The product, in the report: Electrolux, electric, double wall oven with glass doors and stainless steel trim. The two ovens together are about 30 inches wide, 48 inches high, and 24 inches deep.
My Electrolux glass oven door exploded. It was the outer glass of the upper oven of my double wall oven. I had placed a casserole in the oven that had been pre-heated to 425 degrees. I closed the oven door, turned around, and started to walk away. I was about 18 inches away when I heard a loud, frightening bang and then a crackling sound. I felt something hitting my legs. When I turned around I saw that the oven door had shattered. Most of the glass had fallen directly below the oven, but many shards had scattered on the kitchen floor and into adjoining rooms. Shards were found up to 12 feet away from the oven. If I had not turned to walk away I would have been hit in the face with the shards.

I am contacting you to report a serious safety issue involving my Electrolux double wall oven, model EI30EW45PSC, serial number AF70400xxx.
The outer tempered glass of the upper oven door spontaneously shattered while the oven was not in use. There was no impact to the door and no known event that would reasonably explain the failure. The failure occurred unexpectedly and caused the outer glass to break into numerous small pieces.
I am particularly concerned because this does not appear to be an isolated type of incident. Publicly available U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports describe Electrolux/Frigidaire oven-door glass unexpectedly shattering, including an incident in which the outer oven glass shattered while the appliance had not been used for approximately a week.
I have also identified reports involving related Electrolux wall ovens describing outer door-glass failures, as well as current federal litigation concerning allegations of sudden oven-glass breakage in Electrolux/Frigidaire appliances. I understand that allegations and consumer reports do not by themselves establish that my particular oven has a manufacturing defect, but they raise a legitimate safety concern that I believe warrants investigation.
Given that:
* The oven was not operating when the glass shattered. * There was no impact to the door. * The failure involved the upper oven’s outer tempered glass. * Similar spontaneous glass failures have been reported involving Electrolux-manufactured ovens.
I am requesting that Electrolux treat this as a product-safety complaint rather than ordinary cosmetic damage.

No one hurt Made Jul 16, 2026, sent to the company Jul 21, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 4, 2026
The product, in the report: Electrolux double wall oven, 30 inch, built-in electric. Stainless steel with a black glass outer panel on each of the two oven doors. Two oven cavities, upper and lower, each with a horizontal stainless steel handle mounted across the top of the door. Installed into a kitchen cabinet column. Model EI30EW48TSC, serial AF01501370. Used for household cooking and baking. The component that failed is the outer door glass panel on the upper oven door, together with the related handle and top trim assembly. The manufacturer part number for the required replacement is 5304512257.
An Electrolux electric double wall oven, model EI30EW48TSC, serial AF01501370, installed in a private home. The appliance was installed new with the home in 2020 and we are the original owners. The oven was in normal use, baking at 375F in the lower cavity. The upper cavity was not in use. At approximately [REDACTED] PM on June 24, 2026, the handle on the upper oven door came loose and hung down from one mounting point. A photograph taken at that moment shows the displaced handle, the exposed mounting bracket, the intact outer door glass, and the oven control panel reading 375F. The time is independently corroborated by a second clock visible in the same photograph. On inspection, one of the handle mounting screws had backed out of its seat. The outer glass was not loose and was not shifting. The screw was re-secured by hand with a screwdriver. It tightened and held on the first attempt. At approximately [REDACTED] PM, roughly 55 minutes later, with the handle re-secured and holding, the outer glass panel of the upper oven door shattered spontaneously. A photograph taken immediately afterward documents the shattered door and the debris field. There was no impact to the door at any point. No hot cookware was placed on it, no cold liquid or cleaner was applied, and the door was not slammed. The appliance had never been serviced and had not been misused. On this door, the mounting screws for the handle also secure the top trim of the door, and the top trim retains the outer glass panel. A fastener that backs out of its seat on its own, on an appliance under normal household use, indicates it was either not adequately secured at assembly or is not adequately retained in service. That would mean the outer glass had been progressively losing retention before the handle became visibly loose. No one was struck by the glass and no injury occurred. At the moment the door shattered, two adults and two children were in the kitchen. A household dog was also in the home. Glass fragments were projected across the kitchen floor, as shown in the attached photograph, into the area where a person stands to operate the appliance. Anyone standing at the oven at that moment would very likely have been struck. It took several hours to clear the glass from the kitchen, and during that time we had to keep the children and the dog out of the area. The debris included at least one large elongated piece, visible in the photograph, rather than the small fragments tempered glass is expected to produce. The upper oven is now unusable. The manufacturer advises that the required replacement part, 5304512257, is discontinued while other parts for this model remain available, so the appliance cannot be repaired. A replacement request, manufacturer case [REDACTED], was denied on July 6, 2026 without any assessment of cause. The door, handle, and mounting hardware have been preserved and are available for inspection. Photographs are available.

