No one hurt Made Nov 10, 2011, sent to the company May 21, 2012, published by CPSC Dec 6, 2011
The product, in the report: General Electric (GE) Cool Touch 6 Quart Slow Cooker
I brought my crock pot to work because we were having a company luncheon and my crockpot was being used to keep food warm as it came off the grill. The crock pot was set to LOW and within 30 minutes of turning it on, smoke was coming from the bottom (looked like steam) and we smelled what we thought was plastic burning. We unplugged the unit, removed the crock and lifted the unit and saw that the plastic on the bottom of the unit was melted and the heating element had dropped.

The product, in the report: Walmart/GE slow cooker 168945
Bottom of Walmart/GE slow cooker 168945 melted and caused countertop to become extremely hot. There might have been a fire had I not been home at the time. Countertop had melted plastic on it. I now see that this product has been recalled but I was not notified.
