The product, in the report: Electrolux, Dual Fuel range. Model EW30DS65GS8, Serial Number NF14217030
We have a dual fuel range made by Electrolux. Model EW30DS65GS8. A few nights ago after cleaning the stovetop we retired for the evening and went to bed. About 1 AM my wife awoke to a very strong smell of propane in the home. She woke me and we opened windows and started to investigate. We found the knob controlling one of the burners to be slightly open and allowing gas to flow into the home. The electronic igniter did not activate. After closing the valve and airing the house everything was fine. I phoned Electrolux only to be told that was the way the stove was designed. Had we not awoken we may have been killed in a violent explosion. It seems to me that once the gas starts to flow, the igniter should initiate and the burner should light. That way we would know the valve is turned on. The current system allows gas to flow into the home without ignition if the valve is turned slightly, say by cleaning with a sponge or a cloth. We are concerned this may be a deadly flaw that the manufacturer is ignoring.
