The product, in the report: GE Profile 30” Smart Built-in Convection Double Wall Oven. Stainless steel with glass doors.
I am remodeling my kitchen and my builder had just installed the new GE double wall oven. They had moved away to do other tasks when they heard a loud pop and looked to see the lower oven was shattered. The oven had never been used and had appeared to be in perfect condition when delivered. It was not knocked or hit by any tools. In fact the workers weren’t using any tools in the area at the time.
No one was hurt, but unexpected breaking glass is always a hazard. If one of the workers had been working on the floor near the over shattered glass pellets would have showered down on him. If we haven’t successfully cleaned up all the glass, someone could get cut.

The product, in the report: GE Profile 30 inch Built-In Touch Control Electric Cooktop - drop in glass cooktop - 4 burner with large dual-ring Power Boil element - black. Model # PEP7030DTBB or PWP7030DT1BB Serial Number DA125283Q
GE Profile 30” Built-In Touch Control Electric Cooktop Model PEP7030DTBB or PEP7030DT1BB SN# DA125283Q - During normal use, especially of the one large dual-ring element, the outer sides of the glass top surrounding the element gets VERY HOT. THIS IS A BURN ISSUE. - It gets especially HOT when using the Power Boil setting. All the surrounding glass heats up hot enough to burn. That includes the touch control area near that element. There are 9 inches between the end of the element and the bottom right corner of the glass top. That entire area gets VERY HOT when using that large element. It is hot all the way up the right side of the top so touching any part of the glass top while that element is on is DANGEROUS. You can’t tell that area is hot until you touch it unexpectedly. NO CORNER OR END OF A COOKTOP THAT IS 4-9 INCHES AWAY FROM THE ELEMENT SHOULD BE HOT ENOUGH TO BURN IF TOUCHED. - We tested the temperature using a damp cloth and steam rose from the area we ran the cloth against. THAT’S HOT! - Two adults cooking normal meals on the cooktop. Using the Power Boil setting for its main function, to boil water for pasta. No children thank goodness. If any child unexpectedly came up and touched that glass, they would get burned. - No injuries because we now know not to touch that area while using the unit. - This continues to happen every time we use the unit starting November 2025 - Didn’t start using until November 2025 because was remodeling the kitchen. Purchased and held until remodel was complete. - We’re surprised this has not been reported before as is a VERY SERIOUS BURN CONCERN. - THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL/REPLACE SITUATION FULLY PAID BY GE/HAIER.

The product, in the report: GE Profile series wall oven (single)
On 11/14/25, we were cooking chicken strips in our GE Profile wall oven. Half-way through the cook time, we heard a crash and the entire inner glass had shattered everywhere. This oven was purchased in June 2024, so has only been in use less than 18 months. No one was near the oven when this happened. No injuries, although the oven was hot, so I had to wait until it cooled before very carefully opening it to remove the ruined food that had glass all over it.

My GE profile electric oven(model PS905DP3BB) outside glass door shattered..I had not used the oven in 2 weeks only because I liked to use my grill this time of year. I would use the top of the the range more often( but also not that day!) Fortunately I was in another room when I heard a loud bang from my kitchen. I was shocked to see glass all over the floor! I have had my oven since 2012; I loved this oven n never had any problems with it.