When filing your report on SaferProducts.gov, the “Description of Hazard” is the most critical section. To get the CPSC’s attention, you must use technical, objective language that highlights the unreasonable risk of injury or fire.
Below is a draft you can copy and paste directly into the report.
Draft: Description of Hazard Incident Summary: “Upon professional inspection of a Frigidaire Professional Oven/Microwave Combo (Model: PCWM3080AF), a certified technician discovered internal electrical arcing damage, visible burn marks on the housing, and non-factory spliced wiring. These defects were found inside a unit purchased brand new directly from the manufacturer (Electrolux Family Store) in July 2023. The technician further identified that the unit was delivered without a critical fuse, and the control board had suffered a neutral open failure.

The product, in the report: Its an Electrolux induction range EW30IS65JSC
I would like to report electric shock from Electrolux induction range. Every time we touch the metal part of the stove part, we get an electric shock. We bought the house almost a year ago and this had happened a few times. We started wearing stove gloves whenever we use it, however last night I forgot to wear the gloves and I was electrocuted and it was scary and dangerous. I called the company customer support which is located offshore and they were super rude and disrespectful, not caring about the deep concern of people who could get electrocuted to death, especially children, for just touching the stove. We unplugged the range for safety purposes.

The product, in the report: Smoothtop Electric Range
We had a incident about a year ago when we were awoken in the middle of the night by our smoke alarm. The smoke alarm triggered the fire department. The house was full of thick smoke. They removed a large pot from the stove that was burning. We couldn’t understand how that happened, as we turned the stove off. The pot was left on the burner. This past weekend, I was cooking on the stove and turned the burner off. To my surprise, the burner didn’t turn off. I had to shut the power to the stove off at the fuse box.

My husband unplugged the two burners that have been malfunctioning and for the past year we have been just using 2 burners . Yesterday The stove turn on the self cleaning cycle and lock the burners. We unplugged the stove when we plugged it again it was on the self cleaning cycle and and lights on all 4 burners were on including the two burners that we have have disconnected. My concerns is that the stove could have cause a fire. There was time before we in activated one of the burner that we had a glass oven pan on top of the stove. The burner turned on by itself. I was in another room and no one else in the home and all I heard was the glass exploding into tiny pieces. No one was in the kitchen when it happened. That could have cause injuries. Yesterday incident of the range activating cleaning cycle on its own really scared me out. I had pots and pans inside of different materials. When we plugged the stove back thinking it was going to be reset to normaI, the stove was on the same self cleaning cycle. Thats when we decided to unplug it permanently because there was a fire hazard waiting to happen. Thanks The Lord that we were able to unplug the stove before something major happened. I feel that this stove put my family in dangers way many times. and I just realize that there has been a recall for this brand. Please assist us with this matter. We cant afford a new stove thats why we tried to hang on to this damage stove as long as we did even when we only had 2 burners. You can reach out to me at [REDACTED] or [REDACTED] Thank you in advance [REDACTED]

Product was turned off, we were sleeping, suddenly we sensed a burnt smell. I went to the kitchen and found one of the elements ON even with switch knob in OFF position. The only way to turned off was shutting off the circuit breaker. Soon after that it re appeared but from time to time we get an F7 error code and none of the elements turned on, only the oven works.

Electrolux oven EW30ES65GSI with serial number NF416Z9420. This is a very dangerous oven. It will turn on one of the burners in the middle of the night on high. They have recalled the same ovens with different serial numbers than ours but will do nothing about ours. There are lots of these out there that could burn up ones family. Please help to keep this from happening. Once this happens you can only turn your breaker off to stop the burner from running wide open.

The product, in the report: Electric Smooth top range/oven
Caller reported that she was heating contents on the rear left burner of the smooth top electric range, suddenly she noticed the control panel illuminated the “clock” feature and all the other burners came on spontaneously on high. She was unable to power it off using the control panel and had to use the circuit breaker to switch the power off. She has since stopped using the range because of the hazard it poses.
The manufacturer was contacted about the incident and she was advised that there has been no recall or incident with her model.
Caller stated that there was a service call 12/11/2017 due to the stovetop not working, which the technician reset. . Caller feels that this range is a fire hazard and should be reported.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Electric range model PLEF398CCB. Ceramic smooth top range, four top burners plus one warming burner, electric self cleaning convection oven, lower warming drawer. Stainless steel front, black sides.
Electrolux electric range model PLEF398CCB: Smoothtop range burners will not turn off after use, and during use will go to maximum high heat continuously. This has occurred on all four burners at various times within the last year or so. In order to shut off burners, range main breaker has to be turned off. Sometimes, after “resting” for a while, and resetting breaker, burners will shut off. Other times they will not shut off at all. Turning burner knobs on and off numerous times will usually shut burner off. This malfunction poses a serious risk of burn injury or fire. I learned that this model was subject to a recall and contacted Electrolux/Frigidaire. They agreed that this model was part of the recall and requested the serial number. The serial number is printed on a plastic label fixed to the door frame, and after many years, the serial number is only partially legible. I gave Electrolux as much of the serial number as I was able to make out, but they REFUSED to rectify this dangerous condition unless i could give them a complete serial number. They would not even tell me exactly what the problem was, but indicated that the control knobs, as well as other electrical components needed to be replaced. They refused to give me the part numbers for the replacement parts required, and stated that the repairs had to be done by a registered repair person sent by Electrolux. Again, they refused to send a repair person without a complete serial number. The Electrolux representative agreed that this problem was in fact dangerous from both a burn and fire perspective, but still refused to repair. I took photos of the ID label and sent them to an email provided by the representative; I got no response. The incident date of this report is only the most recent instance.

