    Our experience:

In January 2021, my family bought this stove from Home Depot. After using a few times, we often found dirty secretions and mice droppings in the oven.

We have used various stoves for over 30 years. Since moving into the current house in 2003, we have used two gas stoves and never had such an issue. We really did not know, then, how it could have happened?

On July 2022, after wiping off the mice droppings in the oven, I turned on the Self Clean for the first time. Suddenly, the stove was on fire, and a large amount of black smoke and burning smell came out of the stove, so I turned off Self Clean immediately to avoid danger.

In order to find the dead mice and clean it thoroughly, I opened the metal plates at the bottom of the oven and back of the stove. There were numerous mice feces and secretions scattered inside, especially in the white asbestos-like insulation above at the back of the stove. Due to configuration of the stove, I was unable to open more parts. So I needed help and had to contact GE.

    Experience with GE:

From July25, 2022 to now, GE (appliancesupport@geappliances.com) and I emailed each other 26 times. However, they insisted there were no new design defects and all problem came from the mice. They repeatedly emphasized that the one-year warranty of the range has expired. In sum, they simply pushed me away and refused to help at all, whether it be a stove exchange, refund, recall, or at least sending someone to investigate the issue.

    GE Appliances Support said:

    1. On July27, 2022 “Here are some local servicers in your area. You will need to call them to see if any of them would be able to come out and help you clean the oven. I cannot send a GEA technician out until you send me a document from an exterminator stating the mouse issue has been taken care of in the home.” (My response: On Aug 16, 2022, sent to GE the documents from the exterminator)

    2. On July29, 2022 “your range has an age of February 2021; it is outside the 1-year manufacture warranty so you would be responsible for any service fees.” (My response: This case is not a case of one-year warranty. This problem is a design problem. On the first day I bought the stove, the big holes were there.)

    3. On July29, 2022 “These are there to provide proper venting for the oven. We do not recommend, nor do we offer anything, to cover these holes. I have passed your concerns along to our engineering department for review.” (My response: how about installing the metal meshes..)

    4. On Aug.17, 2022 “You will have to locate your own servicer; our technicians will only repair the appliance for functional/operation issues. Our technicians will not be able to clean out any mice or excrement. This typical will need to be done by your exterminator with their recommendation. (My response: “Could your technicians help me open more parts? I will clean out the rest”)

    5. On Aug.17, 2022 “I have researched the unit and the design. We do not have any design changes for the oven cavity and the vent opening for the range. I will be sure to pass along your product feedback to our design team for analysis and improvement.”

    6. On Aug.24, 2022 “The only advice I can provide is to work on prevention. keeping the appliance free from further invasion will be your only device. We recommend: 1) Keep area free of any potential food sources, including crumbs, spills and any materials that may be used for nesting.” (My response: That does not make sense. There is a “Delay Time” function of this stove, which requires users to leave the food in the oven.)

    7. On Sep.16, 2022 “I will pass your suggestions along to the engineering department for review” On Sep.20, 2022 Thank you for the pictures! I will pass them along to the engineers for review. (my response: “I am looking forward to hearing from your soon.” On Sep.30, 2022 “The engineers do not typically contact the consumers. You may not hear from them.” (My response: “What did the engineers say to you?”) On Oct7, 2022, “The engineers do not typically tell us what they are working on. I will most likely not hear from them on this.” (My response: They keep saying they will send this case to the engineers and designers. But we never received any answer.)

    8. On Oct.3, 2023 “Again, all of the holes you are referring to in your photos are designed to be there for venting and safety reasons. It is the responsibility of the consumer to keep the environment the unit is kept in and the unit itself pest free. “ (My response: It is due to the big holes in your stove, that lures mice into our home.)

    9. On November16, 2022 “As far as I know, mice would be able to get into any model or brand of range as all ranges have openings for venting purposes.”

    10. On Oct.5, 2023 “All ovens no matter the manufacturer have ventilation holes and you will not find an oven on the market that doesn’t have hole cutouts. If the range did not have ventilation holes, the oven would not function correctly.” (My response: I have checked many stoves in our area, such as at Home Depot, [REDACTED], [REDACTED], [REDACTED], in Princeton, NJ. I took the pictures. Many stoves do not have such big holes.) ...

two year old LG gas range was producing high levels of carbon monoxide when my carbon monoxide alarm went off I called 911 and was taken to the hospital. The fire dept called the gas company. The gas company found high levels of carbon monoxide and shut my gas stove off, because the oven was leaking carbon monoxide. I had felt sick for several days, before the alarm went off. I was using the oven at 250 Fahrenheit to roast beef, when the alarm went off. I felt really sick, I was nauseated, I had a headache And my breathing was labored. I was put on oxygen in the hospital. Combustion is spilling into the diverter.

