No one hurt Made Sep 29, 2021, sent to the company Nov 8, 2021, published by CPSC Dec 7, 2021
The product, in the report: NXR-Duro Corporation gas range with oven Model LS3622
Although the range was purchased in 9/2018, it was not installed until 5/30/2019. Home was being remodeled during 2019. Did not use range much & until remodel was done.
6/2020: The consumer noticed smoke in the kitchen and found that it was emitting from the pots on the range burners. The handles were completely melted on 2 kettles. The consumer estimates that the kettle were in use for approximately 10 – 15 minutes. She turned the burners off and had to discard the kettles due the damage. It seems that the range burners increased in temperature unexpectedly.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer after that incident. On 6/12/2020 they sent some parts.
However, a technician did not come out until, 7/8/2020. The tech. said that there was something wrong with the burner orifices on top of the range and he would see if he could get that corrected. The tech. said that the parts might arrive in a week. The parts they sent, he said, wouldn’t work.
7/8/2020: The tech came out to the consumer’s home, but the parts he said would not solve the problem.
Called again 7/23/2020 - Still no parts. The burners produce a very high flame, when in use & oven temperature very high past what you set it.
8/7/2020: The consumer set the oven temperature to 350 degrees, but it burned her cookies. The cookies were in the oven for approximately 7 minutes. The cookie sheet was also burned black.
9/22/2020: The manufacturer sent the same technician out to the consumer’s home, but he could not fix the problem.
The next time the consumer baked cookies in the oven, she inserted a thermostat and found that although the oven was set to 350 degrees, the temperature reached 550 degrees.
The manufacturer sent out same technician, several times and they identified that the oven’s thermostat and burner were not working properly. After the oven was serviced by the technicians, it still would not stay at the appropriate temperature, when in use. As of 3/30/2021, technician ordered more parts. Never came. Still waiting.
Lastly, there have been instances, where gas built up in the oven and blew the door open. This has happened on more than 1 occasion.
There have not been any injuries associated with the range/oven, but the consumer is extremely careful and discontinued use of the oven when I have family around. I have purchased a counter top oven so I can do a little baking.
The consumer received a letter from the firm’s law group indicating that the case was resolved and very satisfied with the partial amount of a refund. This is not true.
