No one hurt Made Mar 15, 2015, sent to the company Mar 23, 2015, published by CPSC Apr 6, 2015
The product, in the report: GE 4.5-Quart Oval Slow Cooker, model #106661. There’s a design with purple olives on a branch going around the outside, with a white background. Type SC12 Slow Cooker 120V~60Hz 290W. THIS WAS PURCHASED OVER 10 YEARS AGO SO I DO NOT HAVE A RECEIPT.
I have two (WalMart) GE 4.5-Quart Oval Slow Cookers model # 10661 and series A4400AS/E1320AS that I purchased several years ago without any issues. Recently on one slow cooker, the handle came off and the lid fell to the floor and shattered (3/6/2015). On the other slow cooker, the handle came off and the lid fell into the food splashing a little bit of the liquid on my wrist (3/14/2015). No serious injuries occurred as a result of either incident. I started searching online for replacement lids and came across a recall of this model for the same issues I encountered. I seem to have missed the opportunity to receive a replacement but wanted to report the incidents I had.

No one hurt Made Jul 17, 2014, sent to the company Aug 7, 2014, published by CPSC Aug 21, 2014
The product, in the report: G.E. Slow Cooker 4.5 Qt, Olive design on exterior, Clear lid, grey handles, made in China, UL 516B E6132 Type SC12, Slow Cooker 120V - 60 Hz 290W not sure which of the following questions this answers
I received a GE 4.5 quart oval slow cooker model # 106661 - with olive design, clear glass and grey handles and a thermal wrap for Christmas a few years back. I have used it several times but now see that the handle is damaged and my lid has small cracks on the same side. I was lifting it up and noticed the crack so I set it down and noticed the handle felt like it was loose and wobbling, assuming it was due to the large roast and veggies in it but then I noticed the handle itself was cracked. I have kept it in a safe place and this was not normal wear and tear.
I began looking online on how to order a new handle and lid when I saw my very numbers involved in a recall. How can I receive a new handle and lid. Would it be safe to use after replacing, if I can even find a replacement? I think it must have been stressed on that side. Would you please direct me? Otherwise it seems to work fine and I love the thermal wrap to keep it safe in storage.
I tried to call the hotlines that said “call anytime” only to find out they had business hours (not really “call anytime”) Please direct me how to replace these as soon as possible. Thank you.
Warm Regards, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: GE 6-Quart Digital Slow Cooker
It is a slow cooker and it was used in my home. I would use it to cook beef stew dinners that go in a slow cooker. I noticed the bottom of it is VERY HOT. It used not be hot!! It gets so hot I’m sure it could burn my hand. I just happen to notice it before anyone could get hurt. On the side at the bottom has MELTED!!

The product, in the report: Walmart GE m/n 10661, Series A4100AS, Type SC12 Slow Cooker White metal oval outer cooker with green branch/leaf desigh w/2 grey plastic side handles, white porcelin inner cook pot, clear oval lid with grey top handle. 4.5 quart slow cooker
We’ve had this slow cooker for multiple years and have had good luck with it. But, over the past year we had the grey plastic handle, on the clear glass lid, crumble and fall apart while washing the lid. We did a temp repair job, since we needed to use the slow cooker, by placing a small bolt through the lid and putting two nuts on to have something to grab with a hot mitt. We just used the cooker again and I noticed the side handle is cracking and ready to fall off. All these plastic parts should be able to stand the heat temps that emit through the sides of a slow cooker. It has been a good cooker up until now with these problems, hate to have to buy a new one just because plastic parts are failing. There was a recall noted on another filed complaint on this site. I believe the recall was in 2005 which made it too old to affect that consumer and myself but thought I’d post my experience in hopes of warning other users of this model slow cooker. Thanks

The product, in the report: GE model 168945 slow cooker: sold at Wal-Mart; made in China. White plastic base, blue crock, clearglass lid. UL listed 9H06-E195659 UPS 68113168945
Turned on GE model 168945 slow cooker and inserted the crock, food, and placed lid on top. I began to smell a burning plastic smell and removed the crock to see if something was in the base of the slow cooker. Smell continued for about 30 minutes more. The slow cooker was turned on for about 7 hours and cooked the food. Slow cooker was turned off. Few hours later noticed that the [REDACTED] kitchen counter had buckled due to intense heat. Turned over base of the slow cooker and plastic on one side had melted.

The product, in the report: GE 4.5 quart oval slow cooker model # 106661 - white with olive design on outside, clear glass lid. THIS WAS A CHRISTMAS GIFT SO I DON’T HAVE PURCHASE DETAILS.
GE 4.5 oval slow cooker model #106661 (Walmart - series A4210AS). I have had this slow cooker for several years (probably 9 or 10) and had no problems. Used it tonight and when I was cleaning the outside I noticed that the right handle had several cracks in it. Went online to see if I could purchase a replacement handle and found a recall notice on the cooker dated January 13, 2005, specifically related to this problem. No injuries (thankfully) from this, but figured I’d go ahead and report it as requested on the recall notice. It’s been a good crockpot. Sorry I didn’t see the notice in time to get a replacement :-).
