The product, in the report: Miele Model # HR1134G 36 in Gas range Stainless steel
in the middle of a Miele oven self cleaning function the inner glass door shattered causing a loud noise and pieces of glass all over floor and inside the oven. I called the manufactor and am having trouble getting it fixed. I beileve this is a manufacor defect because i followed the instructions for self cleaning and the glass should not have shattered. Miele has become unresponsive and want me to pay for the repair/replacement of the glass.

The product, in the report: 36-inch Gas range
The consumer has a safety concern about the product.
The consumer purchased the range on March 11, 2020. Within a few months the burner ignition lighters started clicking (sparking) but not igniting the natural gas jets. The problem happens every time any one or more of the burners are turned on with ignition taking 30or more seconds. An appliance repair was made two times since the purchase correcting the problem but only for a short while.
For the past few years, the oven has been having the same problem. However, the enclosed oven space results in an ignition explosion caused by gas buildup. The ignition delay is particularly troubling given the gas buildup into the kitchen area and the delayed ignition for the volume of gas buildup sounding like a small explosion.

The product, in the report: Miele Gas Range
The gas stove ignition will “click” for 30 seconds or more before lighting or keep clicking after lighting. Multiple attempts to fix have failed. Due to the gas coming out of the burner while the ignition is not starting, there is often a big “boom” once it finally lights. Dozens and dozens of online reports make clear we are not alone with this problem and the “boom” of gas combusting is a risk of fire / burns.

Potential fire hazard from Miele Gas Oven with Self Cleaning
I am contacting you regarding a potential fire hazard with our Miele Gas Oven.
Two years ago we did a kitchen remodel and purchased a Miele HR1134G all gas range and installed DuPont Zodiac Quartz countertops and backsplash.
During one of the service visits for our range, the Miele authorized repairman said it would be a good idea to self clean the oven while still under warranty. We ran the self clean feature at the middle setting (there are 3 available) and near the end of the cycle the backsplash developed 2 dark brown spots about 4 inches wide and about 6 inches high. There are also small cracks in the middle of each spot. We called DuPont and they said the polymers must have been scorched and there is no way to repair it. The backsplash was so hot we were unable to touch it for more than 2 hours after the self clean finished. The DuPont rep stated he was surprised the wall did not catch on fire.
Miele claims the range was working within specs and we should make a claim with our homeowners insurance. They take no responsibility for what happened.
We talked to a couple of DuPont installers and they both said that the stove shouldn’t been installed right up against the backsplash. Neither Miele in their multiple visits to our kitchen before, during or after completion, nor the backsplash installers had any concerns about this being a potential hazard.
There are no warnings, cautions or any other discussions in either the Miele installation or user guide about a potential fire hazard with installing this stove right up against a wall.
I have contacted Underwriters Laboratories and have submitted a Market Surveillance Report form with them.
