The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

ADJUSTABLE THERMOSTAT CONTROL: Flip switch to cool or warm. Cools to 32F and warms up to 131F. ECO-FRIENDLY AND QUIET: Advanced semiconductor, freon-free. Plugs into AC 120V outlet, includes 12V car adapter. Operates at 25dB. 10.4”D x 7.2”W x 10.65”H

I noticed an unusual smell in my home office yesterday that I could not identify. This morning I discovered visible burn/scorch marks around the power switch (COLD/OFF/HOT positions) on my Sweetcrispy 4L Mini Fridge (portable cooler/warmer). The scorching was significant enough to have discolored and melted the plastic casing around the switch panel. The unit was being used as a basic beverage cooler in a home office, plugged into a standard 120V AC outlet, and was only used to store canned water. It was not overloaded or misused in any way. No injuries occurred and the failure was contained to the switch panel, but the thermal damage represents a clear fire hazard that could have had serious consequences had it not been discovered promptly. I am reporting this because I am aware that this same brand (Sweetcrispy) has a prior CPSC recall for a pressure washer due to electrocution hazards related to missing GFCI protection, suggesting a pattern of electrical safety issues across their product line. The product listing on Amazon is now marked as unavailable. I have photographic documentation of the damage available.
