The product, in the report: Free standing, stainless steel gas oven/range.
I have owned an Architect Series II KitchenAid gas oven/range for two years. During the last year, I’ve noticed that the knobs on the range front attach to the range with plastic sleeves that started cracking to the point that they wouldn’t turn the metal piece that turns on the gas. I stopped using several of them, and before I knew it I was down to one that worked. This morning I tried to turn on a flame and the last one broke before the flame caught. Gas started filling the room but I kept working at it until I finally got the flame to catch. Then I decided I needed to turn it off, but I couldn’t. By the time I finally got the flame off, I was shaking because I could still smell gas so I called the gas company to come and be sure that the gas was really off. He confirmed that it was ok, but now I won’t be able to use the range again until I get new knobs. My fear is that they will be just as cheaply made and it will begin all over again.
