The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

    Oster model 3200 food processor

When you turn the processor on with the blade shaft and slicing/shredding disk attached the disk comes in contact with the food chute and cuts bits of plastic into your shredded food. I contacted Oster and they refused to do anything about it or admit there was any problem with this unit. This presents significant health and safety concerns for me as a consumer.

The product, in the report: Oster Pro® 1200 PLUS Blend-N-Go® Smoothie Cup & Food Processor Attachment - Brushed Nickel - Glass Jar. Oster® 5-cup Food Processor Attachment Detailshttps://www.oster.com/jarden-master-catalog/oster-5-cup-food-processor-attachment/164205-001-000.html 164205-001-000

I was using my Oster 1200 blender with its food processor attachment setup with the slicing disk to slice mushrooms. The processor made a brief louder chopping noise and then continued to work properly. My wife and daughter later found plastic chips in their food.

After cleaning the food processor, I looked at it in more detail. The slicing blade can move up on its shaft and chop plastic off of the edge on the bottom of the feed tube. I requested a replacement and it looks like it has the same problem. I believe the problem happened as a small piece of mushroom was in the tube and the random cutting and bouncing caused the blade to oscillate and ride up the shaft.

Attached pictures are taken with food processor attachment upside down to show blade contacting feed tube. Blade may only contact the feed tube if it oscillates or gets food trapped between blade and housing. Problem would be resolved if unit had a bushing to limit blade movement.

The product, in the report: Oster Food Processor made specially for Walmart 14 cup food processor with 5 cup nesting bowl

Purchased a Oster Food Processor model #FPSTFP5273-DFL from Walmart.com. I was attempting to shred an 8oz block of mozzarella cheese. I was pushing the cheese in the chute as directed. A large piece of cheese went up under the lid, broke off a piece of the plastic lid which shot out at me.

I contacted the company, they are sending a new one. I am scared the new one will do the same thing. I think it is a manufacturers defect.

The product, in the report: Model #BLSTCC. Combination Eletric Blender and Food Processor units. 16 speed options on both.

I purchased a Oster Blender/Food Processor Model #BLSTCC and I found that it was unsafe due to the fact that there seemed to be no safety mechanism when the blades were turning, when being used in either mode. I have used other Food Processors and they have all had safety devices that would not let the sharp blades turn if the lid us unlocked. I called Oster told them about this situation and they sent me another product of theirs which was basically the same thing, this one’s Model #6878. When it arrived I was shocked to see it had the same issues. No safety mechanism! I have used it but was always very careful when doing so. I feel it is fairly safe when being used as a blender, but definitely not as a food processor! I am asking you to please explore these products for safety before someone gets injured. God forbid a child or teenager or young adult tries to use this and really gets hurt. If you find them unsafe please take them off the market for consumer’s safety sake. Thank you!

The product, in the report: Food Processor

The consumer says that the processor stays on even when the lid is off. He says that the switch mechanism gets stuck. When this occurs, the unit can be turned on posing a laceration hazard.

He is concerned that a child may get his hand inside the processor while it is on. The consumer says that just a simple shove can turn it on making it very dangerous.

The product, in the report: OSTER FOOD PROCESSOR

On October 30 I was using a Oster Food Processor FPSTFP4010 to process bacon and cheese for twice baked potato ...the plastic latch broke off and the top flew off.. while the machine was running....the piece of plastic holding the top on wedged itself in the handle where the trigger is... .the machine continued to run and severly cut my hand..my husband had to rush me to the emergency room..two of my middle fingers had lost my finger nails and the palm of my hand was cut also...As soon as I was able I contacted Sunbeam who owns Oster ,and there reply said they would send me a new Processor if I would send them the old one...I was not willing to do that and as a matter of fact..insulted by there response..and I wrote them a nasty letter and told them so..They handed the complaint over to a law firm in Chicago...They called me and wanted to know “the story”..that young lady informed me that they did not manufacturer the food processor..and that I would have to contact the manufacturer (in China)...This really made me mad..so I visited an Attorney...she wrote a letter on January 4th threating a law suit and to this date I have heard not one word..I am so angry about the way I have been treated..A simple metal band around the top of the processor would have prevented this whole thing from happening..I would never want anyone else to experience what happened to me..I don’t care who the manufacturer is..they should not be able to put an American lable on it and sell it in this country as a product of there’s..Thank you for your attention..

The product, in the report: Oster 3 cup food processor, Model No. FPSTMC3321

On March 5, 2011, I was trying to chop a few cubes of ice in the processor (something which I did easily on my older one made by another company.) I closed the lid, turned on the processor, and the blade got out of place: ice got underneath the blade. I removed the lid with the intent of pushing the blade out of place. Apparently, my other hand was on the “Low” or “High” button, because the machine started to run. I emphasize the lid was completely off, and, as I knew it was a common safety feature that such a processor does not run until the lid is locked, I was caught completely by surprise when it began operating. I jerked my hand out as soon as possible. My right index finger was bleeding profusely. When I emptied the ice, I found a piece of my finger inside the bowl. This was a sheer slice, much like a piece of deli meat. It included a piece of tissue and a piece of the nail as well.

The product, in the report: Food processor

MY daughter was using the unit and some food was not mixing or cutting so she took the cover off and put her fingers in to move things around. While she was doing this she accidentily hit the power button for the mixer and got a deep cut in her finger. The lid wasn’t even on so the unit should not be able to be turned on