Was cooking a meal in oven which was to take 2 hours. Checked on it an hr. later and food was burnt to a crisp. I wear hearing aids but the timer was beeping and was showing (F-1) Beeping would not go off so I looked on-line to see what f-1 meant It said it was an electronic error and to tum power off for a few min. and then back on to clear. Beeping stopped but was still showing F-1. but all the lights were out so I thought it was off. started to prepare meal and noticed elements were still glowing. So I opened door and flames started shooting out so got fire extinguisher and put out. Tumed of power again and waited for oven to cool off. The turned on power again and checked oven again and found the elements glowing again. So tum power back off and bought new oven. I think if the electronic board went out that the range should of turned of by default and not on self clean. Was lucky I was home and home did not bum down and children were not harmed or killed.

The product, in the report: Electrolux 30” Double Wall Oven 4.2 CU ft, wavetouch control, SS, Model number: EW30EW65GS8 and Serial number: NF13717408 Electrolux 30” Cooktop Black, Model number: EW30EC55GS2 and Serial number: NF13823142
We purchased an Electrolux Double Oven along with a 30” Cooktop in October 2011 for $4,090.04 from our local appliance store. I have been in contact with Electrolux customer service for several years now, addressing my concerns which are as follows: Specific to the Double Ovens: The fuse box has to be reset after each self cleaning as it is placed too close to the heating element. I am charged $85.00 for each visit, therefore I self clean the oven. In May of 2015, I had several graduation cakes that were ruined as the bottom oven’s heating element had failed. That cost $268.49 to replace. To date, I cannot get my baking goods to bake evenly. One end is under-done while the other end is very dark. I have pictures should you wish to review. Specific to the Stove Top: I have issues with one of my main burners remaining on at all times. In December 2015, we “catered” our daughters wedding. I was cooking pasta on the burner and it never shut off. We ended up switching the breaker which obviously shut everything off and cooled down overnight before we switched the breaker to the on position. I have pictures of this as well when all the burners are in an “off” position yet the one burner is bright red. Electrolux promotes customer service opinions and states they are very important. Interesting, on January 19, 2016 I sent a letter to their CEO, [REDACTED] in Charlotte, NC, stating my concerns. I have an email on March 9, 2016 from Electrolux stating they never received the letter. I have a copy of the USPS tracking number that clearly states acceptance of the letter delivered on January 25, 2106 at 4:41pm. I have several emails throughout time, dealing with [REDACTED] at Electrolux, explaining my concerns however they seem to have no regards to the issues at hand. The best Electrolux will do is to offer 50% off any parts necessary for repairs. I am requesting reimbursement of both the Double Oven and Cook Top as it is liability and far more inexpensive then reimbursement of a damaged home.

More recently, I notice that even though I shut off my oven, it seems to continue running for an unreasonable amount of time. I worry that this is a potential fire hazard in that eventually it will fail to shut off altogether.

Now one of the surface heating elements turns on unexpectedly, heats to temperatures other than expected and then does not turn off unless I power off the cooktop at the circuit breaker.
Using the Internet, I learned of Recall number: 11-016 which encompasses Electrolux ICON cooktops with the model number E30EC65ESS. Mine has model number E30EC65ESS2, which is slightly different from the one in the recall.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Professional Series Smooth Top electric slide-in oven
Frigidaire professional series, smooth-top range, with a defective heating element that spontaneously heated as described in previous product recall of nearly 200,000 units back in 2009. My unit is newer than those in the recall and as a result, I was told Frigidaire can do nothing to assist even though this is the exact same problem and a well documented issue. Multiple heating areas came on without power being turned on to them which resulted in a small fire from a storage container that was resting on the stove-top. If any controls are turned to “on”, there is an immediate cracking sound, followed by a loud “pop” and sparks/flames can be seen beneath the glass top. Had I not been present at the time that the fire occurred, there is no reason to believe that it wouldn’t have engulfed the home as there were hand-towels also in the area that would have aided in the fire’s growth.

