The product, in the report: Elite Gourmet EKT-1203W in ivory. 1.3 quarts. I was forced to select a date of manufacture. This information is not listed on either the teapot or base. Date of manufacture unknow.
I purchased an Elite Gourmet EKT-1203W Electric Kettle from Amazon late September 2024. The kettle has an automatic shut-off feature. The shut-off mechanism malfunctioned within 30 days. I thought it was a quirk and continued to use the kettle. It happened a few more times. I reached out to the manufacturer on January 2nd, 2025 to report the issue. They required photos and documentation which I supplied. Their only remedy was to replace the unit with an identical kettle which is unacceptable as this item has a known defect per other consumers who reviewed the product on Amazon. The kettle does not always shut off and continues to boil water and if you get distracted, a fire could ensue.

The product, in the report: Elite Platinum Maxi-Matic Electric Kettle EKT-200
While using the Elite Maxi-Matic electric kettle we noticed a strong odor of burning plastic. When we looked at the bottom of the kettle we could see that it had melted a hole in the bottom plastic of the kettle and also in the base. We did a web search on this product and discovered a review on Amazon saying virtually the same thing. We called the manufacturer’s customer support phone number and the representative said they we not aware of any problems with this product. I emailed them pictures of the melted plastic. They offered to replace the kettle, which we did not want. They said we would have to go back to Kroger to get a refund, which we will do. We bought this kettle 9 months and we used it every day.

No one hurt Made Jun 15, 2015, sent to the company Jun 23, 2015, published by CPSC Jul 8, 2015
The product, in the report: Elite Platinum 1.7L Glass Cordless Electric Kettle [EKT-200]
We purchased the product, Elite Platinum 1.7L Glass Cordless Electric Kettle (EKT-200) by Maxi Matic, less than 6 months ago. It was put to normal use. Yesterday, we smelt smoke coming out of the product. Today, we saw that a wire on the bottom of the kettle burned through the plastic and was clearly visible. It even melted some parts of the base. We informed the company, asked if there was a recall, and asked for a refund. They told us there was no recall on the product and denied a refund. Because it is fire hazard, we are taking the additional step of reporting the product.
