The product, in the report: Avantco SS-PT-48-HC sandwich prep refrigerator

DFM [REDACTED] - [REDACTED] called for us to follow up on a fire in their refrigerator unit.

The fridge is newer, less than 2 years old. No recalls were noted for the Avantco SS-PT-48-HC sandwich prep refrigerator. online or CPSC. The refrigerator failed at the electronic control for the compressor. The unit was located inside the food cart and up against the wall. The outside temp at the time of the failure was high. This appears to have been either a malfunction of the unit or failure due to the excessive heat. He has a new refrigerator in place. He has installed a vent on the side of the cart and added a fan inside to allow for better ventilation for the condenser unit. Advised to clean the back of the refrigerator at least annually to prevent lint/debris build up.

We reviewed the cart afterwards and appears to be very clean and organized. Suggested that they get a CO detector for inside to protect the staff from any malfunctioning gas appliances. All the electrical runs through a breaker panel and runs from a 220 shore line. The gas was installed professionally and no signs of wear on the piping.
