The product, in the report: Thermador -Masterpiece Series 30” Built in double electric convection wall oven with professional handle and Wifi. Silver. ME302YP-02. SKU 6450563.

Glass on my lower oven door spontaneously shattered with some glass falling on the floor and counter top. The oven was not in use ,nor was it recently used and nobody was in the room at the time that it shattered.Fortunately no injuries as nobody was in the room when it occurred, but I potentially could have stepped on the glass as I entered my kitchen barefoot. Product is Thermador -Masterpiece Series 30” Built in double electric wall oven. ME302YP-02. SKU 6450563. The oven was purchased in Feb 2024, but the lower oven had almost never been used. The upper oven was the one used primarily.

The product, in the report: Liberty Induction Professional Range 36 Pro Harmony Standard Depth Stainless Steel

Product: Thermador Liberty Induction Professional Range Model: PRI36LBHU FD Number: FD0409 Z-Nr: 00077 Incident Description: During normal household use, the control panel area of my Thermador Liberty induction range overheated, melted, and emitted smoke/fire from the front control/interface section without warning. The event appeared to originate from the control electronics/touch-control area rather than cookware ignition. The appliance was installed professionally and used according to manufacturer instructions. There had been no prior damage, modification, misuse, or known electrical problems before the incident. The control panel material visibly melted, creating a potential fire hazard inside the home. Power was shut off at the breaker immediately after the event. The appliance is no longer being used. This incident raises concern about a possible electrical or thermal failure involving the induction/control electronics assembly. Given the risk of fire propagation and property damage, I believe this product presents a significant safety hazard. Additional Information: Unit manufacture code: FD0409 Event occurred during ordinary cooking use No external combustible material caused the failure Burn/melt damage localized around the control interface area Photos of the damage are available Hazards: Fire hazard Electrical hazard Risk of smoke inhalation/property damage Potential risk of injury if event occurred unattended

The product, in the report: Wall Oven, electric

My 6-year old Thermador wall oven starting to make popping sounds and shooting flames out the vent. Repair guys removed from wall and removed back panel to find burn marks from an electrical fire near the relay. Wires were burnt and black soot covered the panel. I believe the wires and or connection were not properly sized and connected. Thermador says parts are hard to find and I suspect that they are hiding that this type of incident is happening a lot. The Oven is an electric Thermador, model No. MEMCW301ES, Serial No. 86126BD6110156.

Therador refuses to cover the repair cost. This product should be recalled due to a fire hazard.

The product, in the report: Thermador oven range. Had three prior failures manufacturing is aware of problem but won’t fix. Stated to me that they redesigned product . But will not offer a fix. I am concerned that this unit will catch fire.

We have a thermador oven that has had three failures . When you use the self clean feature on the oven the circuit boards over heat . The oven temperature continue to rise to the point of failure . The oven has heated to the point that it wiring has melted. I have work orders that reflect this failure. The manufacture is aware of this. The repairing contractor explained to my family that this is know failure with in the industry. It was relayed to me that I should contact your office and register a complaint. My concern is that as this unit gets older and the wiring breaks down that this unit will cause a fire .

Made Dec 4, 2015, sent to the company Jan 22, 2016, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2016

The product, in the report: Built-In Double Oven

Original Double-Oven Information Model: MED272ES Serial: 920400103 Purchase Date: 05/26/2012

The consumer indicates that her original double-oven was replaced some months after she purchased it because of the issues she was having with it. At one point, the consumer was using the bottom oven for cooking and when she wanted to open its door in order to remove the food content, was unable to. The consumer states that the self-cleaning setting did not work properly and instead of cleaning the oven, left it completely dull and not at all clean or clear. The consumer contacted the retailer and the manufacturer, and eventually had to have both of the top and bottom ovens replaced.

The consumer indicates that the replacement oven was the same model as the original oven, and that this replacement oven eventually malfunctioned as well.

11/26/2015 - The consumer put some food content in the bottom oven to Broil for approximately thirty minutes and then opened the oven door and turned it off. The consumer stepped away and eventually started hearing clicking noises coming from the kitchen. The consumer’s husband immediately went to the kitchen and opened the oven door, which had its inner glass door shattered. When the consumer’s husband closed the oven door, both of them heard the glass fall off completely outside on the kitchen floor and inside the oven.

