The product, in the report: Black Stove Appliance Type: Range Model number: ACR4203MNB Serial number: RE0614900
I have an (Amana brand) stove that was purchased less than a year ago so I am still under manufacturing warranty. On top of that I purchased an extended warranty. On Sunday, September 21, 2025 my daughter was boiling water on the back left side burner. It started smoking pretty bad then caught fire. At first we couldnt get the fire to stop so we called the fire department while trying to contain it. Eventually after covering the fire with a lid it eventually stopped and went out. The fire department came to make sure the fire was completely out. Advised us not to use the burner until the stove had been serviced and looked at. I have been trying to contact Amana who I registered my appliance with via their card that is attached to the information booklet of the stove. I tried reaching them through their chat feature on their website that was of no assistance and I couldnt access a live agent so I decided to call their hotline. Nobody answers the phone and you are held on the phone for long periods of time. I tried calling several different times/days and still couldnt get through. Then I reached out by email to explain the situation with my appliance as well as informing them of how difficult it is to get through to them. They basically blew me off in their response email and suggested I call the same number I had been calling to get assistance. I told them I was not going to call them again because they dont answer. They replied by sending me their website link to reach out via the other ways I have already tried. Im tired of the back and forth and lack of care for my situation while I have an appliance I cant get full use of and could possibly pose a hazard to me and my family. I just want my stove to be looked at and fixed or replaced. Whichever is necessary, but Im not getting anywhere with the company.

The product, in the report: Stove, white, with one oven, 2 large burners, 2 small burners, and control knobs on a raised panel to the rear of the range top.
At two separate times, first one and then the other large burner on the stove went from Medium to High while cooking food. Both times resulted in smoke and burnt food. I did turn off the burners before a fire started (no injuries). On a different day, retesting of one of the large burners led to the burner going from Medium to High (no control knobs turned). In yet another incident with this stove, the oven no longer works.

No one hurt Made Feb 27, 2020, sent to the company Mar 12, 2020, published by CPSC Mar 26, 2020
The product, in the report: Amana Electric Stove/Range
We had a small electrical fire in the kitchen which turned out to be due to our Amana (Whirlpool) range being sold without a protective panel which would have housed electrical contacts. One of the erroneously exposed electrical contacts at the bottom/rear of the range apparently came into contact with the back of the plug while it was plugged into the wall. The heat from the resulting energy transfer melted part of the rubber plug housing, caused a wire to completely sever and melted some of the nearby parts and a pile of ash was produced. Luckily no injuries or further damage.
I went to a home improvement store to get parts and, while there, looked at some similar Amana ranges. All of the ranges in the store had protective panels protecting the electrical contacts which ours did not. I called Whirlpool for the part and they quoted a price but I reminded them that the part was never included and should have been, they agreed to ship the panel.

The product, in the report: Amana electric stove 30 inches Model #AER5830VA
I was broiling a steak in a new Amana electric stove (9 months old). The directions are to broil on the center rack with the door opened. I was in the next room and heard a loud pop. I ran into the kitchen and the kitchen towel was on fire. The towel was crumpled on the counter 12 inches from the open door. I did take pictures and measurements. Towel and counter were burning. I called the manufacturer and they sent a service man the next morning. He came and determined that it was a freak grease fire. The first thing he said was I should not have had the door open. I had him read the book directions. He said that stoves now have a thermostat and broiling is done with the door closed. This stove is their bottom of the line and has no thermostat. In that case all stoves no matter how basic should have a thermostat. This might have been tragic if a child was by the counter or the cabinets caught fire. The first incident with this stove was a few weeks before when I removed a pan from the heating element and there was a melted area. Their tech insists it is a gouge which is false. I did not know glass could melt. I am not new to cooking. I have been doing it for 40 years and have never had either of the above happen. This is not a safe product.

The product, in the report: Amana electric range AER3311WAW0
Amana electric range model aer3311waw0. When the oven switch was turned on the switch started making a buzzing noise and black smoke appeared from behind the switch. I removed the switch and it was charred and melted on the bottom.
My concern is if the oven was in use and unattended a fire could have destroyed my house and/or caused possible injuries to persons and pets.

