My daughter received several appliances less than 2 months ago as graduation gifts through her Amazon Graduation Gift List. Friends and family purchased them directly from Amazon and had them shipped to our home. We stored all of the items carefully in a safe room until it was time to move her to college. Yesterday, we moved her into her dorm and set up the appliances for the first time. Today, she called me early in the morning after returning from breakfast because her dorm room smelled like something was burning. She and her roommate began checking the room and discovered that the mini refrigerator was leaking oil and smelled strongly of burning. They immediately contacted a school associate, who required them to unplug the unit and remove it from the dorm room due to the hazard. [REDACTED] No fire or injury occurred yet, but these appliances were practically new, used for the first time in the dorm, and are already creating serious fire and electrical hazards.