The product, in the report: Electrolux ICON Electric Smooth Top Cook Top 36”
Electrolux Icon Smooth Top Electric Cooking Range. Tonight 2/5/15 we were cooking on the front left element. We turned the element off - and the digitial display showed the “HE” symbol indicating it was warm, as normal. We walked away from the stove top and returned within a few minutes and the digital display was rolling through/showing erradict numbers again and again while the knob was still in the off position. Then the digital display stuck on “9” and the element began to heat up to full heat or even hotter. Despite our attempts to turn off the element with the knob, the element remained red hot and the digital display just showed random numbers as we turned it. We could not get the element to turn off. After a period of time we eventually had to turn the breaker off for the stove on our main panel. Once we had the stove off, we turned the breaker back on and the digital display now reads “ER.”
Obviously our concern is that this stove could turn itself back on to full heat while we are away from our home. This is a clear fire hazard.

The outer glass panel on my oven door shattered for no apparent reason. I was cut on the face and hands. What remains of the oven still presents a danger to me and my kids. The remedy I seek is a replacement door, installed by a professional. The oven was not used in any unusual manner; nor was it abused in any fashion. Please review the events below and the attached photos. Model# FES 365 ESA Serial# NF52907731 A copy of this complaint is being forwarded to the CPSC.
Thurs., Jan 15 2015
Went to the stove to open the oven. As I began to pull the door open, the outer glass panel on the oven door suddenly shattered, covering the floor and my feet with broken glass. A few pieces remained attached to the upper frame. One piece dislodged and fell between my glasses and cheek as I was trying to read the serial and model #s on the inside frame of the oven. (See photos)
I called customer service about 20 min. later. The first rep advised there was nothing Electrolux/Frigidaire could do because the oven is no longer under warranty. I requested to escalate call to a supervisor. Was transferred to [REDACTED]. After review, she advised Electrolux could offer a 30 % discount on replacement parts and also started a liability claim regarding my cuts caused by the broken glass. I advised her that due to the severity of this incident that I expected Electrolux to replace the door free of charge. Loss of function after the warranty period is expected, exploding glass doors are not.
I requested further escalation, [REDACTED] advised that there was no higher level. She gave me the mailing address for corporate offices and advised me that the liability claims dept would be in contact & possibly be of more assistance. Incident # [REDACTED] Liability claim# [REDACTED] [REDACTED] contact # [REDACTED]
It took me 3 hrs to clean up the glass. I found pieces of glass as far as 6 ft from the oven and am still finding stray pieces. I had several small cuts to my fingers during cleanup. There is a strip of jagged glass still attached to the frame which will require force to remove. I have not attempted to pull it off because I do not wish to further injure myself. However, leaving the strip of glass as it is also presents a hazard. I have no idea how to proceed with the situation.
Wed Jan. 21, 2015 Was contacted by [REDACTED] from Electrolux liability claims dept. I told her what happened and that I need a replacement oven door. She reviewed the file and my account of the incident and advised me that since the warranty was expired that Electrolux could do nothing. I advised that I would contact the Consumer Protection Agency regarding the matter.
I do not understand why this product has not been placed on recall. I am aware that similar incidents have happened to others with Electrolux/Frigidaire ranges and am prepared to contact the news media in order to warn other consumers about this product

The product, in the report: Electrolux Electric Slide-In Range EW30IS65JSA Serial # NF10928958
I purchased a Electrolux electric slide-in range; model number EW30IS65JSA, serial number NF10928958 stove on April 12, 2011. This appliance broke for the second time in three years due to a spillover and a poor stove design. Recently on several occasions my daughter and I got shocked when touching the stove and the overhead microwave. On August 22, 2014 I had a home inspector visit my house and I explained that my daughter and I have gotten shocked. He inspected the microwave to see if it was grounded and it was. On August 24, 2014 I was putting a plate of food in the microwave to reheat and my arm was touching the microwave while my right hip was leaning against the Electrolux stove. I received a big shock that went through my left arm and caused me to drop my cell phone Because of this, I contacted a licensed electrical contractor/electrical inspector and he examined the microwave and the stove on August 30, 2014. He determined that the microwave was indeed grounded. However, upon testing/inspecting the stove he found that between the exterior of the stove and the microwave exterior there was 125 volts AC present. Upon further investigation he said that the stove case was energized with this referenced voltage. He considered this an electrocution hazard and he turned off the circuit breaker which turns off the power to the stove. This action eliminated the voltage on the exterior of the stove. The electrician recommended that I contact Electrolux immediately and have a representative come out to examine and correct this dangerous situation. Please contact me to set up an appointment. Thank you. This is the contact information of the electrician:

The product, in the report: Electrolux Icon Smoothtop Cooktop Model number: E30EC65ESS Serial Number: NF61619275
On October, 2010 you issued a recall notification for a Electrolux Icon Smoothtop cooktop Model Numbers E30EC65ESS and Serial Number Range: NF501XXXXX through NF045XXXXX. I own a unit with that number and serial number NF61619275. My unit shows the same issues mentioned in your recall notification: water can enter the control panel and a fire hazard exits. Two days ago, I turned on one of the coils and seconds later another coil turned itself on without me touching the knob. I tried turning it off and turned off the one I had turned on while the one which turned itself on kept on and to the maximum heat capacity. I had to turn off the main circuit breaker to turn the coil off. An hour later, I turn back on the circuit breaker and the coil turned itself on, a foul smell came out of the unit and an electrical explosion occurred with sparks flying. I had to turn off the circuit breaker again and unplugged the unit. Fortunately, I was away from the unit at the circuit breaker panel and received no harm. The only thing below the unit is a microwave unit which didn’t ignite. I this would have happened with no one home a fire could have had started. I formally request that the recall be expanded to include latter serial numbers since apparently this problem has not been corrected by the manufacturer.

