The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Jul 15, 2023, sent to the company Jul 18, 2023, published by CPSC Aug 1, 2023

The product, in the report: Clover mini iron, clover mini iron II with adapter. This is a very small iron for quilters to press seams open, designed much like a hair curling iron. There is a safety cage on the underside of the iron, but not on the top 1/3, which is exposed. The entire metal piece can heat to 560 deg F. Why is the entire shaft not covered, except the tip, since it heats all through the shaft? This could easily be made safer.

2nd degree burn (bubbled blister) to my thumb while manipulating the iron, very brief contact. Treated at home with Aloe Vera.

  2. First aid

Made Dec 2, 2019, sent to the company Dec 27, 2019, published by CPSC Jan 10, 2020

The product, in the report: Clover mini iron model 9100. white plastic body, metal iron plate and red guard over both sides, but not top or bottom, of the metal tube that holds the ironing plate. Per website the low temperature is 220 degrees F, the middle temperature is 390 degrees F and the high temperature is 560 degrees F

I was using the Clover mini iron model 9100 to iron a craft project. The barrel of the iron ( between the handle and the ironing plate is open with only a guard on the side, but not the top or bottom) gets hot and i placed my right index finger there on accident while trying to get better pressure to the ironing plate end. I have owned this iron for about 1-2 years but use it infrequently because i burn myself every time that i use it. I believe that the design is very flawed and i know that i am not the only person who has burned themselves badly with it. This time, i got a 2nd degree burn on my right index finger.

The product, in the report: Clover Mini Iron 2

I was using a Clover Mini Iron 2 earlier last week. When I use the mini iron, I keep it on the stand that came with the iron. In addition, the stand is kept on a mini ironing surface. I forgot to turn this iron off and it does not automatically shut off unfortunately! I went in to sew yesterday and found that the stand has completely melted and the iron was covered in melted plastic and had began to burn a hole through my ironing surface. Very dangerous! Plus there is a portion of the iron that does not cover a metal rod that makes it easy to burn your fingers. I am very fortunate that I went back in there to sew yesterday or I definitely think major damage could have been done to my home.

The product, in the report: Clover Mini Iron II

The item is a Clover Mini Iron II (model 9100). It is a small iron to be used in quilting and crafting. There is a shaft that goes from the handle to the ironing tip that gets very hot. It has a safety shield that goes around the bottom and sides of this shaft, but is totally open at the top. While ironing with it my finger accidentally touched the shaft on the open part at the top and I got a burn on my finger tip.

The safety shield should go all the way around the shaft.

The product, in the report: craft iron 120v 45w used to press small pieces

Often, when I or my students or family use the mini iron, a finger or hand comes in contact with the shaft which is exceedingly hot. This morning when I burned myself, it blistered.
