The product, in the report: Electric Iron

Shortly after the consumer’s wife was using the iron (setting is cotton) for approximately five minutes and she left for a brief second and when she returned the room was filled with smoke.

The plate of the iron was discolored and the source of where the smoke was coming from. There was a plastic burning odor in the home . The consumer unplugged the iron from the wall outlet and placed it outside.

The consumer indicated that the iron has a automatic switch on it so it is always plugged into the wall outlet and in the event that they were not home it could possibly pose as a fire hazard. Red light was on, indicating iron was off.

The firm was contacted on 10/5/2011 and he was only able to leave a message. He then sent an email to the retailer. He isn’t sure if he would return the iron .