The product, in the report: Electrolux free standing electric stove and oven
This product is the Electrolux stove model ew30ef65gsh. I had the stove temp set to 250 on oven bake. Intermittantly the entire circuit display would flash showing an error code f20 in the clock area. When I would open the oven door the flashing would stop and when I closed it again all the icons on the display would light up. I turned off the oven and waited a few minutes and turned it back on. The same events repeated itself 3 times within an hour. I looked on line for the error code and it said to unplug the stove and wait 5 minutes and re-plug it in. When I pulled out the stove the junction box where the stove was plugged in was partially melted and the plug burning hot. About 2 years ago I had a similar incident with the same stove but a different error code and Electrolux replaced the circuit boards in the oven. I believe this could have caused a fire had I not pulled out the stove and continued to try and use it.

The product, in the report: Electrolux ICON electric cooktop
Electrolux cooktop caught on fire. Unit was subject to a recall that we were not aware of - can turn itself on without warning. See http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2011/Frigidaire-and-Electrolux-ICON-Electric-Smoothtop-Cooktops-and-Slide-In-Ranges-Recalled-Due-to-Fire-Hazard/.
The heat ignited a paper box that burned on top of the unit causing significant damage to it and also to the wood floor below when the burning box fell onto the floor. If we hadn’t been home at the time, the house would likely have been in danger of catching fire.
Electrolux response was to send the replacement parts needed to prevent the problem as called for in the recall notice, but since the unit was damaged more parts are needed to repair it - or a complete replacement should be provided. Electrolux required that a local repairman evaluate the unit - he recommends complete replacement. Currently waiting on a response from Electrolux.
We are concerned that the company will not take responsibility for the damage.

The Frigidaire/Electrolux electric stove top is so hot that it melted the plastic silverware holders in the drawers underneath the sink. The authorized Electrolux repairman came to the house and said it was a fire hazard and we should not use it, or use only lower temparatures, but Electrolux said they know it gets hot so they recommend not putting anything plastic in the drawers underneath the stove. Its so hot that it will eventually cause the wood to catch fire. Electrolux said its out of warranty. Model no. is FEC364Ac1, serial no. is HZ90600212

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Self-Cleaning Oven with Ceramic Cooktop Model #FEFL79GCA Serial #VF70951234 Registration #[REDACTED]
Frigidaire smooth stove top burners start in the “high” setting, regardless of temperature on dial. When a low to medium temperature is selected on the dial and the burner ignites at the high setting, the dial cannot reduce or turn off the burner and the electrical breaker switch must be disengaged. One burner (left front) starts randomly (in high setting) without ever being turned on. When the stove is not in use, the breaker switch must be disengaged. This pattern of unsafe behavior started within the first year after purchase. The heat generated is enough that an aluminum pan has deformed by melting and a glass pan has exploded. Nothing can be left on the smooth top surface unless the breaker is off. When I began contacting Electrolux/Frigidaire in 2008, I was told that they had this same model which was having similar issues, but ours wasn’t produced at the same manufacturing facility so it didn’t qualify. I have received minor burns and cuts, through gaining experience of how to use a stove with a mind of it’s own. I just cannot believe that this company can deny that an operating issue isn’t included in a recall, while the behavior is identical.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Glass Top Range model:E36EC65ESS2 serial No.: NF84621015
Yesterday, December 4th, 2013 my glass cook top glass range made by Electrolux Model N. E36EC65ESS2 serial number :NF84621015 started fire when it was not being used. In proximity of the range there were two candles, not lit, which melted from the excessive heat and large fire started. Fortunately I was in the kitchen and extinguished fire with a minute or so. In case I would be absent the fire would ignite kitchen cabinets above and whole house would burn. In case if this would happen in the night, me and my wife could die due to the fumes inhalation. I am an electrical engineer myself, and I own company which makes electronics for medical research. I am aware of possible design errors which led to manufacture this defective product. I have no schematic of this product, but I suspect that Electrolux is using solid state switches to control voltage to the burners. It is my 40 years experience I know that such devices have inherited failure rate. It my be small but possible. Such solid state device when in failure mode can be either shorted circuited or open. Open will deny voltage to the burners, but shortage will provide unregulated power to the burners and can be source of fire. In addition this units do not have central common, mechanical power on/off swish which could make possible to turn rapidly the range off when solid state switches fail. Recomandation by manufacturer that the circuit braker in the power panel in the basement is not convincing. Power off switch should be next to the range. In conclusion, replacing “defective” controls on the cook top is not a good and sufficient solution. This range should be replaced with reliable design. [REDACTED]

This report relates to a Electrolux smooth top oven. Always worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. Went to oven, and burnt my fingers on top metal part of oven. The cook top was also very, very hot. The front metal attached to the top was very, very hot. Repair man came and tried to diagnose. He called the Frigidaire/Electrolux company and they said there is no regulation or solution for how hot the outside of an oven can become. Something is obviously very wrong with an answer like that. I have children, so this is especially scary for me. No one at Electrolux will help. This is a scary fire/burn hazard with no resolution. Spent $2,300 and very unhappy.

