The product, in the report: We have a refrigerator that was part of the ice bucket recall, recall date 2/8/2024 (recall number 24-110) . Model # LGHK2336TF0 with serial # 4A74117874. A new ice bucket to replace one that functioned flawlessly for over five years. The new ice bucket did not even last two months before cracking, as you can see from the attached picture. We have used it less than 10 times to crush ice. The email you list on your website to contact them responds it is not monitored and the Frigidaire website only has predefined categories to contact them and thus we are struggling to report a defective part is being sent out as a recall replacement.

The product, in the report: side by side refrigerator freezer
11/1/2023: The consumer’s 5’ tall wife opened the refrigerator side door and it detached completely and pinned her against the counter.
The door has 2 hinges and pivots on the hinge itself. All the contents on the door fell onto the kitchen floor. The wife was not injured.
The consumer called his extended warranty company, and their rep. told him that they don’t cover the hinges.
And after no satisfaction w/ the rep, I spoke with a supervisor. The consumer had to order the hinges and wait for them to arrive. Warranty company did not order the correct part. Once they arrived, he called them back scheduled a service call to replace the existing hinges. That technician is scheduled to come out today 11/14/2023. Then 11/21/2023 had to wait another two week for proper [ILLEGIBLE] order by service tech.
The manufacturer assigned the consumer a Reference Number: [REDACTED].

No incident, no one hurt Made Nov 14, 2023, sent to the company Nov 16, 2023, published by CPSC Dec 1, 2023
The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery French 4-Door Refrigerator, bottom freezer, Model FG4H2272UF* 36” wide, 28 inch depth, 71” high, 21.4 Cubic Ft., Counter Depth, Smudge Proof, Stainless Steel
I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator and had it installed on 2/21/2020. By 8/22/2020 the refrigerator began to fail (no ice) due to a faulty motherboard. A new motherboard was installed on 8/23/2020, but the ice maker still didn’t work. On 9/28/2020 a new ice maker was installed, but it didn’t produce ice. A second motherboard was installed on 10/13/2020, but refrigerator didn’t start working for another 24 hours, on 10/14/2020. Frigidaire refused to allow me to purchase an extended warranty from the initial sale. As a courtesy (per Frigidaire), Frigidaire provided a “service concession of 1 year” which extended my ‘warranty” through 2/18/2022, but did not take into account all the days, weeks refrigerator was not working properly. On 1/14/2022, the ice maker had ice damming around the outside of the ice maker box. On the following Monday, 1/17/2022, I called Frigidaire who scheduled their contractor (REDACTED) to diagnose and fix the problems. On 1/24/2022, the tech did not do any diagnostic testing, but merely melted the ice on the inside of the refrigerator with a hair dryer and said he “sealed the ice maker.” I asked if this was a quick and dirty fix to get beyond the warranty period. He said, “no, this will fix the problem for good.” On 3/14/2022, the refrigerator was making a very loud noise (unusual noise) and a day later the error code t1/E1 came up on the front door screen indicating the problem with the ice maker again. Ice damming was again on the ice maker inside the refrigerator as well as through the refrigerator. I called my appliance tech company, [REDACTED], to come out and give me some accurate information as to what was actually going on. I called Frigidaire again and was told that the problem was now [REDACTED] as they did the work. Frigidaire could not tell me what the warranty for the 1/24/2022 repair would be (what length of time) even though Frigidaire contracted with [REDACTED]s and required me to use them since I was technically still under warranty due to the “service concession.” Each company pointed the finger to the other company for resolution. On 3/29/2022, I filed a formal complaint with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection and both companies continued to point the finger to the other company. On March 16, 2022, I called my appliance repair company, [REDACTED], to come out and give me accurate information as to what was actually going on and if the refrigerator was faulty from the beginning. I paid them $149.95 for the service call. Their receipt for this includes this description and pictures of problems from two visits, March 17 and March 21, 2022: “Checked over unit. Its working properly but still showing Error t1. According to code list, ordering temperature sensor….Found ice build up in freezer. Definitely an air leak and not a defrosting issue. Found ice build up on evaporator fan. Unit has massive air leak and is building frost everywhere. I did not put the temperature sensor in because there are bigger problems than the sensor. Took photos of issues…At this point Im saying the unit is not repairable.” Note: misspellings in above paragraph are [REDACTED] tech’s. Refrigerator did NOT keep food at a safe temperature during most of its operation. This caused an unsafe environment for me and my family when consuming food from this appliance.
UPDATED ON 11/15/2023: [HVAC tech indicated that with ice damming, moisture, water at the back end of the refrigerator, due to the design and malfunction of the temperature sensor as well as leakage, over time you will have mold/mildew growing which will definitely get into the actual refrigerator as well as the ice maker and water line, and food inside of refrigerator, freezer. The first picture above shows the fan at lower bottom of back of refrigerator with water condensation. What is odd, is this refrigerator is manufactured with [REDACTED] are the area of the fan there which makes more likely over time there will be issues with mold, mildew. [REDACTED] said it’s not usually made of [REDACTED]]