Hi, I have a GE PROFILE OVEN acquired through my builder in March of 2022. It was one of the kitchen appliances included in our new built home. I rarely used the oven because I stayed in a different address until late 2023 and even when I completely moved in our new home I mostly used the stove. There were multiple incidents. The first incident was on October 8, 2024. I came home around lunch time and found the oven lights on. I opened the door, it was burning hot inside. I immediately pressed cancel but it didnt work. I got out and switched the breaker off and back on. When I checked, the lights are still on. So, I switched the breaker off and called GE customer service who connected me to consumer relations because it is a safety issue. A Bodewell technician (also GE) came in. I paid $147.85 for the oven light switch replaced on October 10th. He could not explain why it happened. The second incident was on December 24th, the same thing. I found the oven lights on, interior is very hot and the breaker didn’t trip. The same Bodewell technician came in on December 30th and this time he said there are three parts that need to be replaced- 1. the oven lights on switch, 2. the control panel and 3. the board. They were charging for $543.80 after the 25% discount they offered. I asked what could be the reason it is happening, and he said there are three reasons: overuse, power outage and product defect. It was rarely used and looks brand new and there was no power outage. Therefore it is product defect. I called GE consumer relations, I complained that it is a safety issue and ask them to replace the oven. They declined because it was out of one year warranty and said they will just replace the parts without charge. So they ordered the parts and I had to wait till January 27th for the third appointment which they canceled because they said there was no technician available. For the next appointment, a different technician came in. He replaced all three parts, tested the oven for less than a minute and left. The following day, I eagerly prepared to bake some bread and mixed all ingredients. I preheated the oven and after a minute I heard a big pop! The oven was dead. It was late so I called GE the following day, upset, demanding they replace my defective oven. Again they declined. We scheduled another technician but they booked it on February 5th, the day we were set for a trip. Previously, I made it clear to them I wanted my oven fixed before we go on that date. The fourth appointment was on February 25th day after we arrived from our trip. The third technician tried to pull out the oven but he said he couldn’t access it. His advice is to do a rewire because he was not familiar to the new code connection. He thought the oven was installed by the builder. Right away I called the builders customer relations officer to go to my home to clarify things. The three of us, face to face discussed the matter. The builder customer relations officer made it clear that it was JB Hunt, under GE Back then who installed the connection, therefore its GEs responsibility. The Bodewell Technicians advice is for me to hire an electrician to unhook the wire and pull out the oven, he will do a separate appointment to diagnose and hopefully fix it. Then for the third appointment the electrician will be back to reinstall the oven and wiring. The fourt appointment, the Bodewell technician will be back to check if the oven will work! And how is this guaranteed to work and the problem not repeating? Appliances are supposed to last for more than two years, especially when they are rarely used, aren’t they? Under California Lemon Law the appliance needs to be replaced under the following requirements: -The appliance has a defect that affects its safety, value or functionality -The manufacturer is given a reasonable number of repair attempts -The appliance has been out of service for more than 30 days -The defect was not caused by the consumer I have all four. Good thing there were no injuries but if I didnt come home on time during the first two incidents, fire can happen because the breaker did not trip off. Fire not only in my home but in my community. I dont want to take another risk. General Electric must replace the defective oven, and refund my payment for the price of $147.85.

The product, in the report: Brand: GE Profile Model number: PTD7000SNSS Description: Stainless Steel - GE Profile 30” Smart Built-In Convection Double Wall Oven
The subject of this report is a domestic oven fire.
The product is a GE Profile PTD7000SNSS Stainless Steel - GE Profile 30” Smart Built-In Convection Double Wall Oven
My 18 year old daughter was using the product.
The product was put on a standard operating bake function to bake a cake. There was nothing inside the cavity except for the OEM supplied oven shelves. The oven was clean at the time of use. The oven emitted a bright white flash and flames were observed from inside the upper oven cavity.
[REDACTED] Fire Department came out to verify that the oven no longer presented a hazard to the family. Inspection revealed a burned out broiler element, which had also melted the mounting bracket on the roof of the oven cavity.
There were no injuries that occurred.

The product, in the report: This is a slide in flat top electric range with its touch activated control panel located at the front of the range.
Our GE Profile range on more than one occasion has allowed the stovetop to be accidentally activated causing pots and utensils that were left on the range top to be melted and/or burned and filling our house with smoke. This morning it was accidentally activated (even though the control panel was locked) and melted a plastic splatter cover and filled the house with smoke. In July, it was accidentally activated and caused a pizza box that was left on the oven to catch fire and melted the microwave above it and charred the cabinets and walls beside and behind it. If we had not woke up it could have been a tragedy. It has a front touch activated control panel that is easily accidentally unlocked and is an extreme fire hazard. Please make them recall this oven. It is going to kill someone.

UPDATED ON 8/25/2023: [GE was notified 8/25/2023. At first they declined to offer repair service and parts to me free because this product had not been recalled and was not under warranty. I went up the chain of admin and it was covered completely with repair guaranteed by August 31, 2023. I guess they know they have a problem!
I have read reports that people have had replacements and they have exploded again, up to three times! Please be sure that we are protected. If it is a defect in manufacturing through materials or design, it should be recalled and safe repairs made.]

The product, in the report: GE Profile Induction 5 burner Slide in Range
The burners on the left side of our GE induction range are turning themselves on and off without anyone touching the controls. This occurred most recently on Thanksgiving Day and destroyed a pan and almost caused a fire. The issue now occurs almost every time the oven is in use. I have video of the malfunction and can provide pictures of the destroyed pan (also have the pan). This occurred previously last year and a service technician replaced a control board, however, the behavior has returned.

The product, in the report: GE Profile? Series Cooking: Electric Model #:PB911SJ1SS Serial #:MF270522Q Installation Date:2016/10/19
My GE Profile range cooktop has cracked twice! I bought it 6 months ago and the first crack resulted in small glass shards all over the countertop and floor. Today I was heating some tortillas and another hairline crack (about 1 inch) appeared over the burner, along with the smell of burning wires. If any liquid gets through the crack the glass cooktop can explode!
GE is sending another repairman to fix it next Tuesday (4-17-2017).
I am afraid of using an oven cooktop that appears to be defective in manufacture with a risk of explosion.

