The product, in the report: Baby Bullet Baby Food Maker

I baught a Baby Bullet in February and yesterday 04/10/15 after only using it a few times I found a piece of plastic from the lid in my babys food. The lid on the baby food maker has 2 tiny pieces of plastic that secure the lid in place while its runing and on mine both pieces of plastic have broken off. We found one piece out of 2 in my babys food, im worried we fed our baby a piece of the plastic lid. Im sure im not the only one this has happend to.

The product, in the report: Magic bullet, Baby Bullet baby food maker

I was using the Baby Bullet, baby food maker to puree some food for my 6 month old daughter. I had only used it a few times. This was the third time. I had followed all of the manufacturers guidelines on how to use and clean the device (hand wash, and top rack dishwasher safe).

I was feeding my daughter her food and she was struggling with something in her mouth so I reached in and pulled out a piece of plastic/silicone. This was from the units blade component. There is a plastic/silicone gasket around the blade. It had popped off and had been cut into pieces. I am very upset about the whole thing. I was about half way done feeding her when I noticed something was wrong, so it is is possible she might have eaten a piece earlier.

I tried to call the company but they are closed until tomorrow.

After some investigation on the Internet I have discovered that many other people have had similar stories about this unit malfunctioning and causing a choking hazard.

Please feel free to contact me about this report or my incident.

The product, in the report: Baby Bullet is a food mixer that is designed and marketed to make pureed food for babies. The piece that is defaulted is a removable clear plastic ring that is in outer edge of the blade attachments for the blender. It seals the bottom blade attachment to the blender cup.

I purchased my Baby Bullet in December 2011 and was using it as instructed when the inner plastic sealant ring came off and was blended into the food I was making for my 7 month old daughter. Not only did the ring get chopped up and mixed with the food but it is also clear in color and hard to see. I have read many reviews of this product and this exact issue happening with other people on sites for Target, Babies R Us, Amazon and more. While Baby Bullet is now making this item so that the sealant ring is permanent within the mixer, many people still own the earlier version of this product where it is not permanent. This is a very hazardous issue and I would like this to be recalled and for people who own the baby bullet to be made aware of this possible risk.

Reports Department of Consumer Product Safety Commission,

I own and have been using the “Baby Bullet” product to make my daughter’s food for about a month. The other day I was using the “milling blade” (there is more than one blade attachment that comes with the baby bullet) in the short cup to blend her food and the sealant ring came off while the food was blending, and was cut up by the blade and mixed with the food. I noticed the plastic pieces in the food and luckily did not serve that to my 7 month old daughter. I had followed the washing instructions and also checked this ring to make sure that everything was properly secured and this still happened.

Today I spoke with a lady in customer service named [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] and I told her of my ring coming off and being blended into the food. She offered to replace my part with one that has the permanent sealant ring. I told her that I would indeed like this part replaced, but in addition to my replacement part, I would like this hazardous issue to be addressed and recalled publically. I mentioned to her that I am aware that there have been multiply reports of this exact incident happening to other people and she said she was unaware that this was an issue. I asked her to have someone that has that authority to please contact me so that I can make this same request of them. I received a call from [REDACTED] and made the same request that this item be recalled and he said this was not something that felt necessary to do. This is a choking hazard and I expect this item to be publically recalled so that, in the future, no person is at risk of unknowingly serving their baby small pieces of plastic that could potentially cause harm and choking.

I have read reviews of this same thing happening to other owners of this product on the websites of Target, Babies R Us, Amazon and more. This is unacceptable that this has been happening and, up to this point, nothing has been done. Please help me in having this product recalled and owners of this defective blade with removable sealant ring be made aware of this hazard.

  4. No one hurt

The product, in the report: The Baby Bullet is a food processor designed to prepare homemade baby food.

My husband and I received a Baby Bullet food processor as a baby shower gift. We read the manual thoroughly and cared for the product and prepared all of the food according to the instruction in the manual. We have used it a total of 6 times. The 6th time of use, we pureed sweet potatoes for our son. While feeding him lunch the next day he began to choke. I was able to dislodge what he was choking on and pull it out of his mouth. I, at first, thought it was a sliver of potato, but upon closer inspection realized it was a one inch piece of rubber. That rubber was a piece of the rubber gasket on the Baby Bullet that had been chopped up and made its way into my son’s food. Who knows how much he actually ingested. My husband, [REDACTED], called the Baby Bullet company to file a complaint about the product and we were informed that a “couple of months ago” the company had changed the care instructions in the manual because the heat from dishwashers was causing the rubber gaskets to fail and they have also changed the structure of the product and instead of using a removable rubber gasket, they are now permanently seated. We did register our product when we received it, yet we were not notified of these changes. The company told us that there was such a small percentage of occurrences that they did not send out notifications. Had they sent us a notification, the incident of my son choking could have been avoided. How is it determined what is an acceptable percentage to not have to notify consumers or initiate a recall? I feel like any percentage of failure that could be hazardous to a human life is too high of a percentage. Baby Bullet has requested that we pack our Bullet up and leave it on the porch so that they can send FedEx for it and we have complied with their request. I did take pictures of the product showing the broken gasket and the piece that my son choked on. I want other parents to know that this product can be dangerous. Not only should parents be informed, they should also be sending out these replacement parts. I do not want any other parent to have to go through this. Next time it could result in something much worse, like the death of an innocent child.
