The product, in the report: Ninja Creami Deluxe XL, NC551Q (QVC version of the Creami Deluxe)
Ninja Cream XL Deluxe, NC551Q, S/N J03Z3093F2R6 When using the unit, the blade/paddle keot coming loose from the lid. I was able to get the blade/paddle secure, or so I thought. As the post began to insert into the container, the insertion of the post into the blade caused the connection to spark and create a little fire. I could not power down the unit via the power switch. I had to remove the plug from the outlet. There were no injuries. If I had left the area while the machine was on, the damage could have been much worse.

No one hurt Made Jun 30, 2026, sent to the company Jul 6, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 20, 2026
The product, in the report: Ninja Creami Deluxe countertop ice cream maker (CN Series 30). A 120V, 60Hz, 800W electric kitchen appliance with a motor base that spins a vertical drive spindle. A removable Creamerizer paddle attaches to the spindle and bores down through a frozen pint to shave and churn it into ice cream.
During a normal cycle on the Lite Ice Cream setting, the unit completed roughly half the pint, then began making a loud abnormal grinding noise and physically moved/walked side to side across the countertop on its own. I stopped the program immediately. When I removed the outer bowl lid, the Creamerizer paddle had detached from the drive spindle and was loose, and a torn, curved metal fragment (a spiral piece from the blade/paddle assembly) came out stuck to the underside of the lid, with the frozen base frozen around it. The fragment is rigid metal, not frozen dessert. On subsequent attempts the machine ran with noticeably reduced power, the same abnormal noise, and continued side-to-side movement. The paddle-to-spindle coupling had failed, and the spindle appears to have torn metal from the blade assembly during operation. Because metal separated into the food, I discarded the entire pint and stopped using the machine. The unit is approximately 12 days old.

The product, in the report: Ninja Creami Deluxe Model NC551Q
Ninja Creami blade detached prematurely from the motor shaft, created sparks and fire inside of the mixing container. Unplugged the device, removed container and inspected blade. Noted large gouge in the area surrounding shaft attachment location. Returned item to Amazon, awaiting refund. Obtained a Ninja Creami Deluxe from a relative, unit worked once - then the second time the incident detailed above reoccurred and we contacted Ninja. Purchased a new blade. Installed per instructions, checked for proper fit - all good. Started unit running, fire shot out of the motor shaft inside the mixing container - immediately unplugged.

The product, in the report: Ninja CREAMi Deluxe 11-in-1 XL Ice Cream Maker w/ Two 24-Oz. Pints - NC501
My Ninja Creami XL (Model CN501CO) was blending ice cream on 3/2/2026. The product is 11 months old. During blending, the mixing blade separated from the drive shaft inside the plastic bowl. The metal gears on the drive shaft continued to plunge into the bowl grinding against the metal on the mixing blade and leaving metal shavings in the ice cream. Both the drive shaft gears and the metal mixing blade were destroyed. I reached out to Shark/Ninja with my concerns and they responded by saying that the item is unsafe and needs to be replaced, but that there is no warranty for the product because it wasn’t purchased from an “authorized retailer”, which is not true. This product is truly dangerous and should be recalled, the metal shavings produced and present in the ice cream present a serious health risk if ingested, and the lack of concern on Ninja’s part is appalling.

Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 17, 2026, sent to the company Feb 20, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 6, 2026
The product, in the report: Ninja Creami 7 in 1 ice cream maker. Model NC301. From the Shark/Ninja company. Pictures included below.
I was using the Ninja Creami to make ice cream. There is a vertical spindle that spins a blade (that cuts through the ice cream it is making). The spindle separated from the blade. Then proceeded downward and ripped into the blade. And the resultant ice cream had shards of metal in it that I didnt see. I realized that the missing metal from the blade was in the ice cream only after eating the ice cream.

The product, in the report: Ninja Creami model NC300
Ninja Creami - I utilized the Creami the way I always have without issue, but this time found shredded plastic in my ice cream. I cleaned the blade and the lid, then re-spun. This resulted in more plastic. I tried a different pint and had plastic in it after the initial spin and the re-spin. After washing out both pint containers, I discovered the blade had been slicing into the containers, resulting in plastic in my ice cream. I called Ninja Customer Service where a woman ultimately informed me that this is a known issue and that they have made improvements to the newer model. She then informed me that there was nothing she could do to help me other than help me purchase a new Creami. Considering this is a known issue, and that we have a Ninja coffee maker that leaks water each use, I will not be purchasing another Creami, nor other Ninja product. I asked why this model (NC300) had not been recalled if they know this is an issue and she hung up on me. I then [REDACTED] plastic in Ninja Creami and discovered this is indeed a known issue and there are a lot of forums complaining about it.

The product, in the report: Ninja Creami NC501
This evening we made ice cream with our Ninja Creami NC501 as we have for the past year. We used [REDACTED] protein drink in a standard pint. This time while the paddle was at the bottom we heard a loud noise. The axle retracted as usual, but we couldn’t get the pint out of the machine. It just blinked “install”. Using a little extra force we got the pint free. The paddle was at the bottom of the pint. Thinking it was a minor malfunction we are the mixture. It tastes like smoke / burned plastic and indeed has little sharp bits of black plastic in the ice cream. Figuring it was a fluke we made a new pint. The same thing happened. Close inspection of the lid looks like some chips in the collar and the blade appears to have some splines shaved from the inside .

Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 14, 2024, sent to the company Mar 18, 2024, published by CPSC Apr 1, 2024
The product, in the report: Ninja Creami 11 in 1 Model CH501CO S/N X23S3093J2Q3
I purchased a brand new ninja creami 11 in 1 from Costco on 3/6/24. I used the product for the third time on 3/13/24 to process some ice cream. The blade skimmed the inside of the container during mixing which resulted in long, 2-4”, plastic shavings being mixed in with my ice cream. I followed all instructions properly. I did not notice the shavings until about half way though eating my ice cream. This resulted in my consuming some shavings, some of which became lodged in my throat requiring an intense amount of heaving to become unloaded. I was able to isolate more shavings by placing the remaining ice cream in a metal strainer and running hot water over it, melting the ice cream, but leaving the shavings behind. It would appear from my internet research that this is common occurrence. I have two small children who luckily were not injured as a result of this. Had they ingested the plastic shavings that I did it would have likely been much more difficult for them to heave them up. In addition the length poses a concern as they may home become entangled inside the body resulting in the need for surgery to be removed. It would seem that this product should likely be recalled and not sold on the open market as it poses a serious health risk to all people and particularly small children consuming the food products created.

The product, in the report: Ninja CREAMi NC301 ice cream maker. Black with gray trim. L47.3 x W22.9 x H 46.7 cm. PO# [REDACTED]. Carton # 0619 of 1225. Made in China.
While using a Ninja CREAMi model NC301 on the “MIX-IN” setting on a previously mixed batch of ice cream the machine’s blade cut into the bottom and/or sides of the included plastic ice cream container contaminating the ice cream with pieces of plastic of various sizes. During this operation the motor seemed to struggle and the machine emitted a slight odor of burning plastic.
Prior to the incident care was taken to ensure that the blade was correctly seated in the lid of the ice cream holder. After the incident the blade appeared to be in the correct position, but had pieces of plastic wrapped around its edges (shown in photograph).