I called LG again to complaint that the oven caught fire again, I spoke to a customer service Rep and was told that someone from the LG safety department would contact me soon. its been 7 days and no one from the LG safety department has contacted me. I called LG customer service again on 4/27/20 and was told that systems were down and someone would call me back. The product, in the report: LG gas Range

While following the directions on some [REDACTED] for making jerky I left the door slightly ajar while the oven was dialed to 200degres F. The directions indicated that the cook time should be approximately 1 hour. Luckily I checked after 30-40 minutes and found that my oven was very over heated .The knobs on the front of the oven were melted and one cupboard next to the oven had a charred door. This oven is clearly a fire hazard if the door is left open even a crack. In looking at the LG information that I could find, many cases of melted knobs were discovered. The very least that the Manufacture should do is send all purchasers a warning that never should the door be ajar and all future products should have a red flag warning in the operators manual. In addition the door on new products should carry a sticker with the same warning. Notification to the LG web site left me sure that this problem would not be corrected and they would not even pay for the melted knobs to be replaced. While my wife would like a new kitchen this is not a good way to get one. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: LG Gas Range Model Number LRG3095ST/02

I moved into a condo in June and have occasionally been using the LG oven MODEL LRG3095ST / 02. I noticed that the covering of the microwave handle had melted as well the knobs on the range but it wasn’t until the new cabinet veneer next to the stove began to curl that I realized it was happening when I was using the oven. There seems to be a great deal of hot air pouring out from right below the control panel when the oven is on - enough so that the metal handles of the cabinets closest to the range become warm and the solid-state oils inside the cabinet melt to liquid state. I contacted LG at 1-800-243-0000. They initially seemed quite concerned and motivated to check this out. They told me not to use the oven any more and they would escalate the matter to Upper Management as a safety issue and would contact me within 24-48 hours. It has been more than a week since I first contacted them although I have called several times since as they assured me that this was a priority. Every time I call they put me off a few more days and I am starting to worry that they will not address my issue. In the meantime I am not sure what to do and wondered if this was an issue with this model.

The product, in the report: This is a Gas range and oven model LRG 3061 BD made by LG and sold by Lowe’s.

I want to report a scalding Hazard. I think I have the right model. It is a 5 burner range model LRG 3061 BD made by LG and purchased at Lowe’s. I had a pot of boiling water on the right front burner and went to move it to the left front burner, it was heavy so I slid it from the right to the left burner, in the middle of that move the pot tipped forward and spilled onto my stomach and the front of my pants. I was able to push the pot back onto the level part of the range and only had minor burns on my stomach area. When I looked to see what had caused the spill I found that the middle burner iron grid does not have an iron grid that goes all the way to the front or the rear of the cooking area. The right and left burns do have a support grid on them so when you slid from one to the other the pot goes over the area without support and tips to the front toward the user. I was lucky but this frightened me. My grand children often help me cook. Had one of them been there they could have been badly burned. This hazard needs to be addressed.

The product, in the report: LG gas range, model LDG3035SB / 01, Serial # 410MMWD02137 Double door

We bought a LG gas range, double door. The glass door exploded during non use. We contacted LG at web chat, spoke with [REDACTED] who stated that no warranty covers glass shattering. The oven is stationary, during non use, the bottom glass door shatters. How can we use this product when during NON USE it exploded? What will happen when it is hot?

Hazardous Incident AND Safety Concern; Re: LG LDG4315ST Gas Range

There is a serious design/safety flaw in the knob assembly on the front of the range. With minimal pressure, the knob can turn and ignite, and sometimes not ignite. This happened numerous times passing by the range and brushing the knobs with my hip. My wife has turned on the front burners when leaning against the knob panel to reach a pan on one of the back burners. Our dog has jumped on the front of the range and turned on the knobs. One instance was when I went out shopping and returned home to a house full of gas! This past Saturday, July 2, we were in another part of the house when we smelled food cooking/burning. When I ran to the kitchen, I heard the igniter clicking and the burner had ignited under a frying pan on the back left burner. The dog was apparently trying to reach food that was still in the frying pan.

I have contacted LG about this matter and they sent a technician to our home on June 2, 2016. The technician verified my concerns to LG but could not get any committal toward repair from LG. I followed up with LG and they claim to have no report from the technician. Now, LG is sending another technician on Friday, July 15, 2016; essentially to do the same thing, verify that it is an irreparable design problem. LG claims to have no complaints about this model.

The product, in the report: The product is a LG range. The knobs has plastic inserts which cracks from the heat and causing the knobs to not completely turn off the stove.

We purchase a LG gas stove and the knobs have plastic insides causing the plastic to crack after a while. Our household is going on our 3rd set of knobs due to the plastic on the inside cracking and falling apart.

The product, in the report: LG Gas Range Stove

We are having problems with the knobs on our LG stove. They are made of plastic on the insides and continue to break, with the stove not being properly turned off. These knobs need to be recalled.

Last night I walked into my kitchen with strong smells of gas. If I did not come downstairs for a glass of water, who knows what could of happened with the gas on during the night.
