The product, in the report: White domestic gas range/oven
The Park Forest Fire Department responded to an activated smoke detector that was called in by a neighbor of the townhouse in question. There was no answer at the door with light smoke visible through the door. Entry to the unoccupied unit was then forced. Once inside, the fire officer found burned chicken inside a gas oven. The burner knobs were all in the off position but the oven burners were lit. The fire department shut off the gas at the incoming line and the stove was relocated to the exterior of the building
The resident came home while the fire department was still on the scene and told the fire officer that, after heating some chicken, he turned off the burners to run an errand. He said that he left the chicken in the oven to stay warm while he was absent.
There is a potentially dangerous problem with the gas valve to this stove which is less than 1 year old.
