The product, in the report: Fridgidaire Gallery stainless steel 30 inch door gas oven
I was watching TV when suddenly I heard a loud crash and glass breaking on the floor. I went to see what happened and realized that my fridgidaire oven door had spontaneously shattered. The oven was cold and had not been used since the night before. Fortunately no one was injured including my dog. Had I not been home at the time, my dog could have walked thru the broken glass and hurt his paws.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gas range Model # FGGS3065PBC Serial # AF42102394
In May of 2014 we purchased a Frigidaire Gas slide in range Model # FGGS3065PBC Serial # AF42102394 for our kitchen. It was installed in our home during a kitchen remodel. From the time of instillation the range would set off our smoke detectors when it was in use. Over the Christmas Holiday we smelled gas and called our local gas company to find the source. The gas company found that the gas range was omitting high levels on Carbon Monoxide into our home and tagged the appliance as unusable and hazardous. We have since replace this model with a different brand and have not had a problem.

To Whom It May Concern (Frigidaire),
In December of 2010 I ordered a Frigidaire Gallery Series gas range model #FGGF3054KFK, serial #VF05232575. The unit was manufactured in January 2011, delivered and installed in February 2011. I purchased the unit from Bennies TV and Appliance in San Antonio, TX.
Over the course of the next 6 months I would smell gas while cooking or cleaning in the kitchen and would notice the range knobs were turned slightly and emitting fumes into the air. It was until recently that I realized while cooking, serving, or cleaning in and around the range that knobs were inadvertently turned on due to gentle bumping and light contact. On most occasions, I was still at the range when I smelt gas and would turn the knobs off. In mid-September of 2011 I was performing normal cleaning activities in and around the stove and stepped out of the kitchen. When I returned the kitchen was thick with gas fumes. I checked the range knobs and found one slightly turned on. I turned it off and opened the windows to thin out the air. I am now concerned for my safety.
I contacted the retailer and they promptly sent out a technician to inspect the range. He reported that the range was operating as designed; gas emits from the burner before a spark is introduced. I was told by the retailer that I would have to contact the mfr if I had any further complaints. I called Frigidaure on 9/20/11 and spoke with [REDACTED], a Cooking Warranty agent, he opened an account (#[REDACTED] and gave me the numbers of 3 appliance repair businesses and instructed me to call once and have them call the “Frigidaire tech line” while they are inspecting my range. As the first technician reported he stated that the range was operating as designed but did remark that the knobs were very sensitive.
I stayed in contact wuth [REDACTED] in hopes that Frigidaire would understand my concerns for my and my family’s safety and work with me on a buyback or swap out for an electric range. I was contacted by [REDACTED] from Frigidaire on 11/4/11 stating that since the range was operating as designed, Frigidaire would take no further action.
I am not disputing that the operation of the range is working as designed but it is clear that the flaw with the range is in the design itself. I should be able to perform normal kitchen tasks in and around my range without having concern for gas emitting from incidental contact with the range knobs. As the 2nd technician reported back to Frigidaire the knobs were very sensitive.
I was disappointed in Frigidaire’s ‘No action” response and lack of concern for me and my family’s safety. Had I left the house that day in September instead of just leaving the room, it could have very easily had serious implications. As I mentioned earlier I am concerned for myself and my family’s safety and had no choice but to file a report with the Consumer Product Safety Council. I am writing this letter now in hopes that Frigidaire will consider working with me on a trade out for an all electric range of the same series.
