  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made May 26, 2026, sent to the company May 29, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2026

The product, in the report: Double wall oven / electric wall oven

am reporting a safety issue with a BlueStar double wall oven, Model BSDEWO30SDV2, purchased on 07/04/21 and installed in January 2022. The lower oven door has fallen off repeatedly. The lower oven has been used very lightly, approximately four times per year since installation.

The door has detached multiple times despite service visits, including service while the oven was under warranty and additional service after the warranty expired. All repairs, including door removal and replacement, have been performed by BlueStar-certified technicians. A BlueStar-certified technician replaced the hinges with a newer model at one point, but the problem continued.

The most recent incident occurred while the oven was hot. The lower oven door fell off and nearly hit my foot. This created a risk of impact injury and burn injury from the hot door and hot oven surfaces. The falling door also dented my brand-new wooden floor, causing property damage and demonstrating the force of the failure. I am concerned that someone could be seriously injured if the door falls off again while the oven is in use.

The lower oven door is currently detached, and the lower oven cannot be used safely. I am preserving the oven in its current condition unless instructed otherwise by the manufacturer or a qualified safety authority.

I previously contacted BlueStar approximately one year ago about the problem. BlueStar told me the oven was out of warranty and that I should contact a certified repairperson, which I did. The repairs have not corrected the problem. I am requesting records from the service company to confirm the specific service dates, invoices, technician notes, and parts replaced.

I am reporting this because the repeated detachment of a hot oven door appears to be a serious safety hazard. I am also unable to safely use the lower oven, which means I do not have safe use of half of the appliance.

(10/6/2026) The manufacturer stated that, “The company has been in contact with the consumer and is working with the consumer to schedule an in-home inspection of the unit so that it can be properly repaired.” However, four months have now passed since the incident and my oven has not been repaired.

The manufacturer identified a repair that could be done on the oven so the door would not fall off but they could not find someone local to do the repair since it involved removing the double oven unit from the wall. They seem to have given up. I was emailing them weekly and getting a response saying that they were working on it, although no action was taken. I now haven’t heard from them for two weeks.

The bottom line is that, after four months, I still have an oven with no door.
