  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 29, 2025, sent to the company Jan 9, 2026, published by CPSC Jan 28, 2026

The product, in the report: GE electric single wall oven CTS90DP3ND1, approximately 30-inch built-in unit installed in a residential kitchen. The appliance is hardwired and used for normal household cooking.

A GE single wall oven (CTS90DP3ND1) experienced repeated failures and, following normal use, caused a complete electrical power outage in my apartment. The outage required building electrical intervention to restore power.

GE acknowledged a safety concern and escalated the appliance internally. Due to the electrical incident and potential fire risk, the oven has been disconnected and is currently unusable. There have been several failed attempts from the GE technicians to repair the oven, they insist on connecting it to test it.

The product, in the report: GE Cafe 30” Induction Cooktop

Our GE Cafe induction cooktop can be activated and set to high simply by placing your palm or other skin onto the controls and holding it there. Our dog was able to do this getting onto the counter and a pot of soup boiled off and began to burn, filling our home with smoke while we were away. The stove was not on when we left and the pot was left on the cooktop. Fortunately a lid was on the pot and the stove must have overheated, since it shut itself off eventually. The dog has activated the stove this way twice and I can recreate it easily with my own hand. The cooktop itself appears to have been damaged, but I’m hoping we can clean it off.
