No one hurt Made Feb 2, 2026, sent to the company Feb 4, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 19, 2026
The product, in the report: Product Type: Gas Range Brand: Fisher & Paykel Model: RGV3-366-N Serial Number: EAV361038
Incident Description:
A new Fisher & Paykel gas range experienced an internal gas explosion during ordinary household use. The explosion was forceful enough to open the oven door.
Date of Incident: November 19, 2025 Was anyone injured?: No injuries occurred, but there was a clear risk of injury, fire, or property damage.
Additional Details:
The range was purchased new on October 22, 2025 and installed on October 27, 2025. The incident occurred less than one month after installation. A Fisher & Paykelcertified technician later repaired the appliance on December 4, 2025. The manufacturer has not replaced the unit and has offered only a limited warranty extension.
Given the nature of the incident and the involvement of combustible gas, I believe this represents a serious safety defect that should be documented and reviewed.

No one hurt Made Sep 4, 2017, sent to the company Oct 30, 2018, published by CPSC Nov 14, 2018
The product, in the report: Fisher & Paykel 30” gas range model OR30SDBMX1
During a whole kitchen remodel we purchased a 30” gas range by Fisher & Paykel. Pre-sale descriptions include: “The door and cavity cooling system keeps the heat on the inside, protecting your hands and surrounding cabinetry.” After installation we read the manual that states children and pets should not be allowed near it when operating because the oven door, sides and handles can become quite hot. Also, when preheating to 400, after 10 min. the air blowing out the top of the oven door was measured at 300 degrees. This blows directly onto the torso of the cook at stove. No ventilation fan/system could protect the cook. Fisher & Paykel customer service all say this is not the way the oven should work, but then either don’t return calls after promising to research for a solution, or finally sent the technician out who said this IS the way this oven works and measured the 300 degree heat blowing at an angle out the top of the door.
This product should not be in homes. It’s unsafe and impossible to use.
