The product, in the report: Samsung Bespoke glass front oven
The frontmounted control knob on the Samsung electric range was unintentionally activated without my knowledge, causing a burner to turn on and ignite nearby materials. This resulted in a major residential fire with significant property damage. This hazard is consistent with the failure mode described in Samsungs 2024 recall involving unintentional burner activation but involves a model that has not yet been listed on the recall list.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Slide in Range white glass front
Samsung oven dials are way too easy to turn on. If a person leans on them they turn on! A dozen times I have experienced the burners turn on when not intended. One time I luckily noticed that the burner was on as indicated by the lighted knob, and then noticed my plastic microwave cover was sitting on the burner. It started to melt. I truned off the burner, removed the melted cover and scraped the plastic off the burner. If I had not been there to remove the lid, it could have caused a major fire. Another time it happened, I had a plastic spoon rack that become scorched. Luckily I happened to be there to see that the burner had turned on. I must have leaned on it. This is a serious fire hazard that must be addressed. There is very little pressure needed to turn the knob, and the distance that the knob needs to be pushed is only about 2mm! I am very scared for anyone that has this stove as it is a major fire hazard. I called Samsung and they told me to go out and buy covers for the knobs. They did not seem at all concerned that this is a fire hazard. I have had 2 previous slide-in stoves (different brands) and have never experienced this type of safety issue.
UPDATED ON 6/27/2023: [After submitting this claim. I received a call from Samsung who scheduled an appointment for a tech to come to my home to inspect the range. When the tech arrived I explained the issue and he was required to contact a Samsung representative who instructed the technician to take a video of him turning on the knob. He took a video of the burner that he turned on. He left. The next day I received a text from a number [REDACTED]. This is number is out of service. The text is as follows. “My name is [REDACTED] and I’m contacting you regarding your Samsung range. The nature of this communication is to confirm the findings of our authorized technicians. They have confirmed the unit was deemed as no defect found. At this time the claim is being closed as this is not considered to be a mechanical defect.”
Did you receive a response as well?
I dispute this finding because the potential of a fire is great. The knobs are not so sensitive that they easily turn on when one leans on them. There was no preventive action taken or suggested to me. A few days later I visited a [REDACTED] store which carries samsung ranges with identical knobs. I was able to easily show the sales person that they can be turned on by simply leaning on them and then slightly turning your body. Which indicates to me that samsung is not taking any steps to improve this potential fire hazard.
Please investigate this further. I am concerned about people burning their houses down. I have had many years of experience with slide-in style ranges and I have never had knobs so sensitive as these.]
