As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Black + Decker Easy Steam Compact Iron, Trueglide Nonstick Soleplate with EvenSteam design. Main body is white plastic with with dark gray accents and dark teal blue water reservoir. https://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-IR06V-Steam-Iron/dp/B07FKRJTFZ

I purchased an iron on Amazon and it arrived on 5/31/24. Today, 6/1/24 I took it out to use it. I filled it with water below the max fill line, plugged it in, and used it to iron two shirts. It dripped water all over my hardwood floor, it soaked my ironing board, and it sputtered steaming water all over my shirts. Most of the water leaked onto the floor, and I think it was for the most part room temperature, but I did feel some splatters (small droplets of water) from the impact onto the floor, and they felt hot to me (I was barefoot at the time). The iron is also very lightweight, even with water in it. This, coupled with the fact that it does not stand well on the ironing board because its cord is awkwardly placed, means that it feels likely to tip over. Because of the awkwardly placed cord, the only way to sit the iron upright is to place it right on the edge of the ironing board, with the cord draped over the end. This makes it even more likely to fall. If you read some of the negative reviews for this product on Amazon, you will see that at least one person has been burned from trying to catch the iron as it was falling. Their review is titled “Dangerous” and frankly I agree with them. I don’t trust this product not to burn me with scalding water and I’m sure it would have eventually fallen off my ironing board had I continued using it, potentially burning my legs or feet.
