The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Refrigerator LG Model 79577312600

LG Refrigerator purchased from Sears as a Kenmore appliance [3 door type]. When I happened to open the door of the fridge. I smelled smoke or something burning and noticed the light unit with control temperature panel had began to melt light bulb cover. It was extremely hot, so tried to loosen, unscrew the bulbs; the unit pulled away from its housing on the inside roof of the refrigerator. Now have no lights, but at least its not burning up. Tried to work with Sears Repair--no help. Independent dealer in our small town is trying to figure out what to do to try and fix, but will more than likely get this refrig. [AKA oven] hauled away to be replaced with a new NON LG product. Not worth the worry of when it will happen again. Reading all the same type of complaints certainly indicates a recall should be made; looking at new refrigs notice the design has changed somewhat [flush surface, no control board, and small LED lights completely covered], but still would NOT trust LG based on their history record of not seeming to do things for other clients registering the same problem many many times over. Seems like a typical wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing--or playing 3 blind mice--hear, see and do nothing about a problem being expressed time and time again. Customer service is thing of the past.

Hope some sort of resolution will be made before further damages occur to others and possibly at a horrendous cost!