The product, in the report: white electric range Amana big oven 5.1 c
My Amana big Oven door melted in clean mode. After I turned it to clean the oven locked and the surrounding outer top and door became extremely hot though unaware of the magnitude of damage until 3 hours of cleaning the door unlocked and an error message blinked where I turned the oven off. Even with the unusual smell and fumes that filled the kitchen there were no signs of what was happening until I opened the door. If I were not at home to keep an eye on it, it would have caught fire.

The product, in the report: Amana smooth cooktop-electric white glass4 burner cooktop with two dual burners
Amana smooth cooktop has malfunctioned many times. The first incident was when the large portion of both dual burners can’t be adjusted-they go right to “high”-even when on low setting. One of these burners blew out, and I called the manufacturer. They said there were no issues with the unit and suggested I call a repair service. Jarvis (from whom the unit was purchased) replaced the part and it worked for a while before happening again. Most recently, the cooktop comes on spontaneously when in the off position. I have discovered this several times now, once in the morning after double checking it the night before. I now have to turn the unit on and off at the circuit breaker in the basement every time I want to use it. This has been an ongoing issue-I have contacted Amana several times, and they won’t do anything. I plan on replacing it, but I feel like the issue needs to be addressed due to the hazardous nature of the problem.

The product, in the report: Amana Electric Built-in double oven
I purchased a Amana electric double oven whicn was installed professionally when we build our home in 2007. In 2010 the outer glass door window on the upper oven shattered without warning while cooking sending thousands of pieces of glass all over the floor and into the oven and meal being prepared. In December 2011 the outer glass dooe window on the lower oven shattered into thousands of pieces for no apparent reason. The oven was not in use and had last been used 4 weeks prior and no one was near the oven when it shattered on its own. Amana has refused to be of assistance and it has cost nearly $600 to repair both doors. The door obviously has some sort of defect since in the most recent case, there was no one using the oven at the time of the breakage.

The product, in the report: an Amana electric range
We have an Amana electric range, Model ARR3400W, and the left front burner control has failed. Instead of just not working, it has failed ‘ON’ and keeps the burner on high, bright red, regardless of the control setting. My wife sat a pot on the burner yesterday, turned the control to low, and walked away. I heard the noise of a pot boiling over and came to investigate and found the burner red but the control was set to low. We’ve tested it several times with the same results. If this had been a container with grease, it could have been catastrophic!
Apparently I am not the only one with a switch stuck on HI. When searching for parts, I found this note on the appliance parts website:
“Small burner full hot all the time. Defective switch had stuck contacts making it full hot. From: http://www.partselect.com/PS2088568-Whirlpool-74011243-Surface-Infinite-Switch.htm?SourceCode=5&SearchTerm=arr3400w&ModelNum=arr3400w “

The product, in the report: wall oven Model AOCS3040E
I have an Amana range model AOCS3040E It failed and when we opened it up found a high voltage wire running lose and near the housing had touched the side and belew out (charing markes are redaly aparent as the wire welded to the housing). on further inspection realized there were 5 such wires floting in the air that could wiggle from shutting the door and short acainst the housing applying 120 volts to the housing that is commonly touched by the user and creating the potential for electricution and or fire. Common practice is to use insulated wiring for these high voltage lines to insure they can not short to something, but for some reason this unit was assembled with these wires exposed and with no insulation. The other wires in the oven are properly insulated but not these.

The product, in the report: Electric range. Amana. model # AER5830VAB0 Serial # RY3816920
We bought an Amana range in 10/2009. Model number AER5830VAB0. Serial number RY3816920. We heard an electrical popping sound coming from behind the knob of a burner. When we had a service person come out today, he said that he has seen this problem before with this type of range and that if he replaced it he would be replacing it with the same part. He said that 2 of our 4 burners have shorted out and that another one looks like it will in the future. To use the burners as they are is a fire hazard.
How can I have him repair the parts with the same part that broke and could cause a fire? Also, if he did the repair, it would cost almost as much as we paid for the range in the first place. I called the company, and they won’t do anything because our warrantee is up. How can they use parts that break so easily? I am furious that they have put my family in danger.
