The product, in the report: LG oven model LREL6323

LG Electronics is being negligent in consumer health and safety regarding deteriorating enamel that contaminates food baked within the oven. Specifically, model LREL6323. I personally know two other families in addition to my own who are having the same issue with the same model. This model is also discussed on public forums. I wiped the bottom of our LG oven out with a damp paper towel on April 3, 2026. I noticed blue flakes of enamel and glistening particles on the paper towel. I immediately contacted LG and have further discussed until they refused to make this right. [REDACTED], the “LG Presidential Liaison” will not acknowledge the danger and is repeatedly negligent to consumer safety. Their own LG technician, [REDACTED] came in person on April 20, 2026 and witnessed the enamel breakdown when I wiped the oven out in front of him. He explained the fan is circulating it into our food. The LG employee acknowledged this is unsafe for human consumption and that it’s a known issue when purchased from certain retailers. The oven has been taken care of per manufacture’s instructions the entire time it’s been in our possesion. It was bought and gifted to us in November of 2024. The person who purchased it is my Mother-in-law. She is currently dealing with issues due to the “self clean mode” My Sister-in-law was gifted the same oven. She also has enamel deterioration. Our families health is still being evaluated by medical professionals at this time and affects could be expressed in the future.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel LG electric slide-in range with front-mounted burner control knobs and a smooth glass cooktop. Household kitchen appliance used for oven and stovetop cooking.

An LG electric range with front-mounted knobs was present in the kitchen and not being actively used for cooking at the time. While I was washing my hands, my husband stepped beside me to wash his hands and apparently made incidental contact with the stove controls. Neither of us realized a burner had been turned on because we were talking and the water was running, so the activation sound was not noticeable.

A short time later, I smelled something burning and saw smoke. I turned the burner off immediately. A wooden cutting board had been left on the stovetop from the night before and had started to smoke after the burner was unintentionally activated.

No physical injuries occurred, but this created a clear fire hazard and could have caused a kitchen fire, property damage, or harm to pets in the home. The issue occurred because the front knobs can be turned on too easily by accidental contact during normal activity in the kitchen. I also have cats that get on and around the stove, which increases the risk of unintended activation.

The product, in the report: LG 6.3 SMART SLIDE IN ELECTRIC RANGE WITH PROBAKE CONVECTION OVEN &AIR SOUS VIDE IN PRINT PROOF STAINLESS STEEL

Stove is dangerous LG customer service has done nothing for us. Only thing they would do is give me the phone number where to buy control knobs. Would not talk to me about the other problems. We purchased the stove in May 2023 for $1,197.00. In 2025 we recieved a notice the stove was on recall for a fire hazard. The only thing they sent us was a sticker to put on the oven door to make sure the knobs were locked. The only problem was you have to beable to lock it and at times it wouldn’t lock. We already had several fires that started under the cover we have on the stove to protect the glass top. (Pictures included) To beable to lock the stove it has to be pulled away from the wall and unplugged and replugged in. I myself cannot do this as I have severe copd and congestive heart failure. If I am unable to lock the burners it can cause a fire whereas I may not beable to get out of my house in time. There are numerous complaints on line about the same problems and fear of fire. The knobs for the burners on the stove, the Hi, Lo, Off, 8, 6, 4, 2, on one side of the knobs and the Hi, Lo, 8, 6, 4, 2 on the other side of the knobs, plus other numbers 9 -1 had washed off in soap and water. You cannot tell at all what degree of heat you are using. And when I notified the company they wanted me to pay $350.00 to replace them. These numbers were just surface stamped on the control knobs and one wash and they disappeared. We cannot use the large burner knob as it is completed stuck in place. The clock even is beginning to lose part of the digital numbers. Why they sent a sticker for an item that can burn down your home is beyond me. I don’t see how they get away with it. The stove is dangerous. And of course these happen when the warrenty runs out.

