The product, in the report: 4-Door Flex with Family Hub 27.9-cu ft 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with Single Ice Maker (Black) model RF28M9580SG/AA from Lowes
To whom it may concern,
We bought 4-Door Flex with Family Hub 27.9-cu ft 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with Single Ice Maker (Black) model RF28M9580SG/AA from Lowes for $3,704.05 on 08/14/2017. We been having nothing but trouble with the ice maker, which started within 2 years of buying. The ice maker keeps over freezing and completely icing up the whole mechanism and harness. We would constantly have to disable the refrigerator and to defrost it. In addition, the unit also started to produce mold and mildew. By the time this started, the warranty was already up. Additionally, the issue was not a hardware issue, but a defect in Samsung refrigerator which they wanted us to pay for them to resolve. We finally just disabled the ice maker and bought an ice maker. I am now seeing that the power consumption of the refrigerator started to increase. I also ran a self-check, but Samsung’s self-check says nothing is wrong refrigerator. It was normally around 46.46 kWh - 54.96 kWh, but in May it began to rise. It rose from 65.87 kWh to 98.13 kWh as of December 31, 2024. This made me concerned as to why this was happening. I was also hearing a louder humming sound coming from the refrigerator, which made me make sure the condenser coil was clean of dust, but no luck. I also checked behind the triple & metal cooling to make sure it was not frozen. It was little but was not bad. I then checked the ice maker, which to my shock, the whole area was frozen even though the ice maker was still disabled. Therefore, I disabled the refrigerator and unthaw the whole ice maker again. In addition, I made sure to actually pull out the Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly this time, in the hope it would stop it from causing this issue. To my dismay, it did not. So even though the ice maker is disabled, and the Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly is pulled out, the ice maker compartment is still getting iced up. I think this is a fault in the Samsung refrigerator and I want to bring it to your attention. I have uploaded some images of the issue but if more is required, please let me know.