The product, in the report: GE Profile wall oven JT3000 series
I used the self clean mode for the first time on my GE Profile wall oven that is less than a year old. The entire inside glass of door shattered. It shattered in shards instead of smooth pebbles that is supposed to be industry safety standards.

The product, in the report: G.E. Profile Series, electric, stainless steel, double ovens
General Electric states that 183 degrees is an acceptable temperature for the exterior control panel on a electric stainless steel double oven. They claim that Underwriter’s Laboratory says that is an okay temp.
OSHA and California feel that anything over 135 degrees will cause 2nd degree burns. I used a new infrared thermometer and got readings of 172 degrees. Too hot to touch.
A major concern is that the double oven, bought in 2013, is placed inside a wooden cabinet. Very high potential for a fire. G.E. has sent a repair service and they replaced the upper oven door hinges and the insulating rope on the interior of the upper unit door. G.E. feels that 183 degrees is reasonable because it was UL tested and approved. I am stating that it is a fire hazard and has great potential to burn someone badly.

The product, in the report: GE Profile oven. Black. Electric. Free standing. Purchased in 2009 from Lowes Home Improvement Store.
I was standing in the dining room visiting with my family when suddenly my oven door exploded. There were tiny pieces of glass everywhere that continued to pop after the initial shatter. Some of the shards were as fine as powder. We had not used the oven in over 24 hours. We were no where near the oven when this occurs nor had we dropped anything on it, hit it, or slammed it. We are very gentle with our appliances and are baffled as to why this happened out of no where.

Front Oven Door Shattered
On November 26 at approximately 8:30 pm I got up from watching TV in my back bedroom and proceeded to walk to the kitchen to get a drink of water. The kitchen light was off and it was dark. I stepped into the kitchen where I remembering slipping and started to fall to the floor. That was one of the last things I remembered. I later found out that I slipped on broken glass, that was in a million pieces on my kitchen floor, from my G.E. oven that had shattered without my knowledge. A friend was going to stop by that evening which she did and was banging on my door as I didn’t answer. She later told me she was calling my name, continued banging, was getting worried and was going to now call my home on her cell phone. What I was later told I eventually opened the door looking dazed and confused. The front door once opened and you enter you can see the kitchen. She screamed and said “oh my God, what happened.” I looked and she said I responded “I don’t know.” She told me she then asked me if I was hurt. She again told me I replied “I hurt my elbow.” She looked at it and saw that I had glass in my elbow and removed it and she told me she put something on the elbow to clean it out. Not knowing until the next morning when I woke up that I had blood on my pillow. I sat up in bed and my head touched my head board. I felt a lot of pain. I touched the back of my head which had glass in it. I called a friend to immediately come to my house to take a look. Once here she looked at my head and pulled glass out and again put some cleaning liquid on my head. I had glass in my bed from the fall. We now realize that I was unconscious from slipping on the broken glass. I went to the emergency room, had CT Scan, X-rays to find I suffered a concussion, injured both elbows and my neck.
This is the second time glass has shattered in my oven. The first time that I used it the inside glass shattered. Now the outside shattered and I hadn’t used my oven in a few days.
It’s been brought to my attention, that this has happened to many consumers. G.E. blames the consumers for a problem that is theirs.
This could have been a lot more serious situation, I could have fell face first into the glass, or my dog or a friend could have been seriously injured or even death.
I’m continuing with my treatment for my injury’s and I hope that you will be able to get G.E.’s attention this time around. My G.E. case # [REDACTED] Their phone# 800 386-1215 My friend took pictures of the oven, the shattered glass and my injury’s. I couldn’t up load them but I do have them.

The product, in the report: White, free standing, 4 burner, 30” electric range with oven. Model number JBP35D MIWN
Large front right burner wire connector overheated and burned in half rendering it unuseable and a fire hazard. This is on GE Profile Model JBP35D. Also on this model, the front glass disconnects from the steel door.
I contacted GE via the contact us on their website on November 10, 2012 and it took them a week to respond. They sent out a technician and he stated that the wiring would have to be replaced from the control knob to the burner.
When the connector overheated, it could have caused a fire.

The product, in the report: GE Profile Electric Range - slide in
I have a GE Profile PS968S P1SS stainless steel electric range. I feel the front knobs can be too easily activated. Tonight I was replacing my counter top coffee maker. I put the box on top of the electric range stove top. After a while I smelled and saw smoke and realized that the weight of the box “turned” the fron two knobs and turned on the top burners. This isn’t the forst time when I realized the burners were accidentily activated but couldn’t figure out how it happened. Now I know. The knobs are raised and easily “turned on” if an object is plaxced on the cooking top and extends over the are, touching the knobs. Thankfully we were still home and able to respond to smoke before a larger fire started.