The product, in the report: LDE4413ST, 7.3 cu. ft. Electric Double Oven Range with ProBake Convection and EasyClean with Glass Cooktop, Stainless Steel

My wife placed a small travel bag on the cook top, two to three minutes after the the bag had been placed on the cooktop, the kitchen began to fill with smoke. When I saw the bag smoldering on the red burner, I removed the bag from the range top and placed it in the sink, then turned the cooktop burner off. I then moved the bag to the concrete patio, then started to ventilate the house. The bag contained a cell phone, charging cables, power brick, clothes. The bag had been placed towards the rear of the Left Front Burner rings on the glass. The Control Knob moved under very little force.

I could not find any indication of a manufacture date on the oven and the original packaging had been removed by the installers.)

Interior glass on new oven door shattered during first use. The day our new oven was delivered, I performed the manufacturer’s recommended “test run” according to the owner’s manual. I turned on the oven and it reached 350°F within the expected 15 minute timeframe. I then increased the temperature to 450°F and as directed in the manual, allowed the oven to operate for at least an hour in order to burn off any production oils. I double-checked the temperature with a long range infared thermometer (reading of 451°F) which confirmed the oven was at the proper temperature. I was in the kitchen when, after 45 minutes, I heard a firm “thud-pop” sound and discovered the completely shattered inner glass of the oven door.

The product, in the report: Lg range

My LG range is a fire hazard. The knob inserts are made of plastic and plastic wears out making knobs swing around with no click. LG has recalled ranges with these knobs but not mine. They are now manufactured with metal correcting the problem. My knobs cannot be replaced as new ones don’t fit and mine have been discontinued. I’ve tried for over a year dealing with LG directly but they won’t help. Several people have been burned on this range and I have to pull it out and unplug it when people are over. It is 5 years old. It is a higher end model and was very expensive.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Range

I was cooking food on my electric stove. I had the control set to medium heat, the liquids in the pot started to boil vigorously. I adjusted the control to low. I could see the burner cover glow more brightly. there was a loud “bang” that came from the back of the stove. The noise scared me, I turned off the burner control and asked my husband to disconnect the circuit breaker in the service panel just in case there was a fire. Contacted Better Living Hardware, asked if there was a recall on the stove. I was told “no”. Instructed to call Jersey Appliance for repair services. Jersey Appliance replaced Infinity(?) switch, replaced “harness”. Stove still does not work. Contacted LG Electronics when I learned that LG recalled 161K ranges in 2012 for the same problem. Waiting for LG to send rep to inspect stove, January 20 2022..

The product, in the report: LG electric range with dual ovens.

I purchased an LG electric range with dual ovens in November 2015. This unit has 2 heating elements which have multiple elements in a single burner. About 3 months ago, the temperature regulator on the 3 ring burner has failed. Regardless of the temperature setting selected, the unit operates at the highest temperature, presenting a serious safety hazard. This problem continues to persist. This problem appears similar to the 2012 recall of LG smooth top electric ranges.

The product, in the report: Range used for normal cooking for family

LG Electric Range Mod LRE3023FW, Serial# 303MMNT01519, MFG Date: 3/2013 Monterey, Mexico

The above product that I own which was purchased new from a Tupelo, MS dealer has presented a dangerous FIRE HAZARD for the following reason: This unit has four (4) cooking elements and one (1) warmer element. The danger that has developed is that when manually turning the back left element on, the left front element also automatically turns on and stays on until the left rear unit is manually turned to the off position. Also when manually turning the warmer element on which is located at the rear center of the stove, the left front element automatically comes on and stays on until the warmer element is manually turned to the off position. The left front element has the highest wattage and therefore heats to a much higher temperature. This presented a very dangerous situation recently when a skillet of food had been cooked on the left front burner element and the element was then turned off manually as the manual switch indicated that it was turned off. A second pan of cooked food was then placed on the back center “warm” element and then the warm unit was turned on to the number 4 position in order to keep the pan of food warm. The warmer unit was the only element turned on and I went outside the house for a few (about 10)minutes and heard the smoke alarm inside the house. I ran in and saw the pan on the left front element ablaze and the whole house was filled with dark thick smoke and it was difficult to breathe. I immediately extinguished the fire and removed the burning skillet. I then confirmed that the only element showing in the “ON” position was the warmer element which I turned off. Luckily at this incident, there were no bodily injuries or expensive property damage. I have re-confirmed several times that when either the left rear or warmer element manual controls are turned to the “ON’ position the left front element automatically comes on and stays on until the left rear or warmer elements are manually turned to the off position. I believe that this situation definitely presents a very potentially hazardous threat to life and property and should be investigated and remedied immediately for this particular make and model of LG Electronics electric free standing range. Thanks, [REDACTED]

While using our LG electric range, we noticed that the burner seemed to be at full power even though it was set to a low temperature. After finishing, the burner would not turn off, even though the control panel indicated a powered off state. The only way to turn off the heating element was to switch off the circuit breaker. If we turn the circuit breaker back on, the burner also come on again. It cannot be turned off.

