The product, in the report: GE Monogram 48 inch 6 burner and griddle gas cooktop. Stainless steel.
I am writing to formally report a significant safety hazard regarding my Monogram gas cooktop (Serial: DZ900487P). The front-mounted knobs are hypersensitive to torso pressure. On multiple occasions, the burners have been unintentionally ignited by a persons torso simply leaning against the unitspecifically while reaching to clean the backsplash or cooking on the rear burners. Most recently, a professional plumber accidentally ignited a burner with his belly while installing a pot filler. This resulted in a fire involving protective foam and the release of toxic fumes. This “bump-to-turn” vulnerability poses a severe risk of fire, property damage, and physical injury.

The product, in the report: 30” WIDE GE GAS RANGE PURCHASED IN 2021 AT BAY AND SCARFF IN BETHESDA ([REDACTED], BETHESDA MD 20815
Last night at 8:32 while I was cooking a steak on the range of my GE stove I turned on the broiler on high; a few minutes later an extremely loud BANG blew the door oven door open, hitting me violently right above my right knee, singed both my arms hair and blew away the bottom part of the oven. this GE oven, this oven was installed new in january 2021; t clearly has a very serious problem that can only be a manufacturing default - this unit was installed by Bray & Scarff and the installation was signed off by [REDACTED]. The gas range is 30” wide GE MONOGRAM Model number is ZGP304NRSS - the Serial Number is VR903219P Before turning the broiler on I had turned on the oven baking to 350 - after more than 5 minutes the temperature window still showed 100F. My leg was injured when the door opened violenty on it - there is no cut just a bruise The hair on my arms were singed and again there is no apparent permanent damage nor pain The range was being used to cook two rib-eye steaks (in a cast iron pan) [REDACTED]

First aid Made Dec 24, 2018, sent to the company Feb 7, 2019, published by CPSC Feb 25, 2019
The product, in the report: GE Monogram® 36” Professional Range with 4 Burners and Grill (Natural Gas). ZDP36N4RD2SS. https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/assembly/ZDP36N4RD2SS
The range has a built-in grill which is ignited by a center knob. It should be ignited by turning the knob all the way to the left. A clicking sound is emitted and the ignition is via a glow plug and it glows very hot to ignite the gas burner.
While performing regular cleaning of the range, if the knob is wiped and the knob is moved slightly past the “off” position, the glow plug will turn on and try to fire the gas burner. No noise is noted.
The grill is usually covered by a stainless steel plate covering the grill so the activated glow plug is unnoticed.
After a few minutes, the stainless steel cover becomes hot without any indication. The surface becomes a burning hazard. I’ve received numerous first degree burns by touching the surface that I had assumed was cool.

No one hurt Made Dec 29, 2017, sent to the company Feb 2, 2018, published by CPSC Feb 16, 2018
The product, in the report: GE Monogram Stove Model No. ZGU385NSM2SS Serial No. TA700797Q
I have a GE five burner gas stove, GE Monogram Model ZGU385NSM2SS Serial No. TA700797Q. I was using four burners on it cooking 4 roasts for several hours. When I went to turn the burners off, the interior of the knobs had melted (to a soft point) and one of the knobs kept spinning and would not turn the gas off. It was in the evening, and I was all alone, so I really did initially panic. I was thinking that I could not turn the flame and/or gas off. After a few minutes I realized that I could use another not that had not completely melted to turn off the burner from the knob that melted. Once the knob cooled, it hardened back but was cracked and not able to use any longer for the stove.
Several months later, I ordered a new knob for $50 and told GE about the problem but they basically blew me off.
I do feel like the knobs melting in the inside is a hazard to the users because of the inability to turn the burner off when they melt and crack.
I decided to report today because I was just cleaning my stove and took off all knobs to re-examine, and I did notice that my replacement knob has two screws now and is made a little different that the other knobs which makes me feel that they are aware of the problem but are ignoring it. I also noticed that three of the other four knobs have cracks from melting and re-hardening.
I do feel that the interior of the knobs should be made out of metal or a plastic that can withstand heat from several pots - it is a 5 burner stove, so it does put off when it is used to cooking several pots at one time. I feel like this defect/inferior product could be a potential hazard to the user.

The product, in the report: Ge monogram gas range
I used the self cleaning function on my GE Monogram oven for the first time. After it completed, i opened to door to use that evening And found the glass shattered on the door. I called GE and they agreed to send a technician out to evaluate and see if the oven has a defect
I questioned this evaluation as how could it be anything but a defect? Awaiting technician visit
