First aid Made Dec 31, 2025, sent to the company Jan 6, 2026, published by CPSC Jan 21, 2026
The product, in the report: Product: GE Caf Double Oven Induction Range Model: CHS950P4M2W2 Manufacturer: GE Appliances (a Haier company)
Product: GE Caf Double Oven Induction Range Model: CHS950P4M2W2 Manufacturer: GE Appliances (a Haier company) RISK OF INJURY & ELECTRICAL FIRE: HIGH INJURY: None Complaint : I am reporting a safety-related electrical malfunction involving my GE Caf double oven induction range, Model CHS950P4M2W2. The appliance suddenly and unexpectedly began exhibiting electrical instability, including blinking control/display indicators and intermittent power behavior. The unit became unreliable and unusable due to these electronic control failures. This malfunction occurred without any deliberate abuse or modification. No direct spraying or intentional introduction of water into internal components occurred; only the usual care expected in a residential kitchen environment. The failure was abrupt and not attributable to any deliberate cause on my part. My response was: I immediately shutoff the circuit breaker. Even after immediately de-energized at the circuit breaker due to concern for electrical safety; and the breaker was turned back on, the unit continues to show inconsistent electrical response (e.g., interior light responding intermittently while the control display continued blinking), possibly indicating unstable control board behavior. This electrical instability creates a HGH RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY, POTENTIAL FIRE AND PRODUCT ELECTRICAL INSTABILITIY. I have since become aware of numerous complaints from other owners of GE Caf and GE induction ranges indicating similar electrical and control board instability including frozen or flashing displays, control panel failures requiring breaker resets, intermittent shutdowns, repeated control board replacements, and error codes preventing normal use. Despite these reports, no recall or corrective action addressing electronic control vulnerability has been initiated. These complaints indicate a potential systemic and latent design or manufacturing issue affecting the electronic controls in these premium appliances. For example: GE Caf induction range control panel freezes and fails, requiring control board replacement. [REDACTED] GE Caf induction range users report multiple control board failures and repeated service calls for similar failures. [REDACTED] GE Caf double oven induction range showing persistent error codes and non-functional ovens shortly after installation. [REDACTED] Intermittent shutdowns and loss of function in GE Caf induction double ovens during normal use, requiring breaker resets. [REDACTED] I have a documented respiratory and cardiac condition (including left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, aneurysm, and bicuspid valve disease) that prevents me from safely troubleshooting, power-cycling, or attempting any electrical repairs. This malfunction therefore constitutes not only a consumer product reliability issue but also a medical hardship and safety concern for me. Because of the recurrence of similar failures in this product line and the safety implications of unstable electronic controls in a cooking appliance, I believe this situation warrants regulatory trend analysis and appropriate corrective action.

CAF 30” Smart Slide-In, Front-Control, Radiant and Convection Double-Oven Range
Model #: CES750P2MS1 Serial #: TZ374246P Install Date: 12/04/2025
The left side range burner assembly snapped at a rod in the stem. Had the unit been ‘on’, it would have been stuck in the ‘on’ position and been permanently ‘on’ until repaired or unplugged. OR, worse, had the unit been in the ‘on’ position and the knob assembly snapped while attempting to be turned off. The consumer (me, in this case) may have absently mindedly assumed it was off even though the knob was broken. The product was being used totally normally.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Nov 30, 2022, sent to the company Dec 5, 2022, published by CPSC Dec 19, 2022
The product, in the report: GE Cafe Double Slide-in Induction Range (White Matte), CHS950P4M2W2 in
SECOND FIRE DAMAGE PLEASE TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT ME This is my 2nd or 3rd Complaint reporting General Electrics (GE) Cafe Faulty and unsafe Double Slide-in Induction Range (White Matte), CHS950P4M2W2. Specifically, on or about November 26, 2022, I noticed some brown smudges appearing to be fire or smoke like smudges. Later in the day, the oven stop working. There appeared to be some electrical fire flicker and the oven has not come back on since then. The oven has been damage by the GE Cafe’s faulty product to which I complained about in August of 2022. The top stove eyes do not work. The ovens do not work. The light does not come on . In other words, the oven is completely dead.
I reported unsafe fire hazard to CPSC and GE Appliances just two months ago (August 28, 2022, Report # [REDACTED]). I do not believe my complaint of fire hazard was taken seriously. I was not contacted and the oven was not inspected or replaced. Now, I do not have a working oven.
My GE Cafe Induction oven has smoke/ fire smudges. And now, the oven is completely dead. This could have been avoided if the faulty oven would have been replaaced when I previously reported it.
Again, I am an older (58) person with a disability (Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiac Aneurysm and Diabetes) my health is being adversely impacted. I believe I am being ignored based on my age and disabilities. I would like GE Appliances to replace the induction oven with a GE Cafe White Matte Electric Oven.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Aug 28, 2022, sent to the company Aug 31, 2022, published by CPSC Sep 15, 2022
The product, in the report: Café™ 30” Slide-In Front Control Induction and Convection Double Oven Range, Color: White/Bronze Matte, CHS950P4M2W2
I purchased a GE Cafe Double Slide-in Induction Range (White Matte), CHS950P4M2W2 in late August 2021/Early Sept 2021. The incidents began in September 2021 when I first notified GE Appliances and continues to this present day; it’s ongoing. From the very date of purchase, the Induction oven has malfunction and operated very unsafely. Specifically, the large stove top burner continues to hazard malfunction and does not operate at all with inductions pans. It, since my purchase, will not operate for certain induction pans and will randomly turn on for other pans or items. This happens even when the knob is in the off position which is very dangerous and could cause a fire. FIRE: There have been several occasions where the stove top burners will began to smoke and began burning producing a dark brown or black burn substance. Many times when the oven knobs are in the position, the stove top burners will come on / activate unbeknown to me. In these instances, I, usually, smell something burning; only to see the GE Cafe Induction stove burner eye open. The inside oven does NOT bake properly. ALL CAKES FAIL TO RISE. Finally and most importantly, I believe GE Cafe Induction Double Oven’s electromagnetic fields interferes with my medical devices and cardiac health. I notice that my heart rate accelerates when cooking for extended periods of times. I reported my concerns to GE Appliances, [REDACTED], by email date September 2021. The company was none responsive having someone from GE to call and only say, “We have no report of that.” At the time of MY PURCHASE, GE Cafe /Haier did not disclose this on its advertising, manual or product information made available to me. Had I been informed, I would not have purchased this VERY UNSAFE, FIRE AND SAFETY Hazard. My cardiac health has been adversely impacted. The induction oven randomly turning itself on is a fire hazard. And, I spent a great deal of money buying special inductions pots, pans and cooking supplies , that according to GE would work; but, did not work or activate the oven.

The product, in the report: GE CAFE Direct Air Convection Built In Electric Wall Oven
Cafe Oven broiler filament tube exploded (loud bang/flash of light with flames) and tore filament pieces/red powder and pieces of metal retaining shield into closed oven doors within 2 minutes of turning broiler on HIGH. Nothing in oven. Fire of approx 2 minutes duration ensued. 5cm piece of broiler element and 2 cm piece of metal shield destroyed (metal shards on oven floor) in the flash/loud pop “explosion.” I was seconds away from opening door to place food inside when incident occurred; ie I was at the door, eye level, on this French Door oven, when flash/bang occurred. No injury. Circuit breaker was immediately tripped. I turned oven dials off. No need for fire extinguisher. Oven is 20 months old and broiler used less than 10 times since purchase.