11/27/2015 - The consumer contacted the retailer and explained everything to the manager, [REDACTED]. The consumer explained that this would be the second unit of the same model which she has an incident with and that she no longer feels safe with the product and would like to order a different model by a different brand. The consumer asked the manager to please come and remove the unit from her home. The manager informed the consumer that he would contact a representative from the manufacturer and get back to her.

The consumer contacted the manufacturer and explained the incident she had with her double-oven. She was informed that a Service Technician could go to her home and inspect the unit in January 2016; which the consumer believed was too long a wait and so they gave her a new inspection date of 12/10/2015.

12/04/2015 - The consumer contacted the manufacturer to find out if they would repair the unit or remove it from her home. They told her that they would not be able to give her that information at the moment as the Service Technician will assess the situation once he inspects the unit. The consumer asked to speak to the Supervisor. She was transferred over to said Supervisor by the name of [REDACTED] and asked her the same thing. [REDACTED] told her the same thing: the Service Technician needed to inspect the unit and that he would get back to them and that afterwards, they would contact the consumer with their resolution. The consumer informed [REDACTED] that the holidays were coming and that she had many people coming over and so she needed a new oven before that as she does not feel safe with the one in her home. [REDACTED] offered to send a glass door for the Service Technician to install, but the consumer refused said offer. The consumer asked to have the entire oven door replaced, which the Supervisor said would not be possible nor that she could promise anything.

The consumer believes this product poses a safety hazard to consumers.

The product, in the report: In Cabinet electrical oven

My Thermador oven considered a high end appliance, was purchased in 2005 dollars. At 10 years of age the containment vessel is heat buckled and rusted thru in multiple locations. The compromised vessel bottom allows hot gases to escape containment.

The failure of the containment vessel presents a threat to the life & safety to the user. I contacted Thermador through their web site but they never responded.

The product, in the report: Built-inThermadore Electric Self Cleaning Convection SC301ZS Oven. Oven is 30” wide and is a single oven. Above the oven in the same wood cabinet is a Thermodore MBYS microwave. Both units were purchased July 22 2004

Installed July 2004 - Thermadore Electric Self Cleaning Convection Oven SC301ZS overheated during a clean cycle that made the oven door way too hot to touch! I first noticed the problem because of a char odor; and when I approached the oven ...the heat coming off the oven door was hotter than my woodburning stove! The wood cabinet was hot to touch! I did not dare to touch the oven door. A child could have been seriously burned!! My wife was able to touch the electronic panel and turn off the oven. It took several hours for the oven to cool down. The next day we checked to see if the oven would work. Because of he excessive heat, I put an electronic ‘K’ thermocouple into the oven to monitor temperature just in case. We set the temp for 300F. At first it appeared Ok; however, within a few minutes the temp was at 300F and then quickly rose to 325, 350, 375, 400, 425,450F. We lowered the set point to 275F but the temp continued to rise. We lower the set point to 250 and the oven temp started to drop. Once it dropped near 250 it stated up again to above 350F. We lowered the setting to 180 and the oven temp began to drop. Because we could monitor the temp at the center of the oven cavity (and baking bread), we set the temp to 250F and when it reached 350F, we lowered the setting to 225...and the temp would drop. When it dropped to 250F, we raised the temp setting a bit higher and the oven would get hotter ...when it was above 350F, we again moved the setting lower. It took over 2.5 hours to bake the cake.

Aside - About 6 months earlier, the display panel became dimmer ...difficult to read temperature. I can not read it ...color blind for some shades of Red! But I don’t bake!

In Oct. 2004 we bought a Thermador Sm272 Wall Oven / Microwave combination. Since then it’s been in the repair shop 3 times. Twice for a wiring fire that started in the door lock motor wiring. Once for a Magnetron replacement for the microwave. My wife resorted to blowing the flames out by mouth because the fires were inside the cabinet.

Had no one been around, I might have lost my home!! I’d be interested in joining any class-action lawsuits involving this oven. I will NEVER buy another Thermador product because of this.

The product, in the report: Thermador electric wall oven c301bs

A few weeks back I set my Thermador oven to 265F. I was defrosting a muffin. The oven never stopped heating. When I smelled something burning from outside my front door I came inside and saw smoke wafting from the oven. I opened the oven door smoke billowed out and the heat was searing. I pressed the off button repeatedly and the oven would not stop heating. The room became so smoky that we had to open the doors and go outside while the oven continued to heat. When the smoke cleared enough to breath I grabbed a flashlight, went to the basement and shut the oven off from the circuit breaker.
