    The product, in the report: A red Galanz retro style injection mold refrigerator. Model GLR76TRDER, production date January 2020.

    My model, an injection molded fridge which cannot be repaired due to the issue being a leak of refrigerant chemicals which poses the additional risk of a reported fire hazard located between the sealed injection molded walls, has been recalled. Refrigerant chemicals leaked into my freezer, contaminating all the food I had stored inside of it - which my family and I had been eating unknowingly until I pulled a bag out from the depth of the freezer and found the blue waxy chemical coating the bag and the surrounding accumulated ice. I have attempted to seek a recall from Galanz twice and they never contacted me back after my ticket was escalated to their corporate office. They first tried telling me they had no obligation to replace it, which is factually incorrect and legally problematic. They then tried saying they couldn’t do anything about it because the model was never sold outside of the US which is also factually untrue, and evidenced by the manufacturer label being printed according to the Canadian standard of dual English and French language for legal sale within Canada.

    The product, in the report: Red Galanz retro household refrigerator 7.5 cu. Ft.

    We were using the Galanz retro refrigerator in our basement. We noticed that it wasn’t really cold and thought it needed Freon. One night smoke filled the house and it was coming from the basement. Flames were coming out of the refrigerator. I was not home, my mother was with my children. My mother said that she and my son were able to get the fire out with water and batting it with towels. I did not see the fire, but it was pretty big but my mom didn’t want my house to burn down, which it would have if any more time had passed. The wall and floor is obviously ruined. You can see in the back of the refrigerator that the fire came from the motor. It was NOT due to the outlet.

    A fire in the freezer section of the refrigerator. Galanz refrigerator 4.6 cu ft. Individual bought the refrigerator 6 months later a fire occurred in the refrigerator. No injuries occurred.