My Electrolux Model EI23BC35KS7, Serial # 4A34020829 has discharged pieces of plastic, styrofoam in the ice from the ice maker. I have discovered what appears to be the remains of an electrical wire, wrapped around the metal coil that dispenses the ice . This has taken place as of Monday 9/19/2022. I have removed the plastic, styrofoam and electrical wire. At this time the icemaker is still dispensing ice but I don’t know for how long.

The product, in the report: Electrolux French doors black refrigerator, model # EI28BS36IB0.
My Electrolux refrigerator almost caught fire. I noticed a burning smell coming from the refrigerator and realized that the interior lights hadn’t turned off when the doors where closed. Being incandescent bulbs, they were apparently generating a lot of heat over several hours (probably overnight and possibly longer) and melted the surrounding covers & walls of the refrigerator. The use case & environment was normal; the refrigerator had been in use for a number of years with no other significant unusual incidents. There were no injuries, but it could have been far more serious had a fire broken out at night.

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 2, 2018, sent to the company Aug 13, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 27, 2018
The product, in the report: Electrolux Model EW23BC71ISC refrigerator/freezer
My Electrolux refrigerator/freezer started to “spit” out pieces of Styrofoam while dispensing ice last year. I pulled the ice cube bucket out and removed any debris and rinsed it out. Than last week, I gave my daughter some “crushed” ice from the unit and as my daughter was chewing it, she screamed and began to cry. I ran to her and she pulled out an extremely sharp piece of white plastic from her mouth. I want to say that I’m not exaggerating when I describe the plastic as intensely sharp, more so than the end of an ice pick. I than pulled the ice bucket out and saw that there was NUMBEROUS pieces of the same white plastic in the ice. One piece is large enough to lock the spinning part inside from turning. I have photos and have kept the entire bucket out without removing any of the plastic inside. I continued to call Electrolux and they responded by saying “it’s out of warranty” and that I would need to hire a repair person. I continued to explain this is not a warranty issue but a design flaw and safety hazard. I told them I needed someone to contact so that my attorney could speak to them. Their reply was horrific. They say, verbatim, “if you have an attorney, they will know who to contact.” I emailed Electrolux as well, only to receive a similar response, to contact a repair person.
Today, I met with my attorney, and they suggested I complete this process before they contact Electrolux. I feel the design of their system should not allow for stryrofoam or plastic to enter the dispensing system. It’s a real danger.
My 5 month old son passed away just a few months ago and the state is now prosecuting against the caretaker. I do not want to lose the only child I have left. The plastic could have easily been swallowed and lodged in my daughter’s throat. She could have died. I’m absolutely disgusted by the response from Electrolux. I hope you can bring this to their attention so that they respond and take a more responsible action to address this.

