The product, in the report: Dacor 5 burner Gas Cooktop
We have a Dacor gas cooktop and within 2 years of owning it the control knobs have failed on all 5 burners, this creates a dangerous situation when the knob fails the only way to shut off the gas is by using pliers to grab onto the metal stem for the valve. This is a situation where the manufacturer went cheap and used bad plastic in a way that affects the safety of the product

The product, in the report: Product: Dacor Product: Dacor HGPR36S 36” Gas Range Serial Number: 0RHY7CCT400001F 36” Gas Range Stainless Steel Serial Number: 0RHY7CCT400001F
Product: Dacor HGPR36S 36” Gas Range Serial Number: 0RHY7CCT400001F Incident Date: September 2122, 2025 Summary of Incident:
The oven door hinge failed catastrophically during normal use, causing the door to crash to the ground. A component of the hinge assembly exploded, violently releasing the hinge arm. This occurred after Dacor technical support recommended part DE81-06980A as a substitute for the discontinued original hinge (108805 / DE81-06311A). The substituted hinge was mechanically incompatible with the 36” oven door lacking sufficient spring tension and proper geometry.
This was the third hinge failure:
- The original hinges began to sag after ~1 year of light use and were replaced under warranty (likely with DE81-06890A). - Those failed after 8 months, resulting in poor door sealing. - DE81-06980A was installed at personal cost and failed after 4 months, leading to the dangerous incident described above.
The original hinge (108805 / DE81-06311A) has been discontinued by Samsung/Dacor, and no reasonable or compatible replacement has been offered for the 36” oven door. The substitutions provided by support have proven unsafe and incompatible with the appliances design.
An improperly sealing oven door poses serious risks, including:
- Heat leakage, which can damage surrounding cabinetry and surfaces. - Inconsistent cooking temperatures, leading to food safety concerns. - Increased risk of burns or injury, especially if the door unexpectedly drops or shifts during use. - Energy inefficiency, as the oven struggles to maintain temperature.
I am reporting this as a product safety concern due to the lack of viable replacement parts and the mechanical failure of the recommended substitutes.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel Dacor 36” gas stove Model HGPR36S/NG Serial number: 0RHX7CCR500036H
On April 22nd, a fire occurred in my kitchen. The burners on my Dacor stove were inadvertently ignited by my dog setting the cabinets on fire filling the house full of soot and smoke. My husband who was working upstairs responded to the fire alarms and was able to contain the fire but not without material damage. The stove is a Dacor 36” gas model # HGPR36S/NG. The knobs on the stove have no locking mechanism and standard third-party safety knobs did not fit this product - we purchased several which did not fit and were returned. Dacor does not offer safety knobs on their website. I contacted customer service at Dacor to report the fire, damages and the unsafe knobs on their product. They gathered information, sent a tech to report on the damage and forwarded my case to Samsung Fire and [REDACTED}. Since then, there has been no contact from the company or response to remedy the faulty knobs or rectify the damages. Kitchen cabinets, the range hood and several appliances were severely damaged. The house had to be completely cleaned from the soot and smell all over the walls, ceilings, hvac, furniture, clothing, rugs and window treatments.

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 30, 2024, sent to the company Apr 3, 2024, published by CPSC Apr 17, 2024
The product, in the report: Gas Cooktop that plugs in for the igniter.
I purchased a Dacor Cooktop and discovered one of the two low-flame capable burners has an unstable flickering inconsistent flame that oscillates as the igniter attempts to light gas as it fills the room.
This poses a risk of explosion because the gas flows but the flame won’t light. I contacted Dacor and they gave me instructions to clean with alcohol and [REDACTED]. I carefully cleaned the removable parts. This made the problem worse the lower burn stopped flicking altogether after cleaning only sometimes there is an oscillating unstable flame. I emailed Dacor/Samsung again that I would try a second time which I carefully cleaned, and now the burner at high is a serious risk of a gas explosion the gas turns on and the igniter clocks the room is filling with gas, if I jiggle the knob it seems to light the high flame mode. Now for the low setting there is 100% chance of a gas explosion because the room fills with gas and the burner at low setting will never light as the igniter clicks away.
This is safety risk to family and the general public consumers. It may have been caused if or if over time dust got in or an insect entered unit or if a pot bubbles over. This is a design flaw at the low flow burner setting. I informed Dacor there is a safety hazard and requested they recall this low flame models due to explosion risk. Dacor/Samsung’s reply is that the design of the unit changed and because its out of warranty they will do nothing regardless of any consumer product safety issue. I suspect over time if dust or an insect enters the unit or if a customer’s pot overflows there is a blockage internal to the unit which puts customers at risk for gas inhalation and gas explosion.

The product, in the report: DACOR SGM365 Gas Cook Top
The gas cook top is DACOR SGM365. There was an electrical fire under the right rear burner. One of wire burnt through, causing the insulation of one wire to split open, charred other wires and also the gas tubing. This caused a “no spark” problem.

The product, in the report: Dacor ERD48SCH Range
I was cooking with gas on the stove top. The stem that controls the flame came loose and the flame went out of control. The front left burner had fallen apart leaking gas in the area under the dip pan surface. As the gas leaked fires burned from all of the burners, the sides front, and back of the range. I went out side and turned the gas off to the house.
