The refrigerator’s single-evaporator system experienced an immediate airflow failure because standard groceries shifted against the flush interior vents and side walls. This completely blocked the cooling loop, causing the fresh food compartment to rapidly drop in efficiency and heat up all at once. This design flaw creates an immediate, recurring hazard for severe food spoilage, bacterial growth, and significant financial property loss right out of the box. there is an immediate risk of illness from foodborne bacteria. Because the airflow loop blocks completely without warning when groceries are placed normally on the shelves, the internal temperature rises into the food danger zone, creating a silent hazard for severe food poisoning and bacterial growth.

The freezer door handle cracked and came off when trying to open my GE bottom freezer french door refrigerator. The model number is GNE25JKSS. I see other GE refrigerators were recalled for a similar problem but not this model. The product was being used for residential purposes in an ordinary residential setting. There were no injuries, but this was a fall risk.

The freezer handle on my GE stand alone French Door refrigerator suddenly broke off while a family member was using the freezer drawer. They fell backwards and could have hit their head on the counter behind them. This refrigerator has been recalled (Recall number:22-117), but it appears my particular model was missed in the recall and would explain why I was not notified of the recall. The handle is the same non robust design on the recalled models and the failure mechanism is exactly the same. The plastic attachment clip and the plastic handle broke apart causing the stumble backwards. My refrigerator is registered with GE Appliances. I have owned and used the refrigerator for 13 months.

Door handle of bottom freezer suddenly broke off of the freezer when trying to open the freezer. This is on a GE French Door Refrigerator with bottom freezer (GNE25JSKLFSS). Person almost fell over as it broke. This seems to be the same issue that led to a recall on other GE French door refrigerators, although this model was not included in the recall.

While cleaning a tempered glass shelf from our GE refrigerator, it spontaneously combusted and exploded in my face. Pieces of glass flew all over the kitchen (as much as 10 FEET AWAY!). I had glass all over me, in my hair, down my shirt, etc. the broken glass continued with a strange popping sound wherever it was touching water. This strange sound continued for about ten minutes. The shelf was not cold when washed (it was room temperature) and the water used was lukewarm.

GE refrigerator model # GNE25JYKHFFS not cooling fridge. The evaporator fan will run continuously, but the dampener remains closed. Internal fridge temperature has reached 50+F multiple times, causing food spoilage and discard. The manufacturer does not seem to care that the complaint is regarding food safety. There are parts to replace, but GE refuses to swap unit, causing multiple weeks without a functional refrigerator.

I open the refrigerator door to place a covered bowl of food on the lower level in the back. After I did, so, I stood up. At that moment, I bang my head on the freezer door handle. I experienced head pain, neck, pain, and back pain. I had already bumped my head twice before in the same manner with pain, but I felt I could get over it with [REDACTED]. This time the pain was more intense, so I sat down I laid down, felt very tired. I then decided that I better call my primary doctor. I called the office and was told there are no appointments available until September 6 or September 9. I don’t recall which date. I was advised that I should go to urgent care or the emergency room I said I could not drive. it was suggested to me that they do a video call and I said I’ll do that. They scheduled a video call for [REDACTED] o’clock. I logged on my chart with an headache and was connected at [REDACTED] PM. but no one connected with me until [REDACTED] PM. I was told I could not be diagnosed over the phone and that I needed to go to urgent care or the emergency room. I felt tired and had no energy which is not like me. I took [REDACTED] and melatonin, and went to bed. when I woke up in the morning, I still felt off-balance, headachy, neck and shoulder stiffness. I thought I should get checked out, so I drove to urgent care which was a mile from me. urgent care talk to me and told me I needed to go to the emergency room which was about 2 miles.. since it was early in the morning I drove and I took the back roads. At the emergency room I was seen by five different medical staff. I was diagnosed with a concussion and neck spasms. I was told I should get a CAT scan, which I was against as I had read that these scans contribute to cancer. [REDACTED] advised me to get the cat scan to rule out brain trauma because of my symptoms.

Large sharp pieces of the clear plastic auger in the ice maker bin chip off and end up in glasses of ice water. They look just like pieces of ice and can be very difficult to distinguish from ice. Thankfully they were caught each time before they were ingested by anyone. This is a serious safety concern and needs to be treated as such by GE.
This is the second time this has happened. The first time the refrigerator was covered under the extended warranty and the entire bin was replaced free of charge. I contacted GE customer service and they didn’t seem to care to much about the issue. They offered to send out a technician for a fee and take a look at it.

We have a GE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator which has a loose handle on the freezer, and we have experienced one time on the right fridge door handle, which has come off on multiple occasions. Our Serial Number letters at the start of DR match the current recall, but our Model Number letters of GYE do not. Our particular refrigerator’s information is Model: GYE22GYNBFS with Serial: DR522747. I, the home owner, as well as my wife were using the refrigerator when the fall hazard instances have occurred. No injuries have occurred, but when the right door handle fell, our 2 year old son was walking nearby (we were getting him milk).
Additionally, where parts 121 and 124 attach to 150 ([REDACTED]), the Icebox Door lever (diagram parts 121 and 124) unattached when opening the lever and the icebox (diagram part 641) came flying down smashing into the floor nearly smashing my foot. The incredibly thin pieces of plastic holding the lever in place have broken off and are no longer supporting the lever locking the icebox door (diagram part 150) in place. The minute piece of plastic that has broken is part of diagram part 150 (component of icebox part number WR78X25914) has a new part number of WR78X26087 (icebox) as a replacement.

The product, in the report: GE Bottom Freezer Refregerator
My GE refrigerator MODEL GFE 28GELGDS SERIAL DR514650 has very loose handles for the bottom freezer. The refrigerator was purchased in 2021, and delivered in May 2021. I was surprised that this model was not included in the recent recall. We have been aware of the problem for months and are very careful when opening the freezer. We use the sides of the freezer instead of the handle and warn my grandchidren and visitors to be careful when they open the freezer.

The product, in the report: GE Appliance bottom freezer refrigerator with French doors, ice maker & water dispenser. Stainless steel exterior, 70h x 35 3/4w x 33 1/2d.
I received a recall notice of our refrigerator, a GE free-standing French door refrigerator with a bottom drawer, because the handle could pull off while using, creating a possible fall hazard. It is used by me, my wife and our grown daughter in our kitchen as designed. While there were no injuries, it has pulled off three times. Each time I snapped it back in place, blaming the problem on sloppy engineering and/or poor workmanship.
