The product, in the report: Freestanding Electric Range
I am reaching out regarding a serious safety incident involving an LG electric range (model LDE4413ST) purchased from Best Buy for approximately $900 under an active Best Buy membership. This model is currently subject to Recall No. 24-040, due to a dangerous design defect that allows the control knobs to be accidentally turned oncreating a known fire hazard.
Unfortunately, this exact defect caused a significant kitchen fire in my home. While I was moving boxes near the stove, without realizing it, one of the boxes accidentally bumped a burner knob, turning it on. Because of this model’s known defect- where the knobs turn too easily and lack adequate resistance- a burner was engaged without my knowledge. The burner ignited nearby materials, and the fire spread rapidly. The flames grew until a water pipe overhead melted and burst, which ultimately extinguished the fire.

when I delivered shopping items on the counter top in my kitchen, the corner of box slightly touched the range knob even though I didn’t realized it. I found the range was turned on and a pot is boiling when I returned into kitchen a minute later.

The product, in the report: LG LRE 3083ST/01
Our LG Electric Range is 3.5 years old. Eveytime I self clean is gets extremely hot and the stone counter tops and cabinets as well as the back wall behind the stove is so hot you cannot touch it. Yesterday September 2 2017 I set the self clean and after an hour the stove turned off completely. I assumed the breaker tripped and went to the panel and reset it. When I did that there was smoke that came from under the front of the controls and blue and white sparks and withing a matter of seconds the back of the stove lit up with red and orange flames. We called the fire dept and when they aarived they had to break though our wall because it was so hot to make sure there was not an electrical fire. The Range itself itself shorted out and cause the fire that shot out the back of the Range. This Range is dangerous when in the self clean mode and should have a recall completed. Now we have to buy a new range.

The product, in the report: Electric Range, 30 inch width, electronic controls, glass top
On 8/15/2013 my wife turned our electric range to cook and heard a sparking sound and smelt smoke, she looked behind the range and saw sparks and flames coming from the range where the power cable came out of it. The range was unplugged and pulled out from the wall. Later when it quit smoking and had cooled down the back of the range was removed to see what was wrong. We found that fire had started in the side of the connector block, (where the power cable connects to the stove) and it had melted one side of the connector block and burnt the wire on it and the wire on the power cable. If my wife had not noticed it as soon as she did I have no doubt that we would have had a major kitchen fire, and since we live about 6 miles from a fire station, the whole house could have burnt down. The electric range is LG model, LRE30757SW/OO, SER# 803KMSA00134. This model electric range was place on recall last year, 2013 and we were never notified of the recall although the LG Corp had all our information. When i tried to notify the LG corp. of the fire problem and the fact it was on an already recalled range, the only thing they were concerned about was just how i found out about the recall, not the fact that we had a fire. THe only thing i could get out of LG Corp. was that they would send someone to fix what the range was recalled for, they were not interested in the repair of the fire damage and would not look at it when they came. What i am wondering is how can you repair recall problems when there is not way to power the range to do electrical work? This range is a fire hazard and a danger to the user and something should be done to protect the public from it.
