The product, in the report: Stainless steel 36” six burner gas stove. Dynasty is the brand also goes by Jade.

I was baking chicken in the oven. I had been having trouble with the oven not heating up correctly. A family member came into the house and said the house was filled with gas. We opened all windows and doors to get the gas out. The oven did not light the gas and the gas filled the house. I was lucky to get out. It was a very dangerous and scary situation.

The product, in the report: Dynasty gas range mod. # DRGSC-30-4 Serial # 181296-SS 30” wide

I purchased a Dynasty gas range in 1997 ( model DRGSC-30-4 ): the oven igniters are too far away from the burners. When I turn it on it takes a while to ignite and when it does there is a small explosion. It has been this way since I bought it but not as bad in the beginning. I checked the recall on this model and saw where my model was recalled from stores that sold them from 1998. The company handling the recalls told me that my model was mfg. in 1996 and was not on the recall list even though my serial number ( 181296-SS ) appeared in your recall notice. Please let me know if my range is or is not a valid recall unit. Just because it was mfg. in 1996 should not be a reason to keep it from being a recall. I would think that the earlier models would have the same recall problems as the ones sold from stores in 1998.

Please advise. I don’ t feel very safe with the range at this point.

    Sincerely,

The product, in the report: Gas range with oven

2/2017: The consumer called the firm using their recall number (888-607-5694), because his model matches the ones in CAP# 01-108 and he has experienced issues similar to what’s described in the recall. The consumer was told that the range did not meet the recall criteria. He was initially told it was due to the purchase date. The consumer was able to confirm that he purchased the range in 1/2000. He was then told that his range was manufactured in 1990. The consumer checked the range and could not find any information to confirm that it was manufactured 10 years earlier. The consumer was then told that the firm had been purchased by Middleby, Tel: 877-851-7129. The consumer would like to get the recall remedy as stated in the recall. He noted that he had to replace the oven burner 4 times since he has owned this unit and he believes that this is a safety hazard. Each time he replaced the burner, he found an enlarged hole in it.

    * 11/2002: The manufacturer covered the cost of replacing the oven burner, because it was under warranty * (date unknown): Same burner was replaced again by the manufacturer, under warranty. * 12/2010: The consumer paid $159.90, to have the same oven burner replaced. * 2/2017 : The consumer paid $79.90, for the burner part and replaced it himself.

The consumer has also replaced the oven igniter 4 or 5 times, in additional to replacing the oven burners.

The cost for replacing the igniter varied. The consumer paid $230.00, the first time it was replaced. After the initial replacement, the consumer paid an average of $97.00, for the igniter and replaced the part himself.

When the igniter fails, the oven simply stops working.

He has not experienced any problem with the burners on top of the range.

The product, in the report: gas range with oven

4/1996: Every time she turned the broiler on, a loud noise would occur. The consumer was afraid to use it, so she called an authorized service technician. From what the consumer can remember, the technicians did not think that it was a problem and she was told that this was simply how the stove worked. Additionally, it was not an issue that they could correct/repair. Furthermore, the consumer said that the problem was sporadic and sometimes it occurred and other times it did not. The consumer discontinued use of the broiler all-together.

The burner, glow bar and the igniters developed problems over the years. In some instances, the range burner igniters would not work properly and sometimes, the oven’s igniter would not work properly.

The consumer believes that she has had the infighters serviced for this problem. The consumer believes that the technicians replaced parts in the igniters to correct the problem. The burners would work for a while, but periodically, the burners and the glow bar would stop working. The consumer has had these parts examined by an authorized technician more than 5 different times. One technician (name unknown) told the consumer that this was how the range was made and that the burned would fail every so often. On 1 occasion, the repair last more than a year.

(6/16/2014) The consumer contacted the firm about Recall: 01-108 and she was told that a technician would be sent out to her home on 6/23/2014.

(6/23/2014) The consumer contacted the CPSC and informed their rep. that she did not believe that replacing the burner would correct the problem with her glow-bar. The consumer noted that a prior mfr’s rep. told her that the glow bar was being damaged by the defective burners and causing the glow bar to fail. There is 1 glow-bar for the entire range/oven.

The consumer has asked the mfr. if they would replace the glow-bar and she would told that they would provide the burners and that the glow-bar would be at her own expense.

The consumer also 02-119 indicated that her range is also part of CAP- 02-119.

    • The consumer said that the technicians were all Dynasty brand authorized technicians,

The consumer says she had just turned th oven on and blew the door open. they shut it down. She contacted the manufacturer who sent out a technician. He replaced the igniter. He let it stay on for a while. The consumer opened the door when a powerful gust of fire shot out at her. It hit the side of her face.

The technician took the plate off the bottom and the same thing happened to him. The technician said they had to shut that unit down. The consumer believes that there may not be a part available.

The product, in the report: Dynasty Gas Range - model #DGR-36-6

In January 1996 we purchased a Dynasty gas range, model #DGR-36-6 from The Super Store, 11 Blair Park, Williston, VT 05495 for $3800 + tax. The range was crated and not installed in our new home under construction until mid 1997 when our kitchen was completed. Our problems with this range began soon after. The burner tube keeps burning up and disintegrating at the ignition area. We have to get a new part just about every year. My wife has already been burned when opening the oven to check on the food. A flame shot out and burned her arm. This has happened several times. We advised Jade Products Inc and spoke with [REDACTED](her email is [REDACTED]). She sends us a new part which usually has to be replaced the following year. She advised us that the part was being made with a better material. Well, that did not make any difference. We sent her a photo via email of the damaged burner part which she was to send to their engineering director to look at. We have received no response. We are now in the process of purchasing another range. We have contacted [REDACTED] at Jade Products via email and requested some kind of settlement or adjustment since we cannot possibly sell this dangerous Dynasty range. We have replaced this part at least 8 times over the past years.

The product, in the report: Dynasty Range 30’ Stainless Gas range

I purchased a Dynasty DGRSC304BS Range from Couch’s Appliances in Fife Washington in 2003. The product was on sale and the sales person told me it was priced so low due to the fact that they had screwed up and put the product on sale without consent from the supplier. Recently the range has been having difficulty igniting. 2 days ago there was a fairly substantial gas build up which ignited and blew up the door as my wife opened it. I got on line and found a recall on your site that was dated March 2001, Release #01-108. I’m getting an independent company to repair the range but would like to report the incident and the company who sold me the range. I saw on the release that it is against federal law to sell a product that is under recall. Is there any mandated federal obligation of the seller to pay for the needed rework in order to make the product compliant?

The product, in the report: Gas range 5 burners/oven

On 12/03/2011, the oven was set to the pre-heating mode(3 to 5 minutes). When the consumer opened the oven’s door, flames came out the oven a burned his right hand and his right eye brow.

The consumer provided his own medical care at home.

The consumer called and explained incident to mfr’s rep. (name unknown) who said that the product is not under any recall and warranty had expired. Maytag did not offer solution but a later call to Jade Products did. Jade Products offered us the same remedy as in 98-2001 recall for delayed ignition.

The consumer feels that his range could pose a fire hazard.