No one hurt Made Jul 11, 2018, sent to the company Jul 20, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 3, 2018
The product, in the report: Electrolux Refrigerator Model number EW28BS71ISA
In 2012 I purchased an Electrolux refrigerator Model number EW28BS71ISA and Serial number 4A11801715. Within the first year we had to have the ice maker replaced under warranty. It continued to break and various repairs or replacement to the ice maker occurred on 4 other occasions at a cost to me. Once the ice maker almost caught fire and “spit” pieces of plastic into the kitchen. There is similar complaint already logged here by another consumer. For approximately 3 weeks or longer the ice maker worked intermittently and the freezer and fridge both seemed to intermittently lose its temperature. I assumed we left a door open (alarm should have sounded). 2 nights ago, I noticed water under the floor and pulled my fridge out. Imagine my surprise when the back of the entire fridge has rusted so much that there is rust on my floors and there is frost covering back! Electrolux said they are aware it is an issue and has a “fix kit” that I may be eligible for. But, I have to pay a repairman to come from Douglasville Ga to Augusta. My home is less than 20 miles from Electrolux Repair center. The repair company they provided is Dependable Repair at [REDACTED]. This company does not come here. I called back and received a voice mail from”[REDACTED] with Frigidaire” at [REDACTED] this morning at 0900EST that says she cannot provide a local repair service and so she gave me the name of 3 appliance stores!! I spoke with another repairman and he said that he is very familiar with this issue in Electrolux and that this issue means the walls of the fridge and insulation have been breached and that the water and condensation have probably caused mold to grow everywhere inside of the fridge. I have had to carefully clean the seals around doors for over a year because they get mold! I have NEVER had that with another fridge. I am concerned that this also happened to 2 of my friends within last 2 years and the complaint boards are full of complaints describing this EXACT issue. Refrigerators should last longer than 5 years, should hold their temperature and not result in food spoilage, waste and illness! The repairman said to dump the fridge as soon as possible to avoid more illness and exposure to mold and before it completely rots and ruins my floors. Electrolux should not be able to get away with selling horrible appliances for thousands of dollars that can adversely affect a families health and then offering NO warning of known issues and NO service when a faulty appliance is unusable!

Electrolux EW 23BC85KS3 S/N 4A 22617656
Refrigerator forms ice on outside back of refrigerator. Ice makers stops working. Mother board replaced. Foods in freezer not staying frozen. Uneven temp temperature in freezer. Racks in refrigerator rusting from humidity levels. Food freezing and thawing and refreezing. Ice that forms on back outside refrigerator rusting metal and causing drywall to get wet causing mold.
Called Electrolux have spoke to a [REDACTED] and emailed [REDACTED]. I was told that they would repair unit with a pad on back of refrigerator or that they would give me a 50% off a new refrigerator. I feel that a bandaid pad is not fixing the problem with a poor design flaw. The 50% off another refrigerator to replace the $3200 refrigerator I already bought would cost me $5000.00 in total plus the repairs I have already spent. I also feel that I am not the only consumer to have made this complaint to Electrolux. Electrolux knows this was a bad, poor, flawed refrigerator. This is a health hazard inside and out.
I ask for a replacement of like kind to settle the problem.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Stainless French Door Counter Depth Ice and Water in Door Refrigerator
The icemaker in our Electrolux French door Counter depth refrigerator with ice/water in door dispensed the thermosensor as well as some styrofoam into a glass of ice. When I removed the ice container and was trying to see the problem, the exposed wires from the icemaker came in contact with my hand and shocked me. Shortly after that the entire unit lost power. I was shocked by the incident but did not go immediately to the doctor. I was thankful that I was here and none of my children were electrocuted or hurt by the defective appliance. I contacted Electrolux immediately but was simply told the unit was out of warranty and they tried to sell me an extended warranty. They did not inquire about my shock or the unit or express any concern. I read about some similar problems with a previous electrolux icemaker but was informed there was nothing wrong with mine and it was not under recall. Since I was shocked by the exposed wires, I disagree vehemently. I spoke with the consumer department at electrolux again today and again was told the unit was not under warranty and they would be happy to sell me an extended warranty.