The product, in the report: Electrolux 30” electric freestanding range. Model is EI30EF35JS as far as I can tell.
On Thursday, September 19th, 2013, I returned home at 12:30 PM after having left home around 8:15 AM to find the front, left burner of our Electrolux range red and blazing hot. A number of the objects on the countertops next to the stove were very hot to the touch as well. The control panel indicated that the burner was off, and the “hot surface” light was illuminated. I pressed the off button several times to try to get the burner to turn off but it remained red and hot. My husband was able to pull the stove away from the wall (it is a slide-in style of range) and unplug it, and eventually the burner cooled down.
The last time I used this burner was yesterday, September 18th, from about 5 PM- 5:30 PM. It was off when I left the house this morning.
It is frightening to imagine what would have ensued if something had been left on the range top, or if a breeze from the open window had blown papers from the countertop on to the burner, or if we had been out of town for a few days.
I have since Googled this problem and think that the fuse in the burner shorted out. A repair person is coming out in a few days to address the problem. I cannot believe that there is not an auto-shut-off safety feature that automatically engages when a fuse blows. This range is relatively new, and this type of feature seems like a basic one!

The product, in the report: ELECTROLUX FPEC3685KSA Smooth Cooktop Electric Cooktop
Regarding: Electrolux Smoothtop Cooktop Model: FPEC3685KSA
After cooking pasta for my family a few nights ago using 2 of the 5 burners for about 20 minutes, I was about to walk outside to join them when I noticed a slight burning smell. The burners were all in their off position and the indicator lights all indicated that the burners were turned off. I moved one of the pans to find that one of the small inner burners was on at full blast. I tried to turn it off by turning all of the knobs, but nothing was working so I opened the cabinet under the cooktop hoping to unplug the unit. At that point, a plume of smoke came out from under the cooktop and a strong stream of smoke was emerging from under the unit. Unable to unplug the unit that is hardwired to the wall, I ran outside to flip the breakers.
Last night, I opened up the unit to see that that some of the plastic/wiring was badly burned with scorch marks all over one of the circuit boards.
I feel very fortunate that no one got hurt and that my home is still standing. Given the nature of the problem I could easily have left the house without realizing that the stove was still on. Also given that the unit is hardwired to the wall, if my wife or babysitter had been the ones this had happened to they would not have known how to flip off the circuit breaker and the kitchen would almost certainly have caught fire.
I hope this note has been helpful. I would be happy to send photos of the burnt circuit board if that would be helpful.
Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Electric Smooth Top Range
Sometime around June 7th, 2013 caller’s had cooked supper using their oven, callers wife turned the oven off then sat down to eat dinner.
They began cleaning up after dinner when the range began beeping and displaying an “F1” error code. They went to the electric range and found that the oven was on. The callers tried to turn it off then tried again but it still would not go off. The caller finally disconnected the breaker. They scheduled service for June 28th, 2013. The repair tech advised them that it would $188 plus labor with total cost being around $300.
The repair tech performed a temporary repair with used parts that were in his truck. Caller said it stopped working once since the temporary repair but he beat on it and it began working again. He has not contacted the manufacturer and he does not intend to contact the manufacturer because he said that he did that once and “nothing was ever done”.
Caller is asking that this model be added to the recalled with a free repair at manufacturer expense. There are no injuries being reported

The product, in the report: Smooth top stove
My stove has a burner that will not turn off. It is switched off but keeps heating back up. Further, before it completely would not shut off it kept heat higher than what the setting was supposed to be. There are numerous reports of this but my appliance is not on the recall list. I want to know why!!! It’s the exact same problem with a very simliar model within the same time frame. The model number is FEF366ECD and the serial number is VF65042725. We are now having to turn our breaker off just to be safe. This is completely unexceptable that this issue is not on the recall list.
A similar model with the exact same problem was recalled whereas consumer’s unit has not

The product, in the report: Electric Cooktop and Slide in Range
The consumer says the unit turns on by itself. One night she was asleep and had a teapot sitting on the stove. The stove was off but it turned on by itself and caught the teapot on fire.
The consumer says the model number is listed in the recall (Release #11-016) but the serial number is not visible. Since she cannot provide the manufacturer with the serial number, they are not willing to assist her.
The consumer says that she had a blender sitting next to the stove, part of it was laying on the countertop. The burners came one and damaged the wires to blender and melted into the cook top.
She also has the problem of trying to turn the burners off but they will not. It used to happen to all four burners but not it is only happening to the right side front and the left side back.

