The product, in the report: Instant Precision Dutch Oven 6 QUARTS/5.7 LITRES MODEL#DOMC6001 SERIAL NO: 10611976-00968

Wife was using Insta pot slow cooker as she normally does making a beef dish. The unit was bought back in September 2023 brand new from walmart.com. She only used it gently for the 3rd time. When she emptied the contents out of the inner pot we found pieces of the cast iron pot and enamel coating in the food and a large piece of the cast iron had broke off at the bottom of the pan. It appears under heat that the material used starts to become brittle. Looks like a factory quality defect. We did ingest some of the food before knowing. This is a very serious issue that needs to be looked into as it could cause people to unkowingly ingest the cast iron pot and coating causing health issues, choking and broken teeth. We did not have any injuries or health issues as of yet pertaining to this matter and stopped using the unit for cooking. Company was contacted and will send a replacement.

The product, in the report: Instant Pot Aura multicooker

Instant Pot Aura stopped working. Upon inspection, saw the wires had been overheated and the insulation was burned off the wire. This could easily cause a fire in the home.

The product, in the report: Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer by Instant Pot

My instant pot purchased in December 2017 and used approximately a total of 8 times, self-destructed. I used it for the last time, to cook some artichokes for a family dinner the night of June 21st. I turned off the Instant Pot when it was finished cooking but didn’t unplug it. The next day after being in the kitchen all morning cleaning up, the Instant Pot showed no signs of any trouble. Sometime later in the early afternoon, I smelled smoke, upon investigation; I discovered the Instant Pot spewing acrid smoke. The whole bottom of the Instant Pot had melted off and pooled in a smoldering mass of plastic and burning wires. The fumes where so bad, we had to wear masks with wet clothes underneath in order to enter the house and attempt to clean up the mess. We had to leave the house for several hours with all the windows open and fans pushing the inside air out. Even so, our home still smelled to the point of causing stinging eyes, headaches and coughing. Had this incident occurred during the night and gone undetected, I’m not sure we would have survived the toxic smoke that filled our entire house. It was so bad that over 24 hours later, and cleaning all surfaces in the kitchen and adjoining rooms, it still is not cleared enough to spend more than a few minutes at time in the kitchen. It would appear that it will take several days or longer to have limited use of the kitchen. The Instant Pot also damaged the surface that it was on which may need to be replaced and professionally cleaned.
