The product, in the report: Electric range cooktop top w/double oven

Frigidaire electric range Model PLEFM399DC had ‘stove dead’ problems and door-hinge problems early on but which seemed to subside over the last few years; I would, however, find Left Front Burner ON HIGHEST -- very scarey to wake up and find burner ON HIGHEST or come home from being out and find burner ON HIGHEST; also temperature would sometimes increase while cooking to higher temp causing boiling/burning. I was never contacted by Frigidaire of a problem (have copies of my warrenty registration I sent in) nor was I contacted by appliance store where I purchased range model so I was not aware of a problem -- thought I was losing my mind until range turned itself ON HIGHEST one Sunday and husband/I were not able to turn it off until we shut the breaker. I then had it repaired and it took weeks (Oct/Nov. 2012) for different parts and ~$450 out of my pocket, I looked up my model number on web and saw there was a problem. Feb. 2013 while cooking on burner (low for stew) and oven (350 heating pizza), I heard a loud POP and saw dark black smoke coming from behind stove and traveling up wall and smelled a bad electrical smell; I ran to shut the breaker but whatever happened had shut the breaker. I was petrified of the range. Both Frigidaire/Appliance Store not compassionate -- said range was 7 yrs. old -- denied fire hazard -- tried to reason with them for ~$450 towards another range. I have since bought another range -- not Frigidaire; too afraid to deal with the Frigidaire PLEFM399DC -- bad experience was not a squeek but a fire hazard and both were quick to tell me I was being treated wonderfully; neither bothered to tell me of a Recall issue.
