The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: 2 tea kettles with warmer

I purchased three Golda Electric Tea Makers (Model GTM-007-Z4) from Amazon. Each unit failed in the exact same location after normal use. In all three cases, the plastic handle that attaches to the glass bowl broke at the bottom connection point. When the handle failed, the kettle contained very hot water, causing the glass bowl to drop and hot water burned my hand. This occurred with all three units within a short period of use, which strongly suggests a design or manufacturing defect at the handle attachment point. Because this failure involves boiling water and a structural handle failure, it presents a serious burn hazard to consumers and may warrant a product safety investigation or recall.
