  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 7, 2012, sent to the company Nov 29, 2012, published by CPSC Dec 13, 2012

The product, in the report: Oval [slow cooker] with removable ceramic insert. Three temperatures: high, low, warm. Timer

I purchased a [Update from Consumer:]Rival [slow cooker] model SC534. The plastic handles cracked and fell off exposing the inside metal tube handles. These handles were loose and moved up and down creating a dangerous situation when carrying hot foods. I called the company and they said it was out of warranty. I explained to them that this was now a dangerous product. After months of calls, they finally agreed to send me a new one. After a year and a half, the handles on the replacement appliance have broken and the plastic is falling off exposing the metal rod inside. The difference is that these metal handles are not loose so they must be aware of the problem and corrected that issue. I use a [slow cooker] only 5-6 times a year so it didn’t take much useage for this to happen. The [slow cooker] does run very hot and may contribute to the cracking handles. Chili will boil on warm and food cooked at low is overdone. I called today and they said they could do nothing..that the replacement was sent with no warranty. I told them it was not about the warranty. It was about a dangerous appliance that should be recalled. They finally agreed to send another but unless they corrected this problem, I expect to see a repeat of what happened on the two before. I feel you need to get this [slow cooker]off the market.