I was baking in my 1 year and 4 day old range when I noticed large chunks of enamel falling off and blowing in my food. The temperature was 375 and luckily I saw the enamel before swallowing it.

i have worked tirelessly to resolve a health hazard with my LG Range. I have contacted the extended warranty company and LG numerous times after the interior enamel started flaking off and landing in my food. There appears to be rust below the ea where the enamel is coming off and everyone is saying it is a cosmetic manufactures defect. I believe consumers should be made aware of this danger as all of LG ranges have enamel on the interior. some help. Right now I am without a range and it cost $799 and was purchased on 2/10/17. I immediately notified both Warrentech and LG when the issue started on 2/14/18 and both say it is cosmetic.

About 4 months ago, the consumer started noticing an issue with the burners on his electric range. The consumer stated that he was using the rear-left burner on the range when front-right dual burner spontaneously came on.

The consumer stated that after the initial incident, his wife noticed that the burners would heat to different settings than selected. Initially, the issue only occurred with the front-left dual burner. Over the past four months, the issue has progressed to all burners.

The consumer stated that his wife has also noticed an issue with the burners not turning off on time. The burners would turn off few minutes after the the button to turn off the burner is pressed.

The consumer saw information online that there was a recall on some of the models.

The consumer contacted LG in regards to the issues on 01/06/16. The consumer was informed by the representative that there was an in house notice on the model. The consumer was informed that the notice was only good until 2 years after the date of purchase. The notice was for the same issues that the consumer experienced. The consumer was informed that he didn’t qualify for the in house notice because he purchased the unit more than 2 years ago.

The consumer asked to speak to a supervisor. The consumer spoke to supervisor, [REDACTED], who informed the consumer the same thing as the representative.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Convection Range

On March 5, 2015 I purchased an electric range. About a month after the range was installed I ran the easy clean cycle only to find that a full clean cycle would be required. As the range was new and different from the other brand ranges Ive owned previously, I pulled the users manual out to learn how to go about using the self clean function. I followed the directions step by step for both easy clean and self clean.

After about an hour of running the self clean cycle, the lights in my home dimmed and I heard a loud pop noise come from the oven. As I was not in the kitchen at the time the event occurred, I made my way to the kitchen to find the oven was extremely hot. The oven became hot enough that it began melting the glue holding the adjacent laminate counter tops together. As the oven was still running the cycle and in the locked position I pulled the oven away from the wall and let it continue to run the cycle as the directions stated should happen. When the cycle was complete and the oven had cooled down I opened the oven door to inspect for damage. Much to my surprise I found the seal around the oven door and door itself had sustained damage. Pictures below. The damage to the oven door is permanent and not able to be cleaned.

Ive spent the last 3 months trying to find a solution to the problem at LG Electronics who is the manufacturer of the product. LG states they feel the problem was due to user error resulting in “cosmetic” damage only. LG refused to understand that the clean cycle was run using the exact instructions given in their users manual and the oven still became hot enough to cause burns if touched and almost started a fire.

The consumer had her range repaired under recall #13-031. The consumer was experiencing issues with the cooktop prior to repair.

The consumer stated that on two occasions, the oven became extremely hot. The consumer smelled extreme heat.

The consumer had the oven set to 170F both times. After about 15-20 minutes the consumer noticed that the oven was overheating. The consumer tried to set the temperature to 400F and saw that the oven immediately beeped indicating the temperature was reached. The consumer believes that the oven had reached more than 400F.

The consumer stated that the oven did shut off from control panel.

The consumer stated that it took another 30-60minutes for the oven to cool down.

