The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 19, 2013, sent to the company Nov 27, 2013, published by CPSC Dec 12, 2013

The product, in the report: Refrigerator

My refrigerator caught fire on 11/4/13 at 3:00AM. My daughter awakened to get a drink of soda. She closed the refrigerator door and then heard a pop and sizzle sound. She then noticed smoke and the flame coming from the rear of the refrigerator. She immediately unplugged the power cord from the outlet and the flame and smoke stopped. She then woke me and upon examination I found the start relay that mounts to the compressor was melted along with the wire connections. This could easily have caused my house to catch since the refrigerator sits next to a wall. I was fortunate that my daughter was present when the incident occurred.
