No one hurt Made Mar 4, 2025, sent to the company Mar 7, 2025, published by CPSC Mar 21, 2025
The product, in the report: LSE4617STLG 30” Self-cleaning, Convection, freestanding induction range
When we retired we decided to remodel our suite, we then purchased a LG washer, dryer, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and LSE4617ST freestanding, self-cleaning convection range. There was no warning or recall that the self-cleaning unit should not be used because there is a danger element. We used the self-clean one time with no problem. A second time the glass shattered on the oven door while the self-cleaning unit was on. We had an LG service tech replace the glass. Then on Thursday February 27th 2025 it was time to do a self-cleaning again. I followed all the instructions in the manual. When it had completed its cycle of cleaning and the oven had cooled down we tried to open the oven door, it was locked and the control panel was dark. We phoned LG customer service, and they could not help. We then called [REDACTED] appliance repair a repair center for LG appliances. The Technician came and advised us that the self-cleaning unit should not be used. We pay extra when we purchase the stove / oven expecting the self-cleaning unit to work properly. We were told that a recall warning was sent out, but we received nothing. To replace the controls is going to cost over $400.00 plus labour. And we still wont be able to use the self-cleaning feature. At no time had we ever received a notice or recall on the dangers on this model of stove. A self-cleaning feature that causes the glass to shatter on the oven door or that gets so hot and is not properly insulated that the control panel burns up and locks the oven door permanently is definitely unsafe and should be recalled. We had no previous notice of these dangers and the possibility of a fire. I was not made aware of the dangers of self-cleaning ovens? Thursday february 27th. 2025
