How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: COMMERCIAL STYLE GAS RANGE FOR RESIDENTIAL USE

Subject: SAFETY HAZARD REPORT / DEMAND FOR REMEDY Signature Kitchen Suite Pro Range Swivel Handle Pinch Point -Model: [SKSDR480GSI

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a severe, inherent safety hazard regarding the design of the Easy Swivel Handle on my Signature Kitchen Suite professional range. While the articulation and flexing of this handle were intended as an ergonomic feature, the physical movement of the bar creates a high-pressure mechanical pinch point at the pivot joints. The heavy weight and high spring-tension of this commercial-style door turn this flexing mechanism into a dangerous scissor-action trap. Anyone operating this door runs a high risk of severe finger entrapment, deep crushing injuries, or a potential laceration/amputation event if their hand is placed near the joints when pulling the door open or letting it close. As a consumer, I view this as an unacceptable engineering flaw that poses a critical risk to anyone in the kitchen, particularly under fast-paced cooking conditions or if a child attempts to operate the range.

The product, in the report: Signature Brand Model SKSGR360S 36-inch Gas Pro Range with 6 Burners

We have a new Signature brand SKSGR360S 36-inch Gas Pro Range with 6 Burners. The front door of the oven has a handle that appears fixed to the front door, but as the door is opened, the handle begins to hinge out and away from the door surface, creating a gap. I was standing off to the side of the oven, and grabbed the side of the door to close it and as I raised the door, two of my fingertips were crushed between the front door and the now-retracting handle base.