The consumer stated that when he purchased the range in Jan 2007, the display unit went out on the first day. The manf repaired the unit few weeks later. They replaced the stove top touch control board and the PCB sub-board.

The consumer stated that about a year later (2008), the same issue re-occurred. The manf came out and replaced the stove top touch control board again.

The consumer stated that in 2009/2010 the manf replaced the stove top touch control board again for the same issue.

The consumer stated that two front burners seemed to heat up a lot, glowing red. The consumer noticed that the burners failed to shut off as well.

The consumer stated that he contacted the retailer in 2011/2012. They informed him that his extended warranty ran out and so they would not repair it. The consumer stated that at this time he only had the three back burners working. The consumer stated that the two front burners would heat up extremely high and sometimes fail to shut off. The consumer had to unplug the range or cut circuit to the range to shut the front burners off.

The consumer stated that a technician came out from the retailer. He took the oven apart to see what was wrong with it. The consumer stated that the technician put in the ribbon wire incorrectly. This caused other things to stop working. The consumer stated that the oven would only turn on to 350/375 degrees and 4 of the burners stopped working (all stopped working except left rear burner).

In Nov 2013, the consumer found out about the recall on his range. The consumer contacted the manf and they confirmed the recall. A technician came and fixed the range. The consumer stated that the technician didn’t fix the front burner. The consumer was informed by the technician that he can only fix the control board for the stove top under the recall. The technician informed the consumer that he would not be able to touch any other parts.

The consumer contacted the manf on 9/29/14 again. The consumer talked to the service department and asked for a new stove. The consumer was connected to the executive service supervisor, [REDACTED], in Alabama. The consumer was informed by [REDACTED] that once there is a recall on the unit, they cannot replace it at all. [REDACTED] stated that they can only fix the part involved in the recall.

A technician from Cannon Appliance was sent by the manf on 10/1/14. The technician took the unit apart and looked at it. The technician stated that he didn’t have the parts to fix the unit under the recall. He stated that he would have to order a new board and come back to install it. The consumer stated that the technician put the back metal board on the unit and left. The consumer stated that nothing on the range was working after he left. The consumer stated that from previous times the technicians had come out, he knew how to go into the unit and fix it. The consumer took the metal back off and fixed the ribbon wire that was incorrectly put in by the technician.

The consumer stated that as of now, only the three back burners and the oven is working. The consumer stated that the left front burner works but heats up to extremely high heat. The consumer stated that only the outer ring works on the front right burner which also heats up extremely high.

The unit is included in recall #13-031.

The consumer has concerns about the drawer underneath the oven.

The consumer stated that the manf is calling the drawer a “warming drawer.” The consumer stated that the product does not state anywhere on the unit that the drawer can heat up.

The consumer had an incident where his wife burned her right hand while trying to get something out of the drawer. The consumer’s wife applied first aid. The consumer stated that the oven was on at the time of incident.

The consumer was informed by the manf that the drawer is labeled as a warming drawer in the owner’s manual. The consumer stated that the product did not come with an owner’s manual. The consumer stated that he only received Easy Clean Quick Reference Guide and Installation Manual along with the range. The manf informed the consumer that he should have researched the product before use.

The consumer believes that the manf need to do a better job of informing consumers about the drawer. The consumer stated that people can mistaken the warming drawer for a regular drawer which can lead to burn or fire hazard.

There are no recalls on the unit.

Callers purchased a five burner electric range in July 2011 and it was delivered September 16, 2011. They didn’t have any problems with the range until late October or early November 2012 and around that time the wife turned the front left burner on but the left rear burner came on also. The caller was not aware that the rear burner had turned on also until she felt the heat because the temperature had just continued to rise. She tried to turn the rear burner off but it would not go out until she also turned the front burner off.

Callers contacted the manufacturer in February12, 2013 (est), was informed that the warranty had ended and that she had not purchased the extended warranty.

She contacted the retailer in March 2013 and repair tech came out at consumer’s expense of over $300, however, the tech has been back three other times advising that the part he has brought is defective because he replaces the part, remains to check the parts performance and they range with the new part has overheated each time.

Caller is asking that this range be replaced at manufacturer expense.