The product, in the report: side by side refrigerator
(09/15/2016) The consumer stated that she awoke to the refrigeration beeping. She opened the refrigerator door and discovered that it was hot on the inside. The light at the top of the refrigerator was very hot. There are two light bulbs at the top that were very hot. The liner around the bulbs had melted through to the insulation of the refrigerator.
(09/15/2016) The consumer called the firm to find out if this was an issue with others. She was advised that it was not. The product, in the report: Electrolux Refrigerator
On 6/21/2004, I purchased an Electrolux side-by-side refrigerator: Model #E23CS75DSS1, Serial # LA41109108. Since purchase, I have consistently changed the water filter cartridge every 6 months with no problems.
On 7/22/2014, I purchased a replacement filter from East Coast Appliance where we originally purchased the refrigerator. On 7/29/2014, I installed it in accordance with manufacturers instruction manual. As soon as I started the 3 minute flush and check for leakage, the filter exploded from the refrigerator’s filter housing with such force it landed 11 feet from the refrigerator in the great room. Given the mass of the filter and it’s acceleration, it could have seriously injured someone. I re-installed the old filter with no problems noted.
Thinking it was a defective filter, I returned it to East Coast Appliance and they gave me a replacement. The results were the same.
At this time, I thought there may be a design issue with the new filter. I did a web search and found others with the same issues.
I called Electrolux customer service. The representative understood the filter was redesigned but because of issues with older refrigerators, the filter was re-redesigned. He shipped me one (Part #EWF2CBPA).
I installed it, the results were the same.
I called Electrolux customer service. The representative understood the filter was redesigned but was not re-redesigned. She needed the Serial Number which I did not have handy.
I called Electrolux customer service with serial number. The representative understood the filter was redesigned. Admitting no issues or responsibility, she said she would ship me a filter base (Part #240396002) as a matter of “goodwill”. She did not believe they needed to send a technician to the house it that replacement “only required three screws” (which turned out to be absolutely incorrect).
Today, 6 Sep 2014 I successfully changed the filter base and filter.
I believe Electrolux knows there is a safety issue with older refrigerators. Their redesigned filter made my refrigerator obsolete and dangerous. Because of the above very dangerous issue, I believe the older units should be recalled. Electrolux customer service should warn customers. The filter base should be changed out at Electrolux expense.
Thank you in advance for your consideration, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Frigidaire refridgerator. We don’t have the manual as the refridgerator was left in the forclosed house we bought.
I smelled a funny smell in my clean refridgerator. I then saw some white smoke at the top of my refridgerator and realized the light bulb had melted the plastic in the roof of the inside of the refridgerator. I have a Frigidaire refridgerator and have found this is a common problem with these. I’m lucky my refridgerator didn’t catch fire. I have since removed the light bulb and currently use my refridgerator with no light bulb.

The product, in the report: Electrolux W touch counter depth French Door Refrigerator Model #-EW28BS85KS I had my kitchen remodeled in September 2011. The appliances were supplied by the contactor. The freezer of the new Electrolux refrigerator didn’t work right from day on and after several attempts to repair it was replaced by the above brand new model in December 2011. This unit worked well until 10/5/2013 when while filling a glass with ice the entire system shut down. No ice-no lights-no sounds-nothing! A rectangular piece of [REDACTED] had dropped into my glass so I reached up into the ice chute to see if anything was stuck. All I got was a major shock and jolt. I unplugged the refrigerator at that time and removed the ice tray. I found two wires hanging down from the top that had arced to the metal ice auger and shorted the entire system out. This was what was responsible for the shock I got. In the tray were the temperature sensor/thermometer and a rubber hose. Reconstructing the events; The restraining piece of [REDACTED] was dislodged allowing the sensor and attached wire to hang down into the ice tray. The auger caught the senor and wires and tore them apart allowing the bare wire to arc on the ice auger causing the short. The short may have killed not only the ice maker, but the major and auxiliary circuit boards and the compressor.

