The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Fellow Stagg EKG electric kettle

I have a Fellow Stagg electric kettle which suddenly started violently spouting boiling water during the boiling process during which the electric base would be completely drenched in boiling water. Water would be spouted up to 1 foot away from the kettle. I reported this to the manufacturer immediately, recommending a recall due to this extreme danger of burning and electric shock, however they did not seem to be interested and blamed me for a user error instead.

As it turns out, this issue is due to a manufacturing error. I found that the filling lid for my kettle has a set of venting holes which were misaligned during the manufacturing process, and the kettle cannot relieve enough pressure through the venting holes in the filling lid during the boiling process, I had recommended to the manufacturer to recall the product and redesign the product with a set screw that would prevent any misalignment of these vent holes. However, they do not seem to be interested. I urge you to immediately force a recall of this product.

As I found out, I am not the only person with this problem as you can for example, see a [REDACTED] thread on this topic: [REDACTED]

Judging by the age of this thread, I must assume that the manufacturer has been aware of this problem for a long time.

I burnt myself with the hot water coming out of the kettle.

The product, in the report: Fellow Stagg EKG electric kettle, polished steel

The handle fell off this electric kettle without warning when I picked it up, the lid fell off when the kettle fell onto the counter, and it dumped boiling water everywhere. The handle turned out to have been poorly secured to the body with one small screw which was hidden inside the handle and not visible. The only reason I wasn’t burned was most of the water went onto the counter and only some onto my pants which were pretty thick. This easily could have caused significant burns in a slightly different situation. This isn’t a safe product.