On February 9th, 2013 the caller entered her kitchen then noticed that the front left burner of her electric range was on and burning red hot although she had not yet used the range.
In addition to the left front burner of her range turning on spontaneously the other three burners do not heat accordingly. If turning burner to high it will go to medium, if turning to low the burner will go to another setting, none will stay where set. Range had been working fine before this incident.
Caller unplugged range. She said that the switch was repaired by a repair tech but it still does not work properly. so she unplugged it and is afraid to use it or have it plugged in while she is not home or not in the kitchen.
There have been no incidents. Caller contacted manufactuer around February 12th, 2013, was advised that the range was not under warranty.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
The consumer reported that he bought a new Electrolux stove. Whenever the oven was in use it produces a obnoxious gas that made them sick (sore throat, respiratory problems) and made the house smell like there is an electrical fire. This has been ongoing since installation.
12/28/12 The service technician came out and he advised that there was nothing wrong with the oven, they should let the oven burn until the odor dissipates. This procedure was done several times but the odor is getting worse.
Another service call was placed for 1/2/13.
The cooktop works fine but the oven is off-gassing a terrible odor which is not dissipating after 5 months.

Regarding Release # 09-333: Frigidaire and Kenmore Smoothtop Electric Ranges Recalled Due to Fire Hazard.
I would like to report that our Frigidaire Smoothtop Electric Range has some of the same symptoms as those reported in Release # 09-333. Sometimes the elements go to maximum possible heat and stay there, no matter what they are set to, even when turning off the stove. We literally have to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, which is something that the primary user of the stove cannot do.

The product, in the report: Electric Four Burner Range
On October 2nd, 2012 the caller was cooking tomatoes for canning on the front right burner of her electric range when she noticed that they were burning.
Since she never cooks on high she kept turning it down but the temperature kept going higher.
She turned the tomatoes down to 4 and walked away for possibly 5 to 7 minutes when she smelled something and returned to the stove and the tomatoes were burning although they had been in plenty of water at a low temperature. The large pan holds several gallons of liquids (possibly 10).
She threw away all of the tomato solution, cleaned the aluminum canning pan and turned the stove off. The stove kept coming back on although the element read “off” but he burner was bright red and very hot. She kept trying until the third try the burner finally remained off for this time.
She contacted the manufacturer 10/10/2012 and was advised to file a report. While filing her report with the manufacturer she noticed the phone number for CPSC and decided to call this agency also.
October 9th, 2012 she was cooking donuts in oil on the same front right burner with the same results, she kept turning the burner down but it kep going higher and hotter. Again it took several tries to turn the burner off but it finally turned off and remained off.
Caller is asking that this range be investigated and recalled. She is having her range repaired today 10/10/2012 if under $500 or she is purchasing another if over $500 and would ask that she be reimbursed for whichever avenue taken.

While the consumer was using the left front burner on a medium setting for five minutes he noticed that the temperature changed. The element began to glow red indicating that it was on a higher temperature.
The consumer attempted to switch the burner in the off position but it would not power off. He then simultaneously switched it from on/off for thirty minutes and the burner finally powered off.
The consumer also noticed that the back right burner experiences the same hazard as the left front burner. The failure has occurred intermittently since 02/01/2012.
The consumer stated that he very seldom uses the back right burner. While doing some research online on 2/29/2012 he came across a recall (see Release #09-333)
The firm was contacted on 3/1/2012 and the consumer was advised that his model number was affected by the recall. The firm offered to send out a service technician but the consumer would be responsible for the cost of labors and parts.
The consumer declined and states that he will locate a repair company and have them make any necessary repairs.
To date no repairs have been made and when the consumer leaves the home he unplugs the range from the outlet.

