The product, in the report: HITY Motor brand New Part IM900 Refrigerator Icemaker. Replacement ice maker purchased from Amazon.

We purchased the HITY Motor brand Part IM900 Refrigerator Icemaker from Amazon on October 12, 2025. We installed it in early November. We recently noticed flecks of particles in our ice (see attached), so we melted some of it and found flakes which were light colored on one side, gray on the other. We poured it onto a paper towel, and could see the flakes (image attached). We do not have hard water. Water coming out of our faucet does not have flakes, and we checked the water coming directly out of the line into the icemaker, which also doesn’t have flakes. We took the ice maker out and saw that the [REDACTED]-like coating in the ice mold tray is peeling (see attached). I turned the unit upside down and flakes of the coating fell out without any shaking; there are a lot of them! This ice maker has been in use for less than three months; there is no way it should be deteriorating like this! We are concerned about the health impact of having consumed the amount of coating we can see has come off the ice maker into our ice, and are very concerned about other consumers who buy this product and end up consuming the coating. While I chose “Incident, no injury,” we truly have no idea what harm this may be causing, or will cause, my family, since it is something we ingested.