The product, in the report: Refrigerator
Frigidaire refrigerator purchased September 2012, caller was cleaning the bottom portion of her refrigerator when she noticed what she describes as a 26 x 13 thin piece of glass with the bottom drawers and very rough edges, raw pieces of glass.
She washed it, began replacing it but it exploded into so very many pieces sending tiny, tiny shards of glass into her fingers on both hands.
She has become fearful of this glass in the refrigerator.
She has contacted the manufactrur.
She treated the tiny cuts in her fingers herself
UPDATE: I called three times to get the problem resolved, and the supervisor was supposed to contact me from Frigidaire and my call was never returned. We reviewed the replacement glass as shown on replacement items and it shows the glass as being reinforced with lines going thru the glass which could be fiberglass or some reinforcement material. The replacement glass we received was the same as which shattered the first time with no reinforcement in the glass. I also requested a crisper drawer replacement which was damaged when the original glass broke which I never got. My main concern is this problem is resolved using a different type of material so that someone does not get hurt and the ones out there get replaced with a safe material .. I am still picking up glass on 11/29/ from the original occurrence on 11/15 I also have the replacement glass as received as I will not put this in my refridgerator. Thank you

The product, in the report: 2 door stainless steel (Refrigerator) MODEL # EW23CS65GS1 SERIAL # 4A81420649
I will keep this report short and precise. Please contact me for more information if necessary.
I purchased an Electrolux Fridge floor model from my local Sears store. I was reassured several different times that Electrolux would replace it if any problems with it. Soon after I got it the ice maker didn’t work, the drawers were broken, and the fridge leaked. At one point it leaked so badly that it’s was running water that ruined my cherry wood floor. I called Sears and was told they couldn’t come till next week, I was in a panic. I was told to turn my water off into the kitchen, I told her I didn’t know how and she told me to call a neighbor.
Subsequently, Sears repairmen made 6 to 10 visits to repair the fridge. The fridge is still not repaired and they refused to replace my damaged floor. The ice maker broke again, and fridge leaked again and the refridgerator would freeze my food. This time I called the Electrolux company. They had a list of 4 repair people that I could call. I called number 1, the closest to me. He has replaced the ice maker and it’s parts several times. The freezer side leaked along with other problems, the repairman replaced the freezer door. A short time later I realized the freezer door would open by itself. Repairman number 1 came and raised the front of the fridge and said it won’t open now. It doesn’t open now but the door doesn’t fit properly. On August 23rd fridge leaking water from the top, water running inside, outside, and food soaked. She said that I should try to contact them I may have better luck. I asked her if there was anyone I called Electrolux, they said stay on the line and they would get someone to come, kitchen water had to be shut off again. She came on the line andf told me number 1 repairman not availble to next week and the other 3 their lines are either busy or they have an answering machine.else in the area and she specifically said no we don’t. I called the #1 repairman, left a message and none called back. Called #2 and spoke to him 3 times but he wasn’t able to come, then tried #3 repairman and line busy, when I got through I was finally able to leave a message, he called me back and told me he no longer worked for Electrolux, gave me another name and he said he doesn’t work on Electrolux. I called Electrolux, they said stay on the line and they would get someone to come, kitchen water had to be shut off again. She came on the line and told me number 1 repairman not availble to next week and the other 3 their lines are either busy or they have an answering machine. #4 on the list said they couldn’t come for 4 weeks. My kitchen water was off, the Electrolux person told me to find someone. I was able to get it fixed within 2 days. I called Electrlux and told them I got it fixed, she asked me if I used someone on the list and I told her no one was avaible. She said as of now I am canceling your contract..period! This fridge is a lemon, it has been a nightmare, they know that is a lemon and refuse to replace it.
AS I stated above like the Sears repairmen being here upwards of 10 times so were the Electrolux repairmen. Sears sells damaged appliances and have received many complaints, something needs to be done about this.
I hope you can help me. Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Refigerator
Consumer stated that her refrigerator dispenser was leaking water, while attempting to to retrieve some water there was a weird noise and there was no water coming from it, she also smelled an odor of electrical fire. The refrigerator was also hot to the touch. She immediately unplugged it and contact the service department and a service rep came out and advised that hose was split which caused damaged to the circuit board.
