The product, in the report: Stainless Steel over the cooktop convection oven from General Electric Company installed in the cabinetry in a small “in-law” kitchen.
The tempered glass on the front of a GE “Above the Cooktop” Convection Oven, Model: JVM1790SK, Serial No:FR905387, shattered.
The oven had never been used. GE is claiming that tempered glass used in their ovens shatters, and that the cost of replacement must be borne by the consumer. GE has refused to acknowledge how dangerous this situation is, and has stated that tempered glass shattering despite an oven never being used is not atypical and within the scope of the appliance’s design specifications.
