No one hurt Made Jul 15, 2026, sent to the company Jul 20, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 3, 2026
The product, in the report: A GE Appliances natural gas range was being used for normal residential cooking by an adult homeowner. The range had been installed by the builder in a newly constructed home and had been in service for only about 2 weeks. During normal use, the interior oven door glass shattered without impact. The oven had not been struck, slammed, dropped, modified, or misused. No one was injured, but the shattered glass created a potential laceration hazard. The oven is now unsafe to use until repaired. I am reporting this incident because a new appliance should not experience glass failure during normal use.

No incident, no one hurt Made May 25, 2026, sent to the company May 29, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2026
The product, in the report: GE 30-in 5 burners 5-cu ft Freestanding Natural Gas Range ( Stainless steel )
An hour after I used my GE gas range to bake BBQ chicken the outer oven glass door spontaneously shattered sounding like a bomb explosion. I heard the explosion from the 2nd floor back room. If someone was in front of the stove using the microwave they would have been seriously injured from all the broken pieces of glass going everywhere.

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 25, 2026, sent to the company Mar 27, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 10, 2026
The product, in the report: GE 30” Free-Standing Gas Range, model JGB660SP1SS
The outer glass panel of my GE oven door shattered spontaneously approximately 15 minutes after the oven had been turned off. The appliance was not in use at the time, no one was touching the oven, and nothing struck or impacted the door. The glass burst outward suddenly and forcefully, scattering hundreds of small glass shards across the kitchen floor. This occurred without warning and without any apparent external cause. Prior to the incident, the oven door and frame were in normal condition and had not been damaged, struck, or mishandled in any way. The oven was being used normally prior to the incident. It had been turned off and was cooling down when the glass shattered. The appliance was not being handled or disturbed at the time.
This incident created a significant safety hazard in my home. The glass shattered outward across a wide area of the kitchen floor, creating a risk of cuts and injury. There are small children in the household, including a crawling baby. Had a child been present in the kitchen at the time of the incident, they could have sustained serious injuries from contact with the glass shards. Even though the glass is tempered and breaks into smaller pieces, the volume and spread of shards still present a meaningful risk, especially to barefoot individuals or young children, or to a crawling baby who will put anything in their mouth.
No injuries occurred, but only because no one was in the kitchen at the time. This was a near-miss incident with clear potential for harm.

The product, in the report: GE Gas Range JGB735EP1ES. Gas Range, standard size. Slate color.
GE Gas Range Model JGB735EP1ES gas range purchased in 2022. Control panel has always been hot when in use. At times it would short circuit when being used above 400 degrees, or if convection bank or air fry setting was selected. Recently, the oven appears to have fried both the outlets by it (GFCIs) starting in the summer of 2025. I am concerned about safety with this oven from fire hazards and damage to my home.

The product, in the report: GE 5 burner gas oven Stainless Steel Model # JGSS66SEL3SS Serial #: HR942558P
Our GE stove/ovens glass door just exploded. We bought the stove about 4 years ago and out of no where shutting the door the glass literally exploded and shot out on my husband and all over the kitchen. Completely scratched up the hardwood floor right by the stove. This could have been way worse and is extremely dangerous. We were offered glass to install ourselves and pay someone. The entire door is ruined along with shards of glass in and under the oven. They are a billion dollar company and can’t offer us a new stove right around the holidays when we have several family members coming in to stay.

The product, in the report: oven and stove
I bought a GE oven from The Home Depot a few months ago.
serial #: tl217241p Model: jgb720sej4ss
From day one, when you turn the oven on, you smell gas for a few minutes.
Exposure to natural gas through gas leaks can be harmful. It may lead to explosions and pose serious health hazards that are sometimes even fatal. Small gas leaks accumulate over a period of time and add a significant amount of pollutants that stress the immune system and other bodily functions. According to the National Library of Medicine, “If a natural gas leak has occurred and is severe, oxygen can be reduced, causing dizziness, fatigue, nausea, headache, and irregular breathing.” Gas leaks can cause serious harm to plants, thus affecting the environmental ecosystem as well.
Though it’s under warranty, GE won’t come and repair or replace the oven.