The product, in the report: Smooth Top Electric Cooktop
Caller purchased electric cooktop in April 2001 and had no problems with it until sometime around February 2010 when he noticed that the right front element was turning back on after he cooked and turned it off, at that time he would jiggle the knob and then be able to turn the element on again then off and it would remain turned off for the time being. Manufacturer was not notified.
This has continued to happen over the next two years to date, caller continued to jiggle the knob to be able to turn it off but now it takes a bit more manuevering. Manufacturer not contacted during this time frame either.
January 13th, 2012 caller had been cooking, finished, turned element to off position, however it continued to stay on and caller again had to jiggle the knob and continue to jiggle it until it would stay off. He contacted the manufacturer January 13th, 2012, spoke with Larry in Customer service and created case# 37463332 & was told that his unit was not on recall however they provided the part number needed for repair so that he could purchase and install. Caller noted that manufacturer rep was extremely helpful and polite.
Caller would like to request repair at manufacturer expense or at least for labor to be paid at manufacturer expense.
UPDATE: Consumer’s concern with the cooktop is based on the potential danger of the unit to start a fire or burn the user. Frequently they use the stovetop, turn the burner to the off position and leave the area. Often they return later to find that the stovetop is “hot” or “glowing.” This would indicate that the stovetop is active in the off position on the dial. This activity is cause for concern. The problem needs to be fixed.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
On December 1st, 2011 caller was in the kitchen having dinner with her family.
When she realized that there was an odd smell, she didn’t find it right away so sat back down but then she noticed that the oven or range was flashing “ER F9 or ER F10” (she was upset and can’t quite remember which code)
She opened the oven door and felt heat that was hot to the degree she had never felt at any other time opening an oven door.
She shut the door immediately as her 13yr old son grabbed the fire extinguisher and her 9yr old daughter thought she would need to evacuate due to the immediate heat in the kitchen. As she shut the oven door the panel flashed “Door Lock Error”. Caller’s husband immediately turned breaker off.
Caller had contacted the manufacturer for her range on December 1st, 2011 to report that her oven was heating by itself. She was told that there was nothing they would do for her oven but that there was a recall on her range but that it was for the burners and they would repair those. Frigidaire Electric Range Model with Serial# Previously recalled and repaired for burners release# 11-016 December 9th, 2011
[REDACTED](not related to caller) of Mike’s Appliance Repair (828) 754-0863 said that if he had this range he would never leave his home without turning the breaker off.
He also informed Frigidaire that they should be paying for the repair and looking into this issue.
The manufacturer refused to repair the oven although it is coming on by itself at such a high degree that some cheese that had been spilled n the oven earlier had turned gray and disintegrated.
Frigidaire told the caller that the range is over a year old so there is nothing they can do.
Caller contacted nearby television station who is interested in coming out to cover the story.
Caller would like this range replaced at manufacturer expense based on their servicer,s assessment but at the very least to reimburse her the $286.20 she paid to have the oven repaired after only three years of ownership.

Electrolux electric range FPES3085KFD ceramic top Had my [REDACTED], stainless steel (recommended) dutch oven on the stove top. I slid it to the side on the top when completed because the element takes a long time to cool down. I shortly smelled a horrible smell. The front control panel holding the nobs was smoldering and had melted. Apparently, the pan was to close to the panel holding the nobs. I had no way of knowing the panel adjoining the hot cook top was PLASTIC. The chemical smell took days to get out of the house. I was wheezing lots. There is nothing in the booklet that advises of this problem. No plastic should be touching the cook top. There should be a recall and have this panel replaced. Fortunately, I only lost a favorite pan but a serious injury could easily occur.
I would like to encourage a recall of this part to be replaced with a ceramic or metal part before someone is seriously burned.

She left both oven doors open and the smoke dissipate and the sparks went away. The range was not in use prior to the failure occurring
She contacted the firm on 10/23/2011 and spoke with the representative (name not provided) who offered to send out a technician and 20% off the parts but she would be responsible to pay for the labor. The consumer was not satisfied with the outcome so she wrote a letter to the firm on 10/23/2011.

She has decided to replace the range but will not take delivery of it until 12/6/2011 and is currently using the range with caution until she gets the new unit. No further information was provided.

No one hurt Made Nov 22, 2011, sent to the company Dec 21, 2011, published by CPSC Jan 6, 2012
The product, in the report: Electric 4 burner Range
Range was recalled 09-333, Caller turned her electric range on to preheat around November 14th or 15th, walked into another room, heard a loud pop possibly two minutes later and immediately saw a large black cloud of smoke coming out of the kitchen, she immediately went to the kitchen, turned the stove off, then called her husband.
Caller contacted manufacturer who sent a recall kit November 16th. They also called a repair tech who said the moisture sitting on the control board of course would affect it’s performance and cause it to short out.
Caller’s would like manufacturer either to reimburse them the $309.00 they paid to repair the fire obviously caused by the control board lacking the moisture seal or replace the range at manufacturer expense.

Emergency room Made Sep 8, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 30, 2011
The product, in the report: This product is a standard 30-inch wide freestanding electric range, clad in stainless steel.
I continue to cut myself deeply when operating near and around my Electrolux freestanding electric range. On the last occasion, the cut was so severe that I was forced to go to the emergency room for treatment, as my urgent care provider couldn’t stitch the wound.
Upon close examination of this stove, I have found that there are RAZOR SHARP edges to the stainless steel trim pieces that line both sides of the oven door. These edges are carried by the design all the way to the ground, and are EASILY reachable by children of all ages. Based on the fact that I cannot seem to clean my cabinets around this oven without receiving serious cuts, it would seem to me that this product suffers from a design defect that poses a SERIOUS risk to ANY household with children.

The product, in the report: Electric cook top
The cook top and oven were both powered in the off position when she heard a popping sound she also noticed that smoke began to pour from the back of the unit. When she was facing the cook top she noticed that there were also sparks flying from the unit.
The circuit breaker was then pulled to cease all power to the unit. She will contact the firm and is not considering repairing the unit but may consider replacing it. The circuit breaker is still currently in the off position to prevent a fire.
