  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 8, 2026, sent to the company Oct 13, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 27, 2026

The product, in the report: COSMO Gas Range stainless steel gas range with 5- burner cooktop and 5.0 cu. ft. oven. Dimensions 90 W x 63.5 D x 90 H cm

On October 1, 2026, the glass in the door of our COSMO gas range and oven unexpectedly shattered.

The oven was not in use at the time and had not been used for a long period of time. There was no known impact, misuse, or other event that could have caused the glass to break.

The glass shattered suddenly and broke into numerous small pieces. Broken glass was scattered throughout the oven door and across the surrounding area. The amount of shattered glass created a serious and unexpected safety hazard in the kitchen.

The broken glass could easily have caused serious cuts to anyone nearby, especially if someone had been standing directly in front of the oven when the glass shattered or had attempted to open or handle the oven door. There was also a risk of stepping on or coming into contact with the broken glass.

No one was physically injured, but this was a dangerous near-miss. The fact that the glass shattered unexpectedly while the oven was not being used made the incident particularly concerning.

The appliance was being used in our home by [REDACTED] for normal household cooking. We are reporting this incident because the unexpected failure of the oven door glass presents a potential serious safety issue and should be investigated by the manufacturer.

Product: COSMO gas range and oven Incident date: October 1, 2026 Users: [REDACTED] Oven status: Not in use and had not been used for a long period Injuries: No injuries, but significant potential for cuts from shattered glass Safety concern: Glass shattered unexpectedly and was scattered throughout the oven door and surrounding area.

The product, in the report: Gas range

Caller stated that an overwhelming gas odor emanated from the gas range for a while, a gas technician came out for inspection and advised that the gas range was leaking. She stated that the technician informed her that the kind of leak could have caused an explosion. Caller stated that they contacted the manufacturer several times about the odor before contacting the gas company, and they were informed that it was normal because the range was new.

Caller stated that the company is not willing to replace the unit, they seemed to be reluctant in addressing the safety issue. She was advised that they would send a technician out for repair. Caller stated that it’s been a 3 month, and she still is unable to use the range. Caller feels that this range is unsafe and should be recalled.

10/16/2023 Caller states strong smell coming from oven after purchase. Caller thought smell was caused by new parts on stove when heating. Caller states they contacted the manufacturer several times. Caller was told by manufacturer this smell was normal for this brand of Cosmo stove. After caller pushed back against the manufacturer against this claim, was told by manufacturer to call gas company. The gas company tagged the stove. Emits high levels of carbon monoxide, over 1600 parts per million. Caller states we still cannot use the oven for over three months.

The product, in the report: Cosmo Commercial-Style 30 in Dual Fuel Range model # COS-DFR304 Model # COS-DFR304

Less than a year ago I purchased a 30 inch dual-fuel range from Cosmo appliances. All four burners cannot be set at a simmer level. Liquids boil and other foods burn and scorch at the lowest setting on each burner. I have burned myself several times during normal use of the range because my food and cookware reach abnormally high temperatures at the lowest setting on the burners. I filed a Warranty claim through Cosmo Customer Support. I was told that a technician would contact me to schedule a service call. A week later, another Customer Support person sent an email stating that a technician would not be coming to service the range because the flame level on the burners is normal. This comes as a surprise, because a Cosmo representative has not checked the range. In my view, the range is defective and dangerous. I have tried calling customer support, but do not get an answer, I leave messages and do not receive a call back. I send emails, but do not receive a response. Cosmo Customer Service is ignoring my warranty claim and dismissing my concerns about a defective and dangerous product.