Consumer stated that there had been several service calls on the refrigerator which were for different problems. 1/2010 - icemaker inoperable 4/13/2010 - icemaker noise 4/2010 - icemaker replaced 2/14/2011 - replaced circuit board for icemaker 7/2011 - not sure of the problem
Consumer is concerned that this refrigerator has a designed flaw which is a safety hazard and should be reported.
UPDATE: 5/25/2009- Purchased fridge for $2999.96 from Percy’s of Worchester 4/13/2010- 1st service call: ice maker noisy. Made aware of design issues with ice maker at this time. Mfr assured extension of 1 year warranty to cover ice maker issues. Ice maker kit installed. All complaints/service should be documented with Electrlux under Acct # [REDACTED] 2/20/2010- Service call for continued noisy ice maker water drain, but traced to coiled copper supply line vibration against back of fridge- no internal issue 2/14/2011- service call ice maker not working as of 2/5/11. Parts sent by Electrolux warranty service call to install version 8.1 upgrade kit 7/23/11- Ice maker again not working, phoned Electrolux but never initiated service call because husband rebooted system by turning off/resetting just prior to call and ice maker and began working 11/23/11- Called Electrolux to report water dispenser continuing to drop after level released from drawing water. I was told not covered under warranty. Given a list of trouble shooting steps: 1) check water supply line to pressure for impedance issues; 2) check house water lines for evidence of recent water shut off or air; 3) change water filterand do a full purge through system to eliminate any air in system; 4) try drawing smaller amounts of water at a time (802 or less); 5) if still dripping for a few seconds after water draw perhaps water valve could be issue. At no time was it suggested to turn off water supply or expediate a service call. As we had so many other design problems with this product we felt this was a more frustrating/annoying issue related to this product now known to have issues. These issues were with the icemaker, not essential fridge function, but are no less frustrating when you buy an expensive product such as this. 1/16/12- Went to draw glass of water at 6 AM. Got a few seconds of water flow, followed by only sputtering water/air and a loud abnormal sound like the mechanism sticking or burning out. Releasing level did not stop noise-in quick succession I: 1) opened door to override motor and attempt to stop it; 2) by this time noted electrical like smell-pushed touch screen button to shut off ice/water function- screen was very hot to touch and now evidence of heat to smoke from door panel-so pulled the plug on entire fridge. Spoke to following electrolux reps: 1/16/12: 8A: [REDACTED] Ref # [REDACTED] 1/6/12- 4:50 PM [REDACTED] same ref number and given authorization code for warranty coverage of parts 1/18/12: apprc 4 AM [REDACTED]. electrolux factory manager 1/16/12: 4 PM Service call from Percy’s identified water supply hose internally housed at top of fridge had become worn/bent and ruptured- allowing water to free flow through circuitry/circuit boards and wiring resulting in all being fried. Despite all being dried out, when plugged back in circuit board began to smoke and spark. I refused to have this product in my home even if repaired after learning of the potential shock or fire this incident posed particularily if happened unwitnessed. Percy’s arranged a loaner fridge and worked with Electrolux sales to replace with a new fridge.
I am filing this report for a number of reasons and hope you will look into the incident.
1) The noise and smoke was the result of water flowing through and shorting all the fridge circuitry- I (or if I had small children-a child) would have been at risk of shock by touching the door/touch control screen. 2) If this occurred at night or with no one at home could this have led to a fire? 3) Please review the enclosed photos. The line that caused the incident is a hard plastic inflexible hose which passes through the active hinge point of the left door from the top of the fridge. As you can see from the photos- opening and closing the door led to the hose developing a bend/wear point that leaked and ruptured. I feel this represented a design flaw that puts other consumers with this model fridge at risk of a similarly frightening incident, so I ask that you please look into this incident further

Caller purchased Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer around the end of June 2009, had no problems with it until September of same year when the shelves began falling out either when placing an item on them or removing and item from them. Caller contacted the manufacturer, appliance still on warranty, send tech who advised caller to stretch the metal
Not long after first service the shelves were falling, caller contacted manufacturer who put spacers in to attempt a repair. This did not work as a repair.
Shelves are falling and caller would like them investigated , Caller considers the shelves falling a safety hazard because they could hit her children if they were to open the refrigerator for something like a popcycle or other item.
